Who is God?

The Nature of God

The Issue of Worship

In the previous lesson we saw that the Bible is God’s word to us and speaks with the authority of God to us regarding many things. One of the most important revelations we can receive from the Bible is the character of God. The Bible tells us what God is like - his attributes, his ways in dealing with mankind, his heart. Our traditions, preconceptions, experiences and reasonings do not always tell us the truth about God. The Bible does however.  read more »

Do we really KNOW and APPRECIATE WHO Jesus is?

I've come to see a little more why of all the things that could have been recorded in Paul's letter to the Ephesians concerning the way Paul prayed, one thing that prominently features is as follows:

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, (Ephesians 1:17)

I've realised that this really is THE BIG ISSUE. Do we know who He is? I'm not talking about being able to give off a rote answer like little children in a Sunday School class. "I know, I know, Jesus is the Son of God!". Not like that. I mean, do we appreciate even the meaning of the words we say here? read more »

The Real Jesus

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8).

"Who do men say that I am?" - Jesus
(Matthew 16:13)

In the time of Jesus' earthly ministry there were diverse opinions about who Jesus was. Some thought he was a reincarnation of John the Baptist or one of the prophets like Elijah or Jeremiah. If there was confusion then about who Jesus was, how much more today after the passing of so many years. read more »

the Trinity the way that I understand it!

To me most of the Trinity of God is pretty well wrapped up in one Word,"Emmanuel" which means God with US. I have found many verses that explain the trinity to me and I just wanted to start from the Beginning "Genesis 1:1-3. 1 In the beginning God (Body) created the Heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without Form, and Void; and darknes was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God (spirit) moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God Said (Jesus the soul ) let there be light: and there was Light. All 3 parts of God wor working together to make the Heavens & the Earth. read more »

The Lord Jesus Christ

WE BELIEVE in the Lord Jesus Christ, the second person of the triune Godhead, who was and is the eternal Son of God; that He became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary.

WE BELIEVE in His sinless life, miraculous ministry, substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, glorious ascension, and abiding intercession - Isaiah. 7:14; Matt 1:23; Heb. 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22; Acts 2:22; 2 Cor. 5:21; Heb 9:12; Luke 24:39; 1 Cor. 15:4; Acts 1:9; Eph. 4:9-10; Rom. 8:34; Heb. 7:23.

The Parable of the Lost Son

God's Attitude towards lost people

Read the story of the lost son in Luke 15:11-32.. The context of this story is found in Luke 15:1,2. "Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, 'This Man receives sinners and eats with them.' " . In response to this criticism, Jesus tells three stories which all reveal something of God's great love for lost people, and His great joy when they return to Him. read more »

Some say Jesus was a prophet of God, others a good man. Some say he was an imposter, a magician. Others say Jesus was an adept of mystery religions. read more »
