The Rolling Stones years ago came out with a song "Sympathy for the Devil". Includes these lyrics:
"I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith"
and
"Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me lucifer
cause I'm in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or Ill lay your soul to waste, um yeah"
This song contains various boastings of Satan concerning some of his various accomplishments - such as the Communist Revolution, the condemnation of Christ by Pilate (a counter productive move for the devil if ever there was one) and the destruction of men's eternal souls and their faith. Its remarkable how open the devil can be concerning his true agenda. It is only the spiritual stupidity of man that gives the devil any place at all in the light of such arrogance and hatred towards us all.
Lucifer knew the glory of God but turned his back on God seeking to be god himself. But unlike the true God who desires that all men be saved and come to the knowledge of truth, Satan desires to destroy your soul.
If Satan had the power to destroy your soul without your consent, he would have already done so. But Satan lives in a world created by God - and has definite limits on what he can do. My advice to you is never to yield to the devil, never to have sympathy for the devil and more than you would on a painful cancer consuming your body.
When you are tempted to do evil, to compromise, to turn your back on what the Lord is telling you, remember the nature of your tempter. You are dealing with a spirit being that intensely desires that you go into eternal torture, grief, remorse and loss.
