water baptism questions

i had been baptized about 12 years ago. @ that time i didnt really know what it meant. i was a teen and my father suggested i do it. a few months ago i was saved and joined a church. he asked if i had been baptized and i said yes. he said i didnt need to do it again. is water baptism necessary in order to be saved and go to Heaven?

Water Baptism

Mark 16:15 "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned" The baptism referred to here is the one done by the Lord Jesus himself for He is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit (John 1:33).. He puts one into the body of Christ. It is by the Spirit. Like it is written in Romans 8:9 "And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ." One who is born again need not worry, for the acquisition of the Spirit of Christ is part of the 'Salvation package'.

If the Lord is leading

you to be rebaptized then do it. I was baptized as a child but at that time didn't really understand. Still learning by the way! Anyway I was rebaptized in 08 with a better understanding. I feel The Holy Spirit lead me to do this. Besides whats the harm of it? Blessing!

rebaptism

according to me i think it is not necessary for someone to be rebaptised. jesus christ died only once and rose never to die again. baptism means death and resurection with christ. why then would one choose to die a second death while christ did not

Acts 2: 38.

Acts 2: 38.

Water Baptisim

is water baptism necessary in order to be saved and go to Heaven?

If water baptism was necessary for one to enter heaven, then all death bed repentances would be in vain.

As was stated listen to the Holy Spirit & if you are drawn toward being re-baptized then by all means do it.

NOW I GET IT

I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THAT. THIS MAKES SENSE. THANKS FOR ANSWERING.

Listen to what the Holy Spirit says

I was in a similar situation. I was baptised as a baby, in a Catholic manner. Two years ago I was saved and born again. A year later, I got baptized. I was born again so everything before that did not seem important to me. It felt right for me to do it. It is more than a ceremony, it was moment of such closeness between me and God.

Not everything is black and white. You have to listen to your heart to see what God wants. Read the Bible, seek with your heart and you will know. I dont have the formula, but He has the answer.

Be blessed
