The Amos War.

The Amos war is tied to the Obadiah war that is tied to Psalms 83 war that is tied to the Isaiah 17 war. T%he Bible is 100% these things must happen in our Generation we are living prophecy...Surely Icome quicly Even so come Lord Jesus.Thus saith the Lord; For three transgression of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom: [7] But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof: [8] And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.”

1. Reason for Destruction

Notice the reason for God’s wrath in verse six. He says for three transgressions (for everything you have done) and for four (but specifically for this reason) I will not turn away from punishing Gaza and the Palestinian people. What was that specific reason? They carried away captives. – What was it that we said started the battle in the Middle East? – Hamas, the terrorist group from the Gaza Strip took an Israeli soldier captive.

2. Punishment Given

Next, look at the punishment that God promises to send in verse 7. He says he will send down fire and devour the palaces thereof. Have you been watching the evening news when they show pictures of Israel bombing Gaza and sending in tanks? Fire is reigning down on the Palestinians from the sky. What an incredible prophecy, written almost 3000 years ago. We are seeing it be fulfilled right before our very eyes.

B. Lebanon and Hezbollah

But if that isn’t fascinating enough, Amos goes on to describe the downfall of the other party fighting against Israel today.

Tyrus is the city mentioned in the Bible that comes under God’s judgment in Amos 1:9-10. By looking Tyrus up in the Bible Atlas, we see that it is present day Tyre. A city in Lebanon that has been mentioned as being on the receiving end of some of the Israeli bombing campaign. Likewise, since Tyrus is a city mentioned in connection with a specific area, we know that the prophecy in Amos verse 9 and 10 is talking about the entire area around Tyrus, specifically, present day Lebanon. Let’s read.

Amos 1:9-10, “Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom and remembered not the brotherly covenant: [10] But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.”

He says for three transgressions (for everything you have done) and for four (but specifically for this reason) I will not turn away from punishing Lebanon. What was that specific reason? They carried away captives. – What was it that we said started the battle in the Middle East? – Hezbollah, the terrorist group from the southern Lebanon took two Israeli soldiers captive.

But notice that God gives two reasons for His judgment on Lebanon. He also says that they remembered not the brotherly covenant. Could this be a reference to the agreement with the UN that the Lebanese government would see to the disarmament of Hezbollah and occupy southern Lebanon if Israel withdrew its troops? The agreement that was followed by Israel but totally ignored, and therefore broken, by Hezbollah and Lebanon. – It just might be.
