Evil spirits entice people with sinful temptations. When yielded to, temptation result in corruption and eventual domination by evil powers.
As well as this, we could consider the false gods, philosophies and religious movements with which people are led astray.
As well as this, there are other spirits which work to bring destruction to people's lives in different ways.
This article seeks to list many of these evil powers. It cannot be exhaustive.
Sin can be divided into three categories: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. (1 John 2:16). To love these things is to love the world, and to love the world is to love these things. We are warned: "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him" (1 John 2:15).
The lust of the flesh has to do with giving oneself over to the desires of the body, being ruled by bodily desires. Included here are things like drunkenness, sexual sin,

How dreadful are these things?
It's been a year since I accepted the Lord and His salvation, yet right now as I'm writing this msg I am fighting with the guilt of getting drunk last night and fornicating with my boyfriend. I am fully aware of the sin I have committed against Jesus and I feel horrible inside being heavily convicted by the Holy Spirit. How dreadful are these things of the world, like nightclubs and alcohol and how difficult it is for me to fight against my own stinking flesh's desires? I hate it, but sometimes I am overwhelmed by the desire to drink and when I do so I fall into the sinfulness of sex. Nevertheless, in my walk with God I am going to grow stronger and learn how to stand tall when the evil one hits me with temptation. My advise to anyone caught up in the same situation is to stay close to the Lord even when you sin, although the guilt may be heavy on your shoulders, DO NOT let go of the Lord's hand. I pray that Jesus will give me and all of you's strenght to fight our own flesh and its desire. Thank You Father for Your never-ending support and Your giant dose of mercy every single day of our lives, in Jesus name, Amen.
