Does the Roman Catholic Church represent the true Christian faith?

“Let it be known to you all … by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead … This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:10-12)

“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all.” (1 Timothy 2:5,6).

Jesus said to him, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by Me”. (John 14:6)

“the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37).

The Roman Catholic church speaks truly on many issues. But the most important issue of all for us is the issue of salvation. Indeed, we have all sinned and corrupted ourselves (Romans 3:23). So much so that we can never approach God Almighty on the basis of our own merits or goodness. The question for a seeker after God is then: how may I approach God? As we can see from the Bible verses above, the only way to God is through Jesus Christ. These verses present Christ not only as being the Only Way, but also as being One who welcomes us. The Roman Catholic church has undermined this vital revelation of Christ in several ways.

The Roman Catholic church has presented Mary to the world as the one who will intercede for us to Jesus. Catholic popes have always glorified Mary. Thus Pope Leo XIII stated in his rosary encyclical, “Octobri mense” (1891): “Nobody can approach Christ except through the mother“. But this is patently false, if the gospels are to be believed, because the gospels are full of examples of people coming to Christ directly. These stories contain no references to Mary whatsoever.
The leper of Matthew 8:2, for example, did not request an interview with Mary before coming and worshiping Christ. Neither need we. Unclean as we may be, we can come to Jesus directly and receive cleansing from our wonderful Savior. He is not an angry Savior who must be placated by his mother. There is no other mediator between God and men besides Jesus. Not Mary, not saints, not special priests. None of these can repent and believe for you, and God requires you to repent and believe the gospel before you can be truly saved. “Unless you repent, you also will perish” (Luke 13:3). “He who hears My Word and believes in Him who sent Me has  everlasting life” said Jesus (John 5:24). I sincerely counsel all people of Roman Catholic persuasion to simply hear the Words of Jesus as recorded in the gospels for us. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached…” (2 Corinthians 11:3,4).

Popes and priests of the Roman Catholic church have not only presented a false Savior to the world. They have also clouded the issue of who Jesus Christ really is as Lord and Savior, by substituting another Jesus for the One that truly is. For example, they have declared that their specially blessed “hosts” in the Mass are truly “Jesus”. The Council of Trent, which is still in force today for Catholics, states that anyone who denies that the host is truly Jesus is “anathema” – cursed and to be damned. I treat this issue more fully in some of my material below. It is an important point. Its important to realise that the Bible teaches that the sacrifice of Jesus was a once for all sacrifice, and cannot be truly repeated at the Mass (Hebrews 10:12; 14).. This is where priests and popes have lied. The truth is not in them, since they blatantly contradict the Scriptures they profess to honor. They place their traditions and what they say above what God says. The two are not the same.

Many have written to me telling me that I am really very ignorant concerning the Catholic church. I don’t profess to know everything – the Catholic religion is extremely complicated and you have to study a lot to know it well. However, here is the story of a man who did study these things, lived and ministered as a Roman Catholic priest for years, and then after some agony of heart and conscience realised the error of his ways and repented, becoming a true born again Christian.

Read here the life testimony of Richard Peter Bennett who was a Roman Catholic priest and studied at the The Angelicum University in Rome.

By the way, although I’ve met plenty of people who have been turned off God by the Catholic church and its representatives, that wasn’t my personal experience. My motivation for writing is to point people to Jesus and away from the substitutes that have been offered. I don’t have some kind of grudge against the Roman Catholic church at all. I am also against any attempt by Protestants or Catholics to impose their religion on one another by force. Such things have happened on both sides and are contrary to the Spirit of Christ no matter in which camp they originate.

Do You Know the Lord?

You may know far more about the teachings of the Roman Catholic church than me. I’d like to ask you though, “Do you know the Lord?” I’m not even asking you if you know the Bible teaching about the Lord. Some Roman Catholics do know the Lord, but the majority sadly do not. There are also many Protestants who do not know the Lord. Evangelicals, those who take the Holy Scriptures as the final authority on matters of faith and doctrine, have the advantage that they tend to go directly to the Scriptures to understand God’s will, rather than to a priest. The priest may be good or he may be bad, as men count these things, but unless Jesus Christ is truly in his life, He has no chance of really showing the way to heaven. Instead, he offers rituals which may represent the life of Jesus, but don’t impart it. These rituals all symbolise the truly important things, but they confuse the form with the reality. See here.

