How to Lose Weight

Dear Satin,

As you say, you have gained much weight over the years. It took years to get to this stage, and it might take some months at least to get out of it. Gluttony is one form of spiritual bondage and I found it hard to get delivered of it many years ago. But it is possible.

The simple way to lose weight is to eat less. Drop sugar, white flour based products and junk food as much as you can bear.

This means that every day, you are going to have to deny yourself something that your body is craving. It IS possible to have victory.

You have to resolve that you will eat to live, not live to eat. Or to put it another way - you no longer make choices about eating based on what gives your flesh relief, but by what glorifies God. Eat food that has a lot of nutritional value, and eat a lot less food. Learn to fast. Start exercising. Convert your excess weight into spiritual power. Get your soul satisfaction directly from God.

Give your body and life to God, and look to Him moment by moment for your needs. You CAN learn a new way of living. If you focus on the Word of God, and listen to good teaching from the Word regularly, your desires will change, and healing will come to your life. All underlying psychological motivations for overeating can be ministered to by God Himself. Its your choice what you listen to, what you allow yourself to be controlled by. As you go on in this new way, don't beat yourself up if you fail occasionally. Just make the choice to let God be God in your life again.
