Water baptism

Baptism in Water - by Ps John Iuliano

WE BELIEVE that baptism, by single immersion, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, is enjoined upon all who have repented and have believed in Christ as Saviour and Lord, and that it is symbolic of our identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection - Matt. 28:19,20; Acts. 10:47,28; 2:38,39; Rom. 6:4,5; Col. 2:12; Mark 16:16.

An ordinance is an outward sign of an inward work. The word ordinance literally means "something commanded and enforced by the proper authority”. read more »

The Lord's Supper

WE BELIEVE the Lord's Supper, consisting of the elements of bread and the fruit of the vine, is the symbol expressing our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:4); a memorial of His sufferings and death (1 Cor 11:26); and a prophecy of His second coming (1 Cor 11:26), and is enjoined upon all believers "until He comes". Luke 22:15-20; Matt 26:26-28; Acts 20:7.

In much traditional protestant theology, especially amongst the followers of Calvin, there is a strong belief if the "total depravity" of those who are not regenerate by means of the gospel. The idea here is that nothing an unregenerate person thinks or does is actually clean or righteous. There are also those in various traditions who believe that without water baptism, a person is not born again. read more »

The choice I made - baptism

Last Sunday I was in a meeting, where about 20 young people were baptised.

The service before the baptism was one that made me remember - or understand more - what it means to be baptized. I couldn't help start taking notes.

Baptism of John, and baptized into Christ

In Paul's days, he met someone who only knew about the baptism of John(Act 18:25-28) - baptited into forgiveness of sin, but did not who the baptizsm in Christ. read more »