No church can save. Only Jesus can save (Acts 4:12). Having a relationship with the Apostle Peter cannot save you. You may trust your priest. But do you truly trust Christ? The Roman Catholic church has failed to lift up Jesus Christ properly and has many times instead presented the world with “another Jesus” in the form of an icon, a host, a priest or a pope. But “Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). The real Jesus sets people free from guilt and shame, from demons and disease by giving them the truth of His Word, the power of His Spirit, and cleansing through His blood. It is this Jesus that we must come to know personally. Accept no substitutes!

Your priest may know his bishop, who knows the cardinal, who knows the pope, who traces himself back to Peter. But it should be obvious that the purity and power of the way of Jesus Christ has been lost long ago through all this transmission. A number of the popes were godless sinners, some even had sexual orgies. Others, thinking they offered God service, ordered the murder of simple gospel believing Christian people. Is it wise to just believe everything the Catholic church says without taking the time to think about the issues? What if the way of salvation taught by Rome is now radically different to the one taught be Jesus and the apostles?  Thankfully the Roman Catholic church has not been permitted by God to radically alter the text of the Bible. The Catholic Bible has the answers!

I am thankful for all the precious Roman Catholic people who truly do have the life of Jesus. I am also thankful for the stand that the Roman Catholic church has taken against the horrible practice of abortion so prevalent in western society today. Many other worthwhile contributions have been made by the Roman Catholic church in education, in medicine, and in the fight against the abuses of the communist system and more. Nevertheless, following Roman Catholic teachings on salvation will not lead to the salvation promised by God. Once we know and understand the Good News message of the Bible for ourselves, there is no need to be racked by insecurity as regards our status with God, if indeed we truly want to please Him. What I write below may seem radical, heretical and dangerous to some. I agree that the stakes are high. In the past people have been burned todeath for holding these views, fulfilling the words of Jesus in John 16:2yes, the time is coming that whoever killsyou will think that he offers God service “. Yet it with love and a sincere desire to glorify God that I write as I do. Please take time to evaluate if these things are truly so.

The article which I have written below tackles many of the core issues relating to what I consider to be the fundamental errors of the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox systems. In it I address the issues of priesthood, the mass, baptism and to some extent the issue of Holy Tradition, although I will need to write more on this later, God willing.

The Sacramental View of Salvation Catholic and Orthodox doctrine teaches that only through the
administration of sacraments such as baptism, the mass and penance can a person be saved. Is this view Biblical? Is it right? What does it mean for you and me? An article which quickly getsto the heart of the matter.

Is the Roman Catholic Church the One True Church that Jesus founded?

This is a central claim of the Church of Rome. It is based inpart on an interpretation of Matthew 16:18 “upon this rock I will build my Church”. Has the Catholic church really been faithful to Jesus Christ’s teaching and the life he calls people to? What does the Bible say about the Rock that is the true foundation for our lives? Please examine your beliefs in the light of the original Christian faith – which is recorded in the Bible.

Did you know?

