An article by Evangelist Todd Bentley
The bible declares in Mark 16:18 they will lay hands on the sick and they “will” recover. The bible also declares in Matt 9:35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. In the book of Hebrews 13:8 the bible say’s Jesus Christ the same today, yesterday and forever. If Jesus is the same today as he was two thousand years ago why are all the sick not healed? If God is a God of divine healing and forgiveness is for all, then healing is for all. Why are some healed and still others seem to suffer?
I hope in this article to share with you the difference between miracles and healing, How to war for your healing? And give you hope and encouragement. As you wait with faith and patience you will inherit your promise of healing.
I know many who dispute divine healing because they don’t understand the operation of healings and miracles. Many that have been called to a ministry of healing have pulled back from the gift of God because of discouragement. What happens when you lay hands on the sick and they are not instantly healed? What do you tell them?
First I want to talk about healing. The bible makes a distinction between gifts of healing and miracles because they are different; a healing is progressive and a miracle instant!
In Mark 16:18 the word "will recover" suggests a gradual recovery, they will "get well". Another word that we see often used in scripture for healing is “therapy” and it is translated the cure or process.
We live in an instant world. I love instant miracles we have witnessed many hundreds if not thousands, but at the same time I thank God for healing. When someone is not healed; I do not tell them “ you never had enough faith” I want to encourage them, it may be the process of healing, or you may need to contend a little bit longer. I know that without faith it is impossible to please God, but if you don’t have enough faith I will let God tell you.
Healing is like a seed. The bible declares in Mark 4:3,4 behold a sower went out to sow. “And it happened, as he sowed that some seed fell by the wayside; the birds of the air came and devoured it. Jesus goes on to explain that the seed is the word of the kingdom and the birds “satan” come to steal away what was sown in man's heart.
Sometimes healing begins in seed form. As the word of the kingdom in healing is preached the healing begins. You can't see it! It is a seed. When you sow a seed you don't dig it up every day to see how it is doing. You trust that as you water that seed with continuing in the word of God and what the bible declares about healing you will receive a harvest of health. Prov 4:20-22 declares: My son give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings {word}. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.
When somebody is not healed they can leave a miracle service discouraged, in despair and feeling rejected by God. Where the process of healing may have begun the devil comes and takes the seed of healing and destroys your harvest. I want to encourage you to stay in the message of the word of God concerning divine healing and continue to wait and believe God for the manifestation of your healing, even though you may it not be able to see now. It may be a seed. A mighty miracle has begun.
When somebody is not instantly healed it does not mean that it is not God's will or they did not have enough fait
