Temptation

How to Overcome Temptation

Satan will try to get me away from being filled with the Spirit, by offering in my mind temptations which appeal to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes or the pride of life.

What should I do when I am aware of temptations?

1. Look to Jesus Christ. Try to force the mind off the temptation by looking to the Lord and His Word.

2. Immediately seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

3. Endeavour, if possible, to flee temptation.

4. Pray for the Lord not to lead me into temptation.

5. Use spiritual weapons where possible - speak the Word, praise God etc.

Demon Activities

1. They tempt people to sin, by putting various kinds of
imaginations in the minds of men and women and speaking words of deceit (Genesis 3:1-6). Satan even tempted Jesus, and Jesus revealed to us the way to overcome temptation by using the Word of God (see Matthew 4:1-10).

2. They deceive (2 Corinthians 11:14). They especially lie about God, blaming all the evil on God. Many religious leaders are deceived by Satan. As long as we remain deceived on some important point, Satan's demons have something they can work with. They can return to it, like rats return to rubbish.

Prayers about Loving

Lord, make me an example to the believers in love. (1 Tim. 4:12)

Help me, Lord to purify my soul in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, and to love other believers fervently with a pure heart, as you command me. (1 Peter 1:22)

I pray that all that I do be done with love. (1 Cor. 16:14) I pray that all those around me will sense Your love through me.

Lord, I believe you help me to love my wife as Christ loved the church, and gave himself for her. (Eph. 5:25)

I believe Lord that you make me patient in all kinds of situations. (1 Cor. read more »

What Jesus did in Spiritual Warfare

God the Father sent Jesus into the world for a reason. The Bible says in 1 John 3:8, "For this purpose was the Son of God manifest, to destroy the works of the evil one." Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. One demon sensed this when he cried out through a man in the synagogue, "Have you come to destroy us?" (Mark 1).

In order to overcome the devil's works, Jesus needed to overcome severe temptation. This he did firstly in the wilderness at the end of his 40 day fast. He did it by saying, "It is written" and following it up with a quotation from God's Word. read more »

The Grace of God

This study seeks to present a Biblical teaching of how we can keep on receiving God's grace, life and power in our lives, so that we can be what we ought to be as Christians, both in the church and in the world. We will examine the subject of what God's grace is, and how it can be received and applied in our lives. This will help us to avoid the cycle of failure, resolutions, repeated failure, frustration and condemnation which is a common problem amongst those wishing to please God.

Introduction

I remember this day very well because something supernatural happened to me. I had just started opening my Holy Bible to find where to read. Suddenly, my heart caught an invisible fire. It was as if the room temperature had suddenly been increased. Had the house caught fire? No, there was no visible smoke or fire in the room.

I realised that this was the mighty presence of the Holy Spirit. read more »