  • Salvation is not obtained by good works, but by living faith in Christ and His work! “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves ; it is the gift of God, not of works , lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8,9). The Roman Catholic church teaches men that their salvation depends primarily on themselves, and that it is of works. It puts people under a system of endless rules and obligations. Those under law are not under grace. (Galatians 5:4; Romans 6:14). Unlike the early Christians John wrote to, a Roman Catholic cannot “know” that he “has” eternal life. (1 John 5:12,13).
  • There is one God and One mediator between God and men , the Man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5). To believe we need priests, saints, Mary or anyone to get to God except Jesus Christ is heresy! It means to disbelieve God’s Holy Word and make our own religious system! It is to invite spiritual deception. It takes away from the centrality of Jesus Christ.
  • God said that beside him there is no other Savior! “I, even I, am the LORD, And besides Me there is no Savior.” (Isaiah 43:11) This implies that Mary is not a Savior, in spite of what popes and priests have taught by word and example for centuries! No wonder many muslims think that Christians believe that Mary is part of the Holy Trinity! Millions of Roman Catholics treat her as a Savior and as a goddess! (In fact, the same spirit that led the Hebrew women into the idolatrous worship of the “Queen of Heaven” is responsible for the Mariolatry of today’s Roman Catholics. Jeremiah 44:17-19)
  • Mary had other children after Jesus according to the Scriptures (yet only Jesus had a virgin birth). “Is this not the  carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?” (Matthew 13:55-56) See also Matthew 12:46-49; Mark 3:31-34; Mark 6:3; Luke 8:19-21; John 7:5; 1 Corinthians 9:5, Jude 1. The prime example was James, the brother of Jesus, became the leader of the church in Jerusalem! (Acts 15:13; compare Acts 12:2 – a different James)
  • The Bible nowhere teaches that Mary was sinless , as it does concerning Jesus. On the contrary, the Bible says that “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
  • God forbids the bowing down to graven images and pictures in the Ten Commandments! (Exodus 20:4). The
Catholic church has tried to change this commandment, but it remains in the Bible for all courageous people to read. This is idolatry! This idolatry has brought spiritual blindness upon multitudes.
  • Every true believer is a priest! (1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:5; Revelation 5:10). Please read my teaching on sacramental salvation where this thing is exposed.
  • The Mass as taught by the Church of Rome is both idolatory and blasphemy! See the article on sacramental  salvation to understand why. To worship something (e.g. a cracker) which is not God is idolatory. To call something which is not God to be God is blasphemy!
  • Baptism does not make you a Christian. The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch (Acts 11:26). You need to be a disciple of Jesus before you have Biblical right to call yourself a Christian. Why did Paul say that Christ did not send him to baptize, but to preach the gospel? (1 Corinthians 1:17). It is because the preaching of the true gospel can make people Christians, when they believe, not baptism.
  • Peter was married, and most early church leaders were! (Mark 1:30; 1 Timothy 3:2-4) So why a celibate priesthood (1 Timothy 4:2). This situation combined with the penance doctrine of the need to confess all sins to a priest has led to shocking impurity!
  • No church on earth can be rightly called our mother. “But the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all.” (Galatians 4:26). Rome, on the other hand, was prophesied of by John in the Book of Revelation chapter 17, and is described as “The Mother of Harlots and of the Abominations of the Earth”. “The seven heads are the seven hills upon which the woman sits.” (Revelation 17:9). Did you know that the city of Rome sits on seven hills?
  • “Father” is a spiritual title forbidden for men. Jesus said, “Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in Heaven.” (Matthew 23:9). Do Roman Catholics obey Jesus Christ here?

About Michael Fackerell

The Christian faith is about Jesus. He came to save the lost. About Jesus Christ, Bible teaching, Testimonies, Salvation, Prayer, Faith, Networking.

  1. CoramDeo says:

depends on what you mean by represent. the simple short answer is yes.
one mediator of course Jesus is the big M. however to borrow a quote,When he commanded that “supplications, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings be offered for everyone . . . for this is good and pleasing to God our savior” (1 Tim. 2:1, 3), Paul was calling all Christians to exercise a “mini-mediatorship” through and in Christ. After all, someone who prays, supplicates, and petitions is a go-between–a mediator who goes to God on behalf of someone else and who asks the Lord to grant blessings or healing or strength or forgiveness or salvation. You go on to say Nevertheless, following Roman Catholic teachings on salvation will not lead to the salvation promised by God. Oh really. the catholic church teaches in Catechism of the Catholic Church# 2007 With regard to God, there is no strict right to any merit
on the part of man. Between God and us there is an immeasurable
inequality, for we have received everything from him, our Creator. and 2008 the merit of man before God in the Christian life arises from the fact that God has freely chosen to associate man with the work of his grace…Catechism of the Catholic Church. also By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, 18 (to whom it was said: In Isaac shall your seed be called): 19 accounting that God is able to raise up even from the dead. Whereupon also he received him for a parable. By faith Abel offered to God a sacrifice exceeding that of Cain, by which he obtained a testimony that he was just, God giving testimony to his gifts. And by it he being dead yet speaks. In James 2:24 Faith without works is dead. And these works are the works of God. the apostles themselves taught we are saved unto good works ie : the works that God has taught us is teaching us and will teach us. Abraham had to be stopped by God himself from the work in progress. that is the obedience of faith (work) of slaying his son. other wise there would not be a completion to this act of faith. Faith without the corresponding obedience (works) is dead. I could go on and on. One does not reject the catholic faith for what it really says but what they have been erroneously taught.

