Having read the comments to your posting, Michael, I realize that one of my key observations, coming from years of study and practice in Christian counseling, takes a bit different angle. Perhaps it is one that most Christians would rather avoid because it opens many tough, gut-wrenching issues, both for individuals and collectively for churches, and the body of Christ.
What I refer to is how sexuality is looked at, understood and handled among Christians. The issues are much broader and deeper than sexual “orientation,†though that may be the most emotionally laden aspect. It is not just the experience of Ted Haggard, but many other sincere Christians, including men like Mel White, many years a key Billy Graham associate, which should tell us there needs to be a deeper, less culturally-driven look at all types of data on human sexuality, including the biological, sociological, psychological, etc.
