Love, Sex and Relationships

Love, sex and relationships! We all want to be loved, appreciated and have pleasure and fulfilment in our lives. God gave us all the capacity to love and be loved, to have special friendships with others. He also gave us a sexual nature, and sexual desires. This was not just so that we would keep the human race going, but also because God wanted us to enjoy oneness with a life partner. This unity is actually a very powerful symbol of the way God wants it to be between us and Jesus Christ. That is what the Bible teaches!

Sex is a gift from God. It is not evil. read more »

Pain and Suffering

Suffering is real. How can we make sense of it? What can we learn from it? Can we overcome it?

People have different ideas about what is wrong with our world. Obviously economic injustice, political factors, racism, religious hatred and greed are factors in the existence of suffering. But they are not the only ones. They all point to a far more insidious source - one which is in fact not at all far from our human hearts.

Suffering and pain tell us that something is wrong. read more »

Suffering as a Believer

Christian believers are not immune from suffering. In fact, sometimes it seems that sincere Christian believers suffer more than others! God has promised us many things, but He has not promised us immunity from suffering in this life. "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all." (Psalm 34:19). read more »

Did you come equipt with a greivence book attatched? I was wondering how many people think that they have one. I don't know where they put it, is it under their arm, or under the hair on their head, or maybe on the Souls of their feet. I have Never seen one on any one, yet if you look real hard, you may find that you have one in your heart. I always thought that people would look pretty odd running around with a book attatched to them with a name of everyone they have met on it and if for every offense they would put ;next to each name; a chicken scratch of a 1 per each offense. read more »

Life After Death

It is truly important to consider, and if possible, to know, what happens to us after we die. Some, who believe we are just accidental physical systems in an ultimately meaningless universe would have us believe that we have no existence after we die. Our personhood is finished as we become dead, rotting meat. This view generally equates mind with brain, and denies the existence of the spiritual world. In this view, your brain activity is just a product of physical laws. "Your" decisions are outcomes of the laws of physics. Don't congratulate yourself if you have this view. read more »

On Christian Contemporary Music and Christian Rock

"The disciple is not above His Lord. If we want the joy of Christ, we must do what Christ did. For Him, satisfaction was not the result of finding some Christian pleasure to compete with the world's pleasure. It was not a question of being entertained by church performances instead of secular performances. Christ does not compete by promising a religious equivalent of what the world offers, pleasure for pleasure. It is completely different. The pleasure of Christ is the will of God and its enactment. read more »

Are Miracles Real?

Should it surprise a true believer in God that God is working miracles today? According to the Bible, "Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8). If Jesus was ever a miracle worker, He is today. Did He ever tell you He had stopped doing miracles? To deny miracles is to mock prayer today, since even the slightest true answer to prayer involves a measure of divine intervention. God can do whatever He wants at any time. He has not gone on an extended vacation. read more »

Origins of Halloween

Every year on October 31st, millions of children around the world look forwards to racing home from school, eating an early dinner, scattering around to put on their costumes, grab a pillow case or a grocery bag and get ready to walk door to door shouting out, “Trick or Treat” to have somebody come to the door, sometimes dressed up themselves and receive a tasty treat to enjoy for weeks or even in some cases, even days to come. read more »

Is there a foundation for ethics in a world without God?

Definitions: by God here I mean an eternally existing, sovereign, Personal Being who created all things, and who is the ultimate lawgiver and judge of all things.

By ethics  I mean a system of ideas concerned with defining what is morally "right" and "wrong". Alternatively, ethics is concerned with what we "should" or "should not" do.

The question of ethics is important to everyone, because we all live in a world where we are vulnerable to pain. The actions of others have the potential to bring us satisfaction, or they can hurt us. read more »
