Get Blessed!

“… knowing that you were called for this purpose, that you may inherit a blessing. ” (1 Peter 3:9)

It is really important to God that YOU inherit a blessing! Its not something to be ashamed of or to apologize for. On the contrary, it is central to God’s purpose for your life! The Scriptures declare it, and so when you as one of God’s people are blessed, then God Himself is glorified.

God wants you to be blessed, even in ways you have never known before. We can get more of an idea of God’s purpose when we consider one of the main reasons Jesus died on the cross and suffered for us. It was:

“so that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. ” (Galatians 3:14)

God’s blessings include forgiveness, acceptance, friendship with God, righteousness, the Holy Spirit, prosperity, supply, healing, deliverance, fruitfulness, long life, favor with men, joy, peace, love, nobility of character, capacity and heart to give, spiritual gifts, wisdom, faith, hope, protection from danger and evil and even favor with men. God wants you to enjoy all of these. It is his will for your life! All you need is to learn the Fear of the Lord, and how to believe God, and you will have these in increasing measure. I want to prove this to you!

According to Galatians 3:14, Jesus did what it took for us to have the potential to enjoy the blessing of Abraham in Christ Jesus, in which every blessing worth having can be found. What it took was his death on the cross in our place. These blessings were costly for Jesus to obtain and so we should take an interest in what it is that Jesus got for us and make sure we receive the benefits.

So what is this blessing of Abraham?

Abraham was a rich man, with a beautiful wife and lots of servants. He was victorious in battle and lived a long life. But Abraham enjoyed greater blessings than these. Abraham had an ETERNAL future with God, even though he sometimes did the wrong thing -BECAUSE he was made right with God.

And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called a friend of God. (James 2:23)

The greatest blessing Abraham received was being a friend of God, which he could be because he was made righteous. As a friend of God, Abraham would truly hear the words of God, and sometimes God would appear to him. God would show him things He was going to do, even beforehand – like He did in the matter of Sodom and Gomorrah, and in the matter of the coming of Isaac. Jesus even taught that Abraham saw the days of Jesus in a vision. Being a friend of God is a choice blessing, and we can have it because of what Jesus has done for us. Thank God.

The righteousness which counts with God is the righteousness of His own perfect Son, Jesus Christ. Without this righteousness, you won’t make it, no matter what good things you do.

On this site is information which if applied will enable you to get the curses broken off your life and enter into every one of God’s blessings. Even though Jesus has payed for these things, you will only get them if you do your part. Our prayer life, our confession of God’s Word, and our obedience to His voice in the things He reveals are all very important. We need to learn obedience even sometimes through the things we suffer. Nevertheless God’s purpose is not primarily that we suffer, but rather, that we become like Christ and inherit all blessings together with Christ. The sufferings are just temporary, and necessary things we must pass through in order for God to get the desired result.

God gave so many blessings to Abraham, and these blessings can be yours, if you meet the conditions. God wants you to meet the conditions so that you can be blessed! He will help you to qualify, if you are willing.

What do YOU think?

  1. I am in a relationship for 7 years and we have a beautiful daughter of 6 years, we are not married yet, but last 2 years I left my boy-friend cause he never had attention for me.In the meanwhile I met someone, and I thought I was falling in love with. Last year he came to me again begging me to forgive him that he will change, he got so depressed that he had to get medication to survive the separation. After 2 months I decided to give him another chance. He was treating me better but my mind was still on the person I met recently. After 7 months I wasn’t giving him the affection he needed intimately, and I was in a state of depression, I quit my job and got a new job that was not paying that good. We had arguments again, money problems ect. One day he confessed to me he was having an affair, and he was getting feelings for this person, that’s why he is telling me cause he wants to end it. He called the woman up and told her in front of me that it was over and that he told me everything, I talked to the woman also, crying asking her why she was having in affair with someone who has a family house and everything together, she told me that I wasn’t treating him well. Anyways the affair is over and me and my boy-friend went for help to a christian church, we were introduced to God again and I received the Holy spirit and I am a changed person, for him it didn’t happened yet but he is still going to church with me and we are getting counseling from one of the church members. We also are getting married soon, as soon we finish the counseling for getting married lessons. I am treating him so much better and I forgave him, cause I was the one that was not giving him enough sex at home and attention. Everything is going well with our relationship, except for our sex live, I feel he is not sexually attracted to me. He went from wanting sex the whole time, to not wanting any sex with me since he told me about the affair. We have intimacy, but it doesn’t end in sex. I feel so humiliating it is the worse feeling ever, I feel ugly, even though I am better looking than the one who used to be his mistress. I think he is sexually attracted to the other woman and not me. I pray everyday I read the bible, asking God to heal my relationship. I know that God is going to hear me, I am putting my trust in him. I want to feel loved again 100% not 90%. Please pray for my Relationship … Soraya

