I'm a Christian. Now if I ask "what is the good news of Jesus" I would expect answers along the lines of: God loves you enough to die for you, your sins can be wiped clean by the blood of Jesus, your eternal salvation is guaranteed, you can have a personal relationship with God etc.
But in what way is any of this good news to my non believing neighbor? If they don't believe in(or at least think about) a God who will judge them when they die, if they feel more or less happy with their life and consider themselves a reasonably good person, what is the good news I have for them?
It seems to me I have to make them unhappy and miserable first before being able to give them any good news!
I'd be interested in anyone else's thoughts on this.

Interesting question...
Without Jesus, people, even when they look happy, tend to have a void in their hearts and lives. We all have our struggles and pressures. And as we grow old, we need assurance of eternal questions. The devil is doing a great job of making people miserable here and now.
There are those of whom you speak who are pleased and happy with this life. And that is a shame. Jesus sorrowed after the rich young ruler refused to part with his worldly goods to gain eternal life. The good news is that without Jesus ALL of us - 100% - would perish. With Jesus, we at least have a choice. The Good News is that there is a choice! Before, there was none.
When people make the wrong choice and choose the things of this world over the things of God, that is indeed sad - but it is not God's fault. He gives ample warning, examples and instruction in the Bible. Even those living "happy" lives, do not have assurance of eternity apart from Jesus Christ. Keep praying for and talking with those we love and those we do not love --- for God loves them and is not willing that ANY should perish.