    People on this site !!

What I see more than anything else is that all of you are talking to a spirit of confusion.
Take the time to go back to this persons posts, see for yourself that nothing you have said is accepted, it is put aside, and more things that don’t make any sense are then said by this person,.
Honestly folks, don’t you think you have wasted enough of your time?
Do you really think, you will be able to get this person to understand anything?
Jessee, you are now trying to get this person to understand that.

” What you quoted from me was a quote from you.”

Now that could be used as a definition of CONFUSION.
Rom 14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

    • jesseedavis says:

Thank you so very much for your words. I spoke presumptuously and I’m sorry. I should’ve walked away after my last post as that was the whole point of it anyway, and so now that is the step I’m taking.

Thank you for the hand Jim, I needed it!!

      Dear Bother & Sisters,

I am not here to seek wisdom from christian proffessionals, confused people loose faith and try finding ‘GOD’ in other places.

If you do not believe in the HOLY FATHER than how can you believe in his son ‘JESUS’??

I was here to give the message hope to all mankind through the LOVE OF GOD.
and now I have done my JOB and finally off from this site.

  3. espertina mergulhao says:

    Dear Brothers and Sisters,

As the scripture says LUKE 23:33″ When they came to the place called ” The Skull,” they crucified Jesus there, and the two criminals, one on his right and the other to his left. Jesus said, “FORGIVE THEM, FATHER! THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.”

When Jesus has already asked for forgivness on behalf of mankind, its is obvious enought that Jesus loved us somuch inspite of our sins…than why hypocracy? that the mankind can not be saved through the love of GOD and JESUS.

Note: Mankind does not include only christians over the world, but people from all races
    and religons.
Christianity originated after christ died, so the forgivesness was not only
asked behalf of belivers but for the rest of mankind.

I am a CATHOLIC myself, & it is my duty to stand up for the Non-Christians because they have a heart & soul like us…i want to save myself before ‘GOD’ on the day of judgement, If i do not stand up for the people than how will i accept ‘GOD’ and Jesus to stand up for me on the Day of Judgement.. I do know JESUS, but i ask for the forgivness of people who do not belive in him and i know GOD LOVES THEM MORE JUST AS HE LOVES US ALL.

I dont want to be selfish to save my own self but indeed risk my life like Jesus Christ did for the sake of mankind as an act of LOVE for the world.

Who is Mother Eugenia, whom God the Father called “My beloved daughter”, “My little plant”?
In our opinion, Mother Eugenia is one of the greatest lights of our times, the little prophet of a new Church, in which the Father is the centre and apex of all mankind, and in which unity is the highest ideal of spirituality. She is a light given by the Father to the world at this time of chaos and darkness, so that we may see the road that has to be followed.

She was born in San Gervasio d’Adda (now Capriato San Gervasio), a small town in the province of Bergamo, Italy, on 4 September 1907, in a family of peasant background.

Her most important legacy to us is the Message of the Father (“The Father speaks to His children”), the only private revelation made personally by God the Father and recognized as authentic by the Church after ten years of the most rigorous examination.

Message given by the Holy Father to Mother Eugina:

“A mother never forgets the little creature she has brought into the world. So if a mother loves the little being i gave her, I love him more than she does, because i created him. Even it it happens that a mother loves her child less because of some defect,
I, on the contrary will love him still more. I will always love him, and even if he no longer
remembers Me, His Father and Creater, I will stiff remember him and love him”.

      Dear Brothers & Sisters!

He has not abandoned the mankind..for all things are possible with GOD. The greatest sinner can be forgiven by ‘GOD’…He is the most Merciful and loving GOD compared to any humans.

I do know JESUS (Espertina’s quote)

How do you know Jesus?? Is it through some tradition?? Is it through knowing about Him through the Bible???