    • warrior daughter says:

I am troubled by your post…You state that you have received the Holy Spirit but it seems that your boyfriend is more aware of sexual sin than you are…Sex and love are not the same thing…You need to remain celibate until you marry…By engaging in sex, you are opening the door to Satan and with this will come many problems…I pray that your counseling that you are receiving is from God and that you will be able to see for yourself just how much damage you are doing to yourself…….Again sex and love are not the same and one must learn that sex speaks to our flesh but love speaks to our soul….The combination of the two is what God speaks of and ok’s but only in the marriage bed……Outside of marriage it is a sin that will destroy the person…….

  2. I found this story through an e-mail, and it just blessed me and enlightened me.
it’s wonderful reading, and in the end, God wins! Yeah, God 1 the devil 0! I love it!

Hope it blesses you too, and maybe gives you some ammo the next time some unbelieving smart alec tries to throw a monkey wrench in your faith with head questions instead of heart truth.
    Here it is in full:

    GOD vs. SCIENCE

This one will keep your attention to the end. It really makes you think.

A professor begins his school year with a lecture to the students, ‘Let me explain the problem science has with religion.’ The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand.

    ‘You’re a Christian, aren’t you, son?

    ‘Yes sir,’ the student says.

    ‘So you believe in God?’

    ‘Absolutely.’

    ‘Is God good?’

    ‘Sure! God’s good.’

‘Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?’

    ‘Yes.’

    ‘Are you good or evil?’

    ‘The Bible says I’m evil.’

    The professor grins knowingly.

‘Aha! The Bible!’ He considers for a moment. ‘Here’s one for you. Let’s say there’s a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?’

    ‘Yes sir, I would.’

    ‘So you’re good.’

    ‘I wouldn’t say that.’

‘But why not say that? You’d help a sick and maimed person if you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn’t.’

The student does not answer, so the professor continues .

‘He doesn’t, does He? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him.. How is this Jesus good? Hmmm? Can you answer that one?’

    The student remains silent.

‘No, you can’t, can you?’ the professor says.

He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax.

‘Let’s start again, young fella. Is God good?’

    ‘Errr yes,’ the student says.

    ‘Is Satan good?’

The student doesn’t hesitate on this one. ‘No.’

‘Then where does Satan come from?’

    The student falters. ‘From God’

‘That’s right. God made Satan, didn’t he? Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?’

    ‘Yes, sir.’

‘Evil’s everywhere, isn’t it? And God did make everything, correct?’

    ‘Yes.’

    ‘So who created evil?’

    The professor continued,

‘If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil.’

Again, the student has no answer.

‘Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist in this world?’

The student squirms on his feet.

    ‘Yes.’

    ‘So who created them?’

The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his question.

    ‘Who created them?’

There is still no answer. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is

    mesmerized.

    ‘Tell me,’

    he continues onto another student.

‘Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?’

The student’s voice betrays him and cracks.

    ‘Yes, professor, I do.’

    The old man stops pacing.

‘Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen Jesus?’

‘No sir. I’ve never seen Him.’

‘Then tell us if you’ve ever heard your Jesus?’

    ‘No, sir, I have not.’

‘Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God for that matter?’

    ‘No, sir, I’m afraid I haven’t.’

‘Yet you still believe in him?’

    ‘Yes.’

‘According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?’

    ‘Nothing,’

    the student replies.

‘I only have my faith. ‘

‘Yes, faith,’ the professor repeats. ‘And that is the problem science has with God. There is no evidence, only faith.’

The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a question of his own.

‘Professor, is there such thing as heat?’

‘Yes,’ the professor replies. ‘There’s heat.’

‘And is there such a thing as cold?’

    ‘Yes, son, there’s cold too.’

    ‘No sir, there isn’t.’

The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested.

The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain.

‘You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat , a little heat or no heat, but we don’t have anything called ‘cold’. We can hit up to 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that.. There is no such thing as cold, otherwise we would be able to go colder than the lowest

-458 degrees.’ ‘Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of heat. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.’

Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom, sounding like a hammer..

‘What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as darkness?’

