Temptation Principle
One of the things that I ask my self when I am being tempted is;
"am I walking in a way that has opened the temptation for me?"
I believe that Michael covered that in his point #7.
the scripture says: Eph. 4:21-27
21 Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;
23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;
24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body.
26 "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,
27 and do not give the devil a foothold.
Do not be decieved if at all possible. The bible says that we must be watchfull for our adversary the devils stalks about like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour (1Pet.5:8)
Secondly, I will say that with me if after checking to see if I am walking circumspectly before the Lord, I tell myself that the devil would not concern himself with me if he was not upset about the direction that I amheading. Satan desires to have you be spent to wreak havoc and not pursue after the things of God. That is anethema to him. He hates God and will destroy anything that seeks to glorify God. Your seeking of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is such a thing. It could be that he is fearful of the work that you will be capable of one you receive your spiritual enduement from Jesus Christ the Baptizer in the Holy Spirit. Point #8 of Michaels list makes it very direct. You have nothing to fear from Satan. Walk in the power of God and His Holy Spirit and you will easily be able to resist him.
I send this prayer to all of us as believers that we have protection from satan's attacks...
Dear Father in Heaven
I ask Lord that you will allow us to see you in your glory.
To worship you as the creator of heaven and earth.
All things were made by you to glorify and give testimony of your awesome power and majesty.
Lord I ask in the name of Jesus that you protect us by your Holy Spirit from temptations. Keep the devil far from us and bind him in the name of Jesus.
i come against satanic influence in our lives.
I pray for a fresh filling of your holy spirit to stregthen us in our time of need and let us not grieve the Holy Spirit.
We submit ourselves unto your authority Lord Jesus.
In Jesus name Amen.
Walk in Wisdom Toward Them That are without Redeming the Time. (Col. 4:5)
