Should Jewish Believers Keep the Passover?

The Old Testament Scriptures state that the Passover should remain an "ordinance forever unto Israel". But did 'forever' literally mean forever - to continue even after the New Covenant has already come?

I always knew instinctively that couldn't be the case, but I couldn't prove it until one day I decided to run a search on the phrase: "ordinance forever" in the Bible. I found that the Passover wasn't the only ordinance that was to carry-on "forever" in Israel - here is a partial list of other ordinances that were also to last 'forever': read more »

Who Has the Key?

in

"Without Limitation" by John Edwards

“Go ye into all the world
And preach the Gospel to every nation”

The Apostles heeded His Word
And went without hesitation

But until the Holy Ghost was given
The upper room remained their station

"Wait for the promise," Jesus had told them
They were filled with anticipation

In one place for ten days they waited
All in good relation

With the women and Mary and His brothers
They continued in prayer for the duration

Matthias along with the eleven
As an Apostle received his registration

For one-hundred-and-twenty people
It was a time of preparation read more »

Australians Not So Sceptical About Jesus - according to survey

By Barney Zwartz; April 7, 2009; source: http://www.theage.com.au/national/australians-not-so-sceptical-about-jesus-survey-finds-20090406-9uuu.html

"MORE than four in 10 Australians who don't consider themselves "born again" nevertheless believe Jesus rose from the dead, while one in 10 doesn't believe he even existed.

These are two of the surprising results from an independent survey of 2500 Australians, according to noted author and church historian John Dickson, co-director of the Centre for Public Christianity in Sydney.

The survey, to be released today, showed that 42 per cent of read more »

Merry Christmas

Wishing everyone a merry Christmas, from John Edwards

Social Security - the Bible Way

Are you happy with your country's Social Security system?

Moses gave Israel a blueprint for Social Security, found in the Bible.

Certainly, we are no longer under Moses' Law - since Christ came and gave us a New Commandment, which is the commandment of Love.

But since "love is the fulfilling of the Law", it means that we who are under the New Covenant will still apply the same principles that are intrinsic within Moses's Law.

Each point of Moses' Law tells us something about love. read more »

Capitalism is Biblical

I heard a Christian say she doesn't believe in Capitalism. She believes there ought to be an equal distribution of wealth. She thinks this is what Jesus said. She thinks this is 'standing for what is right'. She said we ought to maintain morals. She said we should give to the needy.

But when you think about it, she's contradicted herself on at least two points. The very fact that she mentions 'giving', is an endorsement of Capitalism, because Capitalism is defined as the 'economic system where ownership and control of capital is in private hands'. read more »

Prisons are Unbiblical

Have you ever noticed, in the Law, Moses never prescribed prison terms. Under Moses' Law, there was no prison system at all. In fact, on the one occasion someone was held in ward, it was only until his punishment could be decided - which probably took only about a day - and then the man was brought out of ward and sentenced to his appropriate punishment. But a prison term itself was never used as punishment - never. Imagine - the whole nation was to have no prisons!

We can readily see how just is Moses' system. read more »

World Economic Crisis - a Sign of the End? or Could it Be a Good Thing?

Is the current economic crisis (2008) really a sign that we are the last generation? is it really "preparing the way for an evil new world order" and an antichrist?

Predictably, many end-times preachers are now saying so, in their typical ethnocentric fashion. Perhaps these preachers have lost some value off their share portfolios so according to them that's got to mean it's the end of the world (even though billions of people in developed countries have never been able to afford shares in the first place, let alone lose some value off them). read more »

Israel 1948 and the End of Time

Must Jesus return INSIDE the generation that saw the rebirth of Israel in 1948? (referring to the fig tree in Matthew 24)

Well, isn't it already too late for that? - because wasn't that LAST generation? It's interesting how our definition of "generation" keeps getting stretched in order to accommodate our theory.

So what did Jesus mean by the fig tree shooting forth its branches? Well, it probably didn't have anything to do with the rebirth of Israel in 1948. read more »

A Sign of the End

I don't know if it is true and honest to claim that famines, pestilences, earthquakes, wars & rumors of wars and false doctrines are rapidly increasing in our generation. I'm not aware of anyone else aside from end-times preachers who believes that. read more »

A Revival of Personal Witnessing

Finally, some good news!

It is reported by Rodney Howard-Browne's ministry that 623,400 people have prayed the prayer of salvation in the past 19 months in American cities - mostly through the personal witnessing of volunteers. read more »

Charles Wesley's Reflections on George Whitefield

(George Whitefield, long-time associate of the Wesley brothers, died on September 30, 1770, in Newburyport, Massachusetts, while on another of his preaching tours in the American colonies. Balanced Response

I remember a godly, prayerful old woman who was in our church in the early 80s who has now gone on to be with the Lord who sometimes laughed to herself pleasantly and unobtrusively, after being prayed for.

I also remember being alone praying in my room, when I was a teenager, in the early 80s. I had come home from school burdened to pray for some unsaved fellow-students. read more »

Another Look at Daniel's Prophecy: "Knowledge Shall Be Increased"

Does the Book of Daniel really prophesy an end-time increase in international travel and scientific discovery?

Daniel was told, "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased".

"...many shall run to and fro..."

But could it mean many shall run with, act on, PROPHETIC REVELATION - rather than international air travel?

"...knowledge shall be increased"

Could it mean the KNOWLEDGE OF GOD shall be increased - rather than scientific discovery? read more »

If America Bombs Iran

It seems a lot of people are predicting America will strike Iran → Iran will strike Israel → Israel will nuke Iran → sparking global nuclear war with muslims, Russia & China against America and Israel, bringing human civilization to an end. But someone sent me an interesting study about, "Can America Survive an All-out Nuclear Attack?" The answer is yes. And here's the reason:

Imagine if every major population-center in America is suddenly annihilated in simultaneous, surprise nuclear attacks and America instantly loses 225 million lives. read more »

Question About Divorce and Remarriage

Jesus gave this controversial commentary on Moses' WRITING OF DIVORCEMENT:

"But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery."

My question is: was Jesus SUPERSEDING the commandment - or EXPLAINING it? By appealing to the first marriage in the garden of Eden, was Jesus superseding or explaining that particular point of Law? read more »

A Question About the 'Double Fulfillment' Hermeneutic

The following post is a question, not a statement. So you can't say you disagree with me - because I'm not asserting anything. I'm simply asking a question - sincerely.

A lot of end-times teachers and preachers are predicting that a temple shall be built in Jerusalem very soon; they tell us Russia and Iran will then surround the city and destroy the temple, and then the end shall come.

But hang on a minute - hasn't Jerusalem already been besieged; and wasn't the Temple already destroyed, in AD70? read more »

Testimony of a Student Witnessing at School

As soon as I got saved, I started witnessing to my friends at school - but at first it was just one-on-one. Then a few months later while I was getting baptized with the Holy Spirit, I saw a 'vision' of a multitude of students at my school gathered in the playground listening to the Gospel. From that moment on I started to observe a greater power in my witness. One day three of my classmates accepted Christ as Saviour, then I laid hands on them to receive the Holy Spirit and they spoke with tongues and one of them prophesied under a tree beside the school athletics oval. read more »
