Caring for the earth
You write: "I am glad that some Christians believe it’s good to care of the earth. Yet so far as I have seen it is not a core Christian belief and it is one that has only begun in more recent times. Most Christians that I have come into contact with think that because the tribal deity of the ancient Hebrews gave them so called “dominion” over the earth that they can blatantly rape our mother planet."
God gave authority over the earth to Adam, Eve and their descendants. It was to CARE for the garden, not to rape and destroy the earth. So the mandate is there from Day One in the Judeo Christian worldview, not something coming only "in recent times" as if in response to the doctrines of pagans.
In the Book of Revelation it talks about God destroying those who destroy the earth, so there is the flip side.