‘Yes,’ the professor replies without hesitation. ‘What is night if it isn’t darkness?’

‘You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it’s called darkness, isn’t it?

That’s the meaning we use to define the word.’

‘In reality, darkness isn’t. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?’

The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him. This will be a good semester.

‘So what point are you making, young man?’

‘Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed.’

The professor’s face cannot hide his surprise this time.

    ‘Flawed? Can you explain how?’

‘You are working on the premise of duality,’ the student explains. ‘You argue that there is life and then there’s death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism , but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it.’ ‘Now tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?’

‘If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do.’

‘Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?’

The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed.

‘Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a preacher?’

The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the commotion has subsided.

‘To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean.’

The student looks around the room.

‘Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor’s brain?’

The class breaks out into laughter.

‘Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor’s brain, felt the professor’s brain, touched or smelt the professor’s brain? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable,

demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, with all due respect, sir.’ ‘So if science says you have no brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir?’

Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the student, his face unreadable.

Finally, after what seems an eternity, the old man answers.

‘I guess you’ll have to take them on faith.’

‘Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists with life,’

    the student continues.

‘Now, sir, is there such a thing as evil?’

    Now uncertain, the professor responds,

‘Of course, there is. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man’s inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.’

    To this the student replied,

‘Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God’s love present in his heart. It’s like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.’

    The professor sat down.

    End

Doug’s comment: Yes, he sat down. He sat down because he had just gotten OWNED by the truth of God’s word!

    • jesseedavis says:

Oh how I love this story. God has given me some answers through it, or at least began to explain some things to me.

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
      Isaiah 45:7

It explains that God created the absence of God. We know that this may very well refer to hell, which is the absence of God, the absence of light, the absence of heat, basically the absence of every form of energy there is including spiritual energy, like joy and hope. Anyways, I just wanted to share what God just did from this story. Thanks Doug, this was much needed.

      • Your welcome. Problem is when I posted it I was enlightened, rejoicing, now I’m floundering again. I tried to help others, and instead end up sinking myself.

        • jesseedavis says:

Don’t worry about it, Doug! If anything take His hand and come up out of the water.

You know, you can take someone else’s hand and not sink yourself too! 🙂

        • Hi Doug,

There are a lot of stories that float around under the name of inspiration. I tend to be a critical thinker when it comes to theological ideas. There is no need to feel like you sunk yourself. It is not about you and it is not about me, it is about Jesus Christ. We are iron sharpening iron. We all need each other brother. I’m just trying to keep the discussion Bible based so when others come upon it they realize what the Bible says about the topic. You brought up a very good topic and that’s all there is to it! We are on the same team. Thank you!

          Blessings and Peace,
          Timothy

    • JustAGuy says:

Jesse brings up an excellent verse that shows the student’s response to be in error. It begs the question, “How can God create a non-item?” He created both, light and darkness. He created both good and evil.

Lets take a look at the verse Jesse brings up…

Isa 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

The word for “create” that precedes both “darkness” and “evil” is in Hebrew

בּרא bârâ’ baw-raw’ is “A primitive root; (absolutely) to create; (qualified) to cut down (a wood), select, feed (as formative processes): – choose, create (creator), cut down, dispatch, do, make (fat).

I would like to say the qualified meanings of ‘cut down’,or ‘select’ are the intended meanings for the word translated as “create”; then the verse would read “I form the light, and cut down darkness, I make peace and cut down evil”. The problem with that is this verse seems to be an emphatic statement being made and so the word ‘create’ in the ‘absolutely’ category would be more likely.

Another word that needs to be identified from this verse is “evil”.

      The Hebrew word is H7451

      רעה רעra‛ râ‛âh or, rah, pronounced raw-aw’
From H7489; bad or (as noun) evil (naturally or morally). This includes the second (feminine) form; as adjective or noun: – adversity, affliction, bad, calamity, + displease (-ure), distress, evil ([-favouredness], man, thing), + exceedingly, X great, grief (-vous), harm, heavy, hurt (-ful), ill (favoured), + mark, mischief, (-vous), misery, naught (-ty), noisome, + not please, sad (-ly), sore, sorrow, trouble, vex, wicked (-ly, -ness, one), worse (-st) wretchedness, wrong. [Including feminine ra’ah; as adjective or noun.]

From the context we can read evil as “calamity” or “affliction” and it would fit the verse very well as a juxtaposition to “peace”. “I make peace and create affliction.” Or, “I make peace and create calamity.”

