I mourn for people who are hoping to be fulfilled and satisfied in the course of their short life here on earth.
I reflected today that in just 28 years I will be 70 years of age. I am 42 now and the years just seem to keep finishing faster every year!
Maybe you are still a teenager or a young twenty-something. Time seems to move slowly enough for you right now, and the world seems to promise so much. I am telling you, its going to change sooner than you know.
I think for a lot of people we look forward to turning say 22 and think that would be a good place to stop. I'm sorry to tell you, it doesn't stop. Time just keeps marching on. You can be in denial like the 50 year old man who said that he was 22 with 28 years of experience, but I think the reality is that we are having ourselves on if we think that we can somehow hold onto youth. Everyone loses their youth eventually. Even many Hollywood starlets of a decade ago have noticeably aged despite the best cosmetic surgery and beauty products available to mankind. A lot of them really look terrible without make-up nowadays. Yes, beauty is fleeting, youth is fleeting, and life is fleeting. Even riches are fleeting.
You might think that you can be satisfied if you just get enough stuff, go to enough good parties, make enough good friends, and so on and so forth, you will have hit the mark and you will be deeply satisfied.
I don't believe any of those things will ultimately satisfy.
Neither will any sexual relationship provide the total fulfilment your soul craves.
If hot sex with a beautiful body could satisfy the soul of man in the long term, why are so many celebrities notoriously unfaithful to their partners and seem to be so miserable? Men who have been promiscuous - and I have known a few, told me that they lacked peace after their various sexual conquests and were restless within. They often felt bad about themselves afterwards and looked for another conquest just to numb the pain.
