Mere Success vs A Life of Significance

Success and Significance

What is success? It has been defined in various ways. I looked online to find out, One definition says: “Success is an event that accomplishes its intended purpose.” Others say, “Success is not an event, but a journey”. Others say, “You have to look at your own core values to work out what success means for you”. So there is not one universal definition of success.  read more »

The Best Goal for a Christian - is it YOUR goal?

If you read motivational books, no doubt you have heard of the importance of setting goals. Without setting goals we tend to drift and we don't achieve great results. Without strong goals all we tend to do is "get by".

Some motivational books encourage us to choose any goal we like. Could be a large house in a good neighborhood paid off, or a certain kind of car, or holiday. It might be a career achievement. The books then go on to give you some principles through which you can achieve your stated goals. read more »

Principles of Leadership

What is leadership?

Leadership is the ability to obtain followers. Leadership is influence. You are a leader to the extent that people are following you.

Why is leadership important?

Leadership is important because it influences the destiny of people. Leadership also determines, to a large extent, what a group of people will be able to achieve. Leadership moves people towards common goals, principles and values. Good leadership enables people to work together well, and realise their potential. Poor leadership frustrates both people and projects. read more »

Walk in Courage (i)

Everywhere I go, I am always asked why it is that God chooses to use me. People say: "You were born into a Hindu family, in a place called Bellary which no one has ever heard of. Yet God uses you so powerfully. What's the secret?

Well, brothers and sisters, I can honestly say that God has no favorites. He never says that one man is very special and another is not. To God, every one is equal. The Bible says that we serve a God who is no respecter of persons.

So if it is true that God loves everybody the same, why are some people used and others not? read more »

What does the Bible mean by the knowledge of God?

"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." John 17:3

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." Proverb 9:10

Jesus Christ did not die simply that we may have knowledge of the Bible. Jesus Christ died that we may know God.

The Hebrew concept is knowing is different to the Greek concept. Greek style knowledge is scientific, academic, reasoned knowledge. It can be totally detached from emotion. read more »

Warnings from the Book of Proverbs - Part 1

The Warnings of the Book of Proverbs

Don't join with violent men to rob people - if you do it will kill you.
(Proverbs 1:8-19)

If you keep refusing to listen to Wisdom, one day you will have calamity, terror will come upon you, and then it will be too late - Wisdom will just laugh at you and mock you. (Proverbs 1:24-28)

Turn away from Wisdom, and it will kill you. (Proverb 1:32).

Be complacent in your rebellion against God, and it will destroy you. read more »

Why Teaching and Knowledge is So Important

I am on a search for wisdom and some of the things I am realizing are very basic, yet I think they are easily ignored.

The Book of Proverbs in the Bible is God's book of wisdom. Written by a man who at one time had more wisdom than any man who had ever lived, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, there is a lot there for us to learn and consider.

It says, in Proverbs 1:22 " How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? read more »
