You are right. I do not stake anything eternal on that question. I grew up in a church that taught that point very well and I have not gotten past the pivitol logic of the prophecies in Genesis. It is my 'best guess' at who we are, but I do bring it to the table looking with open eyes that it may be incorrect. In which case I put my best arguments together for it and await the dismantling. If I am wrong I have more personally to gain than if I am already right. Why, because I come seeking truth, not selling it in this discussion.