…i want to save myself before ‘GOD’ (Espertina’s quote)

No one can save themselves but it is only through the Blood of Jesus is one saved…A person must be born-again for the Blood to be effective…To be born again one must repent of their sins not to a priest but to God ie ask for forgivness of their sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and stop believing in their own rightesousness and their own strength

      • espertina mergulhao says:

        Kindly justify!

        Thanks..& may god bless you.

        • warrior daughter says:

This is a trick question and you know it…….

The Blood of Jesus is what cleanses (I John 1:7) and justifies ( Romans 5:9) us in the prescence of the Father….
The Blood of Jesus reconcilates us to the Father….(Ephesians 2:13-16)
the Blood of Jesus redeems ( Romans 3:24,25) us so that we can come into the presence of the Father…
The Blood sanctifies,(Hebrews 10:29) gives us victory (Revelation 12:11) and eternal life (John 6:53-56)
These are just a few scriptures on the Blood and there are many more for the Blood is what is necessary Hebrews 9:22-23 and it is sufficient Hebrews 9:13-14

Again Espertina when were you born-again??????

          • espertina mergulhao says:

warrior daughter says: Again Espertina when were you born-again??????

            GOD BLESS!!

    • espertina mergulhao says:

Do not seek GOD from church to church or places to places & from Books to Books, for the kingdom of GOD is within you. GOD IS NOT RELIGON….RELIGON IS MAN-MADE.
Our Holy Father is Merciful, he does not abandon any race or any cultures? He is not wicked like how men depict him? Its the heart of the wicked people that depict him as a punisher if he/she belongs to this or that religon.

      • Timothy Luke says:

God is, and He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. There is the Kingdom of Heaven, and there is Hell Fire. Jesus spoke more than anyone on the reality of death. God is not within us if we have not accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. These truths are plain to read in scripture. Your post has tones of mysticism that I am not sure or not if you intended.

        • espertina mergulhao says:

If ‘GOD’ is not within us? how do every being/birds or animals survive?
You mean ‘GOD’ is only within christians? what about the other race? such as Jews? Hindus? Muslims? & all other religons?
What about the people from the jungle or from any other remote areas? who have no access to books or education? You mean ‘GOD’ wont accept them? just because they do not know Jesus or the HOLY BIBLE?

We are not here to judge anyone before the LORD! Jesus was never a hypocrate..He stands for justice before his Father.

          GOD BLESS!!

          • Timothy Luke says:

“So you happened to read the Lord’s mind…?” Yes, Espertina, I have read the Lord’s mind. We are told in the Bible to “put on the mind of Christ.” And so I have labored to do so. You may reason your reasonings apart from scripture, but in the end, it is the Word of God that will judge each of us – not our own logic.

You have accused the Lord of being wicked because he does not conform to your logic. I pray that you would read Ezekiel chapter 18 and find the error of your thinking exposed therein. It is not wise to say that if God does not see things as we see them that He is wicked and then rail on Him as devaluing His creation.

I am not here to judge, but to save from judgment. God has His plans for dealing with all mankind and it is best if we do not turn to the right, nor to the left in our surmisings.

It is quite evident to me that you espouse the teachings of pantheism. Birds and animals survive because God gives them the breath of life, not because He indwells them. The Serpent beguiled Eve with the logic that they themselves were god and needed to tap into that power.

The irony is my friend that when you felt the need to go ALL CAPS, you were judging me – while preaching how we are not to judge one another. … “Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment.”

1 Corinthians 2, teaches that there is a spirit in man. It also teaches the Holy Spirit is different from the spirit in man. Peter teaches, repent and be baptised that you may receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is only through Jesus Christ that the Holy Spirit is sent to us as the downpayment, or earnest, of our salvation.

          • espertina mergulhao says:

            Dear Brother!

Birds and animals survive because God gives them the breath of life, not because He indwells them….you are right about it! WAT ABOUT MANKIND OF ALL RACES AND RELIGONS? I REPEAT…….. OF ALL RACE & OTHER RELIGONS?
Does GOD NOT EXCEPT THEM? because they do not read the HOLY BIBLE or they not know JESUS CHRIST?

