The Bible teaches that the LORD God tests hearts.
Pro 17:3 The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, But the LORD tests the hearts.
Jeremiah 17:10 I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.
1Chronicles 29:17 "I know also, my God, that You test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. "
I sincerely believe that in the course of our lives we come to certain unannounced tests that God has set up for us. If we pass the test, we go on to better things. If we fail the test, we have to repent, learn again, and face the test again until we pass it.
The people of Israel were tested by God in the wilderness after they left Egypt. Because most of them FAILED the tests repeatedly, they did not enter the promised land. Only Joshua and Caleb did enter from that generation.
Whether you enter what is popularly referred to these days as "your destiny" depends on whether you can pass these tests in time. Obviously, if you keep failing them until there is not enough time left for you to fulfil God's plan, you will never do what God intended for your life – though you might well be saved.
I think its wise to prepare for life's important tests.
Some of us studied hard at school and Uni, for exams of limited value. How much more should we prepare for the tests that determine the whole value of our lives on earth?
Do you know what God's are? Would you know how to recognize it if you were in a test?
One thing I will tell you is this: when God puts you in a test, He does not announce to you, or tell you in your heart: "This is a test."
