Eternal Security - Dare we believe it?

Back in 1997 I spoke with a pastor and the subject of the eternal security of the believer came up. This pastor is a lovely, gracious man and is doing many things to reach people in the community with the gospel. He obviously loves the Lord and loves people. When I questioned him regarding the contents of one of the theological books he was reading, it came out that he believed in the doctrine that a truly born again believer is eternally secure, no matter what he may do from that time on. read more »

Christians who do not fear God can go to hell

Jesus warned us about the seriousness of sin when He said:

If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. (Matthew 5:29,30)

Not forgiving can send you to hell


"And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.
"So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses." Matthew 18:34,35

Who is Jesus talking to? Answer: His disciples. Who are the torturers? They are demons. What is required by God? That in view of the great amount we have been forgiven by God, we must forgive all that hurt us and do injustice to us, especially our Christian brothers. Dr Whitaker - a terrifying experience of darkness as a dying atheist

Dr Whitaker M.D. was a very well informed and well educated medical doctor and researcher who was nevertheless an alcoholic. He fell gravely ill and was taken to hospital where he was slipping in and out of his body it seems.

1 Corinthians 14:1 tells us to literally burn with desire for spiritual gifts. Are you burning with desire for these things? Am I?

The Ancient Sage prepares the brew,
There’s a deadly potion pending.
A wicked plan, a dangerous crew,
A band for war they are sending.

Deadly though that message be,
Much worse the vein that’s spiked.
Scorpions ascend from abysmal sea,
Their music has them psyched.

Thundering forth like horses into battle,
Steel guitars as locust wings they drone.
Abaddon’s there leading them like cattle,

What shall we make of Matthew 7:21-23

One of the most interesting and controversial passages anywhere in the Bible comes straight out of the mouth of Jesus Christ, and is recorded for us in Matthew 7:21-23:
