My King

I desire only of you my King
Don’t let anything come in between
You are me Saviour and my Lord
For long I’ve suffered
For long I’ve cried
My tears would have rolled down to your heart
I called to your Name everyday
As I waited for you to return
I knew you would come to deliver
I know you love me more than I do
You paid for my price on Calvary
You had designed me with your Blood
You wanted me to be your part
In your love I rejoice
You had blessed me like a blessing

I remember in my childhood
You had come my King
When I first saw you I was drawn to you
And towards you great grandeur
I would smile, I would be shy
I would peek through the window of my heart
Just to check whether you saw me or not
I would blush, when I would find
You eyes fixed on me
From whichever angle I would try
When you asked me to be by your side?
Oh! In what innocence I had told
That you were a big man
And I was a young girl
You accepted to be my friend
For I thought it would be better to be friends
Then to be by your side
I would be glad when you called be princess
Indeed I too felt I was
But then where you my prince O my King?

How selfish I was when I moved away from you
To niche a place for myself in this world
But again I remember my King
You were back to be my friend
So this time I called you my best friend
Oh! I cherished every moment
When you would smile while I would be silly
And you laughed with me at my funny tales
What I would do, you alone were my friend
You had to bear all the ups and downs of my moods
How good and patient you are
You never complained, you were never frustrated
In all my troubles, you taught me to live
To have faith and to believe
To endure the circumstances
To hope of light in midst of darkness
