Can someone explain to me how rock-n-roll music is evil? I’ve seen many postings on this site stating that rock music is evil and I don’t understand how a type of music can be evil. Lyrics yes, but musical notes seem pretty harmless to me. I’ve searched the Bible from cover to cover and I can’t find anything against rock. I’m not being argumentative, I just don’t see how one particular style of music can be anymore evil than, let’s say, a computer. If I use the computer to visit pornographic web sites, its bad. If I use it to go to Christian web sites and study God’s Word, its good. It seems to me music should be the same. If I use music to praise God, its good. If I use it to curse God, its bad. I would appreciate any feedback on the subject.

rock and roll music
This is what I understand about music....I am not an expert...Pagan societies used music to summon up demons and a lot of it had to do with the beat of the drums....I have been in churches where the beat of the drums have caused me to want to tear off my clothes and dance naked...I did not do this but rebuked the thought...

First and foremost, it is a noise. You can make soothing music or music which agitates. Like beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, so is music to different ears. There is music in nature, the sounds and rythms found in our factories or the laughing of a brook, the singing of the birds, the wind in the trees, and even the honking and rush of traffic. Some lyrics lead to nothingness while other lyrics build and encourage.
