UK parents don’t want Allah to teach their kids handwriting!
London, Aug.6 : British parents in West Yorkshire have expressed anger at a teacher for telling ten-year-olds to copy the Muslim prayer — “There is no God but Allah”.
Helen Green, the teacher in question, is said to have picked the “Azaan” for handwriting practice, reports The Sun.
It includes the lines “Allah is the greatest” and “I bear witness that there is no God but Allah”.
Hayley Clayton, the stepmother of a student at the Newlands Primary School in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, said she felt her child was taking an oath, rather than improving his handwriting skills.
Would a Muslim child be asked to write a passage from the Bible? she asked.
Green could have chosen a passage from a normal story book, she added.
Hayley, 23, said Mrs Green, the deputy head of the school, had acknowledged it was a “sensitive issue” because three of the 7/7 suicide bombers came from Leeds, 15 miles away.