Regardless of how that verse is meant, it is important to understand that evil is simply not the absence of good. There is no goodness, so evil happens? No. There is no good so nothing happens? No. There is evil and it is an active force. If there is no good, then evil asserts itself because it operates out of a kingdom at war with God. Evil leaves no neutral territory. It takes all that is not consecrated and dedicated to God captive.

This is why in scripture God told the Israelites to utterly destroy evil doers root and branch, women and children. Their mere presence, though seemingly harmless, was the seed of future destruction. Think of it this way… If you are being operated on, how much cancer is it safe to leave? Doctors go to great lengths to remove even the hint of cancer because it is not neutral. It may be benign at some point, but its presence always has the possibility of becoming malignant.

Evil is not passive. Evil is aggressive. Did Eve invite the serpent to lunch? No, it showed up and started yapping at her quite uninvited.

As Christians we are told that ‘strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.’ Hebrews 5:14. We have to discern evil for what it is and what it does. What it looks like and what it does not look like.

Why? Because a long time ago, in a place far away, there were two people and two trees. And the two people ate the fruit of the tree of ‘the knowledge of good AND evil’. We have taken unto ourselves to ‘know’ both good and evil – just as Adam ‘knew’ Eve and she bore a son. We have an intimate acquaintance with evil for it now dwells within. We need the discernment between good and evil so we can remove the evil and retain the good. Would you want an oncologist operating on you if he or she did not know the difference between a good cell and a bad cell? Thank God His Word is “quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12.

Verse 13 further illuminates the nature of evil. “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. In the process of examining our hearts, God finds creatures, created beings, that are invisible to our own sight. This is the manifestation of Satan’s kingdom at work in our hearts for our destruction.

We need to be in God’s Word and comparing all our thoughts and concepts to it, that we may discern what is good and what is evil. God’s Word is what reveals where one begins and the other ends, so we may circumcise our hearts accurately removing the evil while retaining what is right and good.

Make no mistake. Evil is alive and it is malignant. We must not assume it is the absence of good, or we will be overcome by it instead of being overcomers of it.

I have just posted a blog called “Good and Evil – Understanding the Origin of Evil” that further speaks to this in parts.

      Blessings and Peace,
      Timothy

When i read your prayer request,i felt your trouble, and i can tell that you really dont know what to do.
My sister,am writting this to tell you that miracles still happen,in one month alone,God delivered me from death more than 4 times.my former friend had sworn i would not see april,But as the lord lives,i am alive today to recount his marvelous deeds, guns failed, swords failed, witchcraft failed, road accidents failed, that it may be known that the same God of Elijah still lives.
But to touch the the hem of the garment of God there is a cost, like the woman with the issue of blood you have to shove through.
My sister, this formular has worked for me everytime i wanted great miracles, declaring a several days fast, say a week,it does not have to be a dry fast, you can survive on one meal or on fruits only, then during the fast be as far away from the crowds as possible, visit the poor and the less priveledged, call those you ever wronged and ask for forgiveness, those that wronged you, hurt you, abused you and mistreated you call them and tell them that you have forgiven them and tell them of the love of God,humble down and serve the servants of God,send simple gifts to loved ones, preach to a difficult person and tell them of the saving grace of God.If you are a person on authority check whether all those under you have a genuine complain and solve it.
Then call on the name of God,and as surely as He lives, your requests will be given to you in lightening, thunders and storm, everyone around you will know that the Lord has visited you.
My sister its not a rule, may be its my own rule as the spirit led me,but it has always worked for me.
I will however stand with you in prayers and you better believe in miracles.

Last year I posted 8 items on this site but I can’t seem to find them yet. Last December all I wanted to do was sleep. I lost interest in about everything.; even everyday things.

In December I had a sleep test. I have sleep apnea. I quit breathing 88 times in an hour. The
tester said I was close to a serious depression.

Following that I had a slight heart attack. It was a warning to start eating right and exercise more. Change a lot of my bad habits. I am on 1 liter of oxygen. My mind wasn’t getting enough oxygen so I couldn’t think right. It is slowly coming back to me. Thank God.

I have more energy and interest in the things I used to like.

Pray for me that I can work in full force like I did before.

God has a purpose for all this. Hard to believe at first but it’s all coming together.
I will tell you about this at another time. Right now I am trying to get all my note books in order so I will know what is what.

Thanks for listening to me rambling on. It feels good to feel like I am coming out of a deep sleep.

    God bless you.
