Was Jesus cruel?

Jesus was known for his compassion to the poor, the outcast, the widows and the sick. The Scripture does reveal He had a disregard for business enterprises which were clearly in violation of God's law. In those days, pigs were forbidden meat (for good health reasons too). So if the demons wanted to go into the pigs and destroy them, good riddance. Would you rather the demons stayed in the man to torment him? This is where Jesus is different to many today. Many would put commercial interests way above the interests of the peace of the soul of man. So they sell pornography, set up casinos, deal in drugs and so forth - all proven soul destroyers. These things are big money enterprises. Jesus hates them and if enough Christians prayed in faith God would close these things down. It has happened before. People BEFORE profits. Hardly cruelty.

Some professing Christians are cruel and hard hearted. That is because we have failed to reveal Christ and have instead at times followed after the things Jesus hates - like avarice, lust and the praise of men.

Some professing Christians are not disciples of Jesus at all, but were opportunistic religionists seeking to conquer the world using religion as a means to that end. Hence wars in the name of religion.
