I first read this book in the Romanian language in 1995 or thereabouts. It really impacted me then. Of course, it is not compulsory to believe in the visions and revelations of others (unless they are in the Bible), but if God speaks to you through this, then praise His Holy Name.
I imagine hell is far worse than our minds are willing to imagine. We are on this earth for a very limited season. For some people, life is cut off unexpectedly.
It is safer and better in every way to repent (turn from sin to God) than to have a theology which says you don't need to repent. Satan always likes to have versions of the Christian religion in which you don't need to fear God, turn from sin, or really trust God with your life. If the revelation of Mary Baxter is true, then such Christianity will be worthless in protecting you from the terrors of hell after you leave this earth in a few short years or decades.
The major sin that westerners need to repent of is PRAYERLESSNESS. We think we can live life properly without being in strong fellowship with God. WRONG. Without prayer, we will soon go astray. How can you love God without regularly talking with God? God is not a mute idol that cannot speak.

Not Thrilled
I am not thrilled with Baxter's books. I won't say that she is a false prophet, because I do not truly know. However, it seems very odd that Jesus would come to her in dreams for 40 nights. Then there are some things in her books that are not scriptural at all.
Of course, when she says that you can lose salvation for not believing, that IS true. The people preaching "once saved always saved" are the ones that are false.
I met this lady and author
I met this lady and author personaly in 2005. Reading from a book , and actually seeing what she is about, are truly two different things. Please do not be discouraged, or pass any judgement on Mary. I fed her at my home dinner , and talked with her with amazement. ONe thing I know, is, when a bug flew in our front door which was attracted by a lamp, she got up quick, and demanded that the bug be killed. She said, they are evil, and to just get rid of it! I asked why...and she said, that they are certain reminders of the terrifiying experiences she faced while visiting Hell. It was really something to meet Mary, her demeanor and personality, truly say....*"I have experienced something no one ever should of experienced!" This book is encouraging...anytime, I think or am tempted to backslide, I think about what is only the tip of what Hell is really like, and how ready we should always be at any given moment. God says, we are not promised another day! Death can be at your front door tommorow. Are you ready to meet your maker? If not, its time to get right with God, and accept Him as your Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ!! God Bless all who read this!
Read this...
Got the book out of the library about 1 1/2 years ago, wasn't sure what to make of it at first. (This being since the bible says we should test all prophecy, and I was quite new to this at the time!) A lot of the descriptions found in the book, however, seem to be similar to those found in the Bible 'where their worm shall not die, and the fire is not quenched' -in graphic detail! I think this may well be true, and certainly is a challenging book for those- like me- are unsure of what those who are lost will end up (I pray I may not backslide entirely and end up thus!) and our need to win people to Christ (like I don't always...) One thing I am unsure of- how much of what the Lord showed Mary Baxter just to give a sense of things (like hell being at the centre of the Earth- physically or spiritually or both?)- albeit in a very vivid, real and terrifying way?
Note, to avoid complete discouragement, read 'A Divine Revelation of Heaven', by the same author.
