Powerful Prayers

Heavenly Father, according to your promises I pray these prayers in the Name and the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ:

Dear Holy Spirit, keep me abiding in Jesus. Also, make God's Word to live and abide in Me. Then you promise that I shall ask what I desire, and it shall be done for me. I want all my prayers to be answered. (John 15.7)

"Oh, that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that your hand would be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that I may be free from pain." So God granted him what he requested. read more »

The Wilderness Experience

After a person truly turns to Christ and receives the assurance of God's forgiveness for their past sins, there is usually a short period of joy and blessing where everything seems so wonderful and new! During this period answers to prayer come easily, and God seems to give lots of favor. This may be compared to the joy that the Israelites had in leaving Egypt to head for the Promised Land. read more »

The power in your words

Words – the Key to a Better Life

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit" (Proverbs 18:21)

Is there really power in your words?

According to the Scriptures, the tongue has a power. Notice it says here, "the power of the tongue". Its obvious that the power referred to here is not the physical power of the tongue as a muscle, but the power of the words it produces. I've never heard of the word "tongue" used in relation to God Himself. Its a word used of human speech. So we can see that the Word of God is saying that our speech is tremendously important, powerful and significant. So much so that our words are a matter of life and death. Perhaps this is why Jesus declared, "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment." (Matthew 12:36). "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." (Matthew 12:37). These declarations of Jesus Christ should cause us to sit up and take notice, and consider very carefully what kind of words are coming out of our mouths and why. read more »

Repentance from Dead Works

Introduction

In previous lessons, we have seen the wonderful provision that God has made for us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We have seen that this work of God for us was designed to reverse all the effects of man's rebellion against God. All the bad things that we deserve were put on Jesus at the cross, while all the blessings of the Kingdom that belong to Jesus we share in through the cross and the resurrection.  read more »

Long Time Lesson

For a long while I have wrestled with God (not nearly as effectively as Jacob had done) regarding many things. Chief among these was" why?"
I never had (much of) a problem with predestination or election, etc. Or even with such questions as "how could a loving God do allow such and such to happen to me." Or "why would God allow children to face such horrors as..." Fill in the blank. My question for God was this: read more »

Prayers to Speak in Faith

Lord, remind me that whatever word is not of faith is sin. (Romans 14:23)

Lord, I thank you for the faith of God. (Mark 11:22)

Lord, thank you that I can say to the works of the devil "Be Removed!" without doubting in my heart, but believing that what I say will happen, and I shall have what I say. (Mark 11:23)

Lord, help me to mix the Word with faith. (Hebrews 4:2) read more »

Doubting Brother

Hi all,
My name is Emily and this is my first blog.
I have a brother who is Christian, but doubts God.

I am in the seventh grade and learn about religion in school. Todays lesson was on faith in God. We learned the the definition of faith was belief in God. Also, we learned that faith is a girt of God's invitation to share in His life and love for ever and that faith is a response tp either accept or reject His offer to believe in Him. Faith affects every single aspect of our lives! read more »

Facing your internal conflicts

I want to bring this thought to you from a sermon I heard by Bishop T. D. Jakes. While preaching articulately about the boy who was demon possessed, Bishop mentioned about how the father of that boy had brought his son to Jesus for healing and yet he cried out to help his unbelief.
