It is a mistake to focus on the leaves rather than on the root and life of the underlying tree.

It is not as if your nice friends are going to hell BECAUSE they are practicing homosexuals. That is just one way that people sin against God and break His laws. Even if they were straight, they would still be condemned if they rejected a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. So will you, and so would I if I forsake Him.

Different people make various idols of pleasure, of sex, of money,of themselves or other things. In doing so, they violate the first commandment which says, "You shall have no other god before me". Jesus said the greatest commandment is to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength". To violate this is also to reject the authority of God.

To reject the authority of God puts you outside the Kingdom of God. There is another who will claim you as his own - the devil.