So you have been able to read the LORDS MIND? not even jesus is able to tell the end of time but except ‘GOD’, BUT HERE HERE OUR BROTHER TIMOTHY IS ABLE TO READ THE LORDS MIND, WHICH CLEARLY PROVES THAT HE IS GREATER THAN ‘THE SON OF GOD’
You seem to be talkin about birds and animals…while i mentioned the rest of all mankind? n now you are talkin about the serpent! thats the only answer you have in mind because you can not justify the truth…and so you misuse the bible scriptures to defend the truth or your hypocratic belief!!!

wat about the rest of mankind of all religons OR people from remote areas who dont have acess to books, media or education? are they too neglecting the scripture? and GOD wont accept them huh?

Timothy Luke says: You have accused the Lord of being wicked because he does not conform to your logic.
            Timothy Luke says:
The Serpent beguiled Eve with the logic that they themselves were god and needed to tap into that power.

Do not reply it to me, but to the members of this site…

            GOD BLESS YOU!!

          • Timothy Luke says:
Act 4:10-12 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Your opening questions had no other interpretations. “If ‘GOD’ is not within us? how do every being/birds or animals survive?” You equated ‘God within us,’ with ‘how do every animal survive?’ You then rant at me for speaking of animals?? I challenge you to quote the Bible to make whatever point it is you are trying to make regarding the salvation of all mankind. If we are not able to read the Lord’s mind on this, then please do not attempt to do so with your human reasoning…. Show me what God’s Word says that leads you to your conclusion. As of this moment, you have an argument without scriptural reference and I reserve the right to challenge your assertions.

You mention getting your teachings from the Holy Spirit, but the chief fruit of the spirit is love.

1Co 13:4-7 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

It does not speak well of you. It is clear that you have been easily provoked. You have belittled me, mocked my response, demanded I answer to the group for a question you personally have raised, (as though you somehow speak for the entire group). In this, your heart clearly shows derision borne of pride and not love.

If you claim your teachings are from the Holy Spirit, I believe it evident the spirit you are displaying in these posts is certainly not the one you claim to be speaking for. I challenge you to quote scripture that supports your conclusion that all men are saved, apart from Christ. Without scripture, we have the right to call your claims heresy.

          • espertina mergulhao says:

Timothy Luke says: I challenge you to quote the Bible to make whatever point it is you are trying to make regarding the salvation of all mankind.

“But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” —Matthew 19:26.

You misuse the bibilical scriptures to support your toughts..Reading is not enough, you have to be wise enough to intepert the word of ‘GOD’ .

I am not assuming that i am either wise…but before you read, ask the LORD for GUIDANCE while reading.

John 14:26 – “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you”.

As jesus promised that he would send the HOLY SPIRIT to teach us.

          • ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.’ John3:16-18

God did send Jesus into the world to save the world because He loves the world, but through Jesus, who paid the massive sacrifice that was necessary for us to be saved.

If everyone is saved apart (without) the need of Jesus, then what you are saying is that Jesus died for nothing because God doesn’t need Jesus to save the world, but He will save the world with or without Him :/ According to the above verse that is completely not the truth.

I’m speaking this stuff in love, not trying to seem ‘wiser’ than you espirtina, just speaking the truth that you need to believe in Jesus and what He did for you (died for your sins) in your heart to be saved :p

In regards to what happens to those who never hear of Jesus or other circumstances, I don’t think that is for us to know, we don’t need to know everything as humans, besides what Gods already revealed to us, just to trust that God will be just in whatever He does.

‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declared the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’ Isaiah 55:8-9

            Dear Brother,

This, is what i am exactly tryin to convince that he who never hear of Jesus ( Non-Belivers) like you said “Gods already revealed to us, just to trust that God will be just in whatever He does”,
so why do you people judge the mankind? All things are possible by ‘GOD’ and its not for men to decide.

When and where have i mentioned that Jesus died for nothing because God doesn’t need Jesus to save the world, but He will save the world with or without Him?? Could you please paste it from any my comments for going against christ!!

kindly mention which are the scriptures that i have typed are not completely the truth?
Now you seem to be versing with the scriptures from the bible and not me..which clearly proves that you are versing against the scriptures of the HOLY LORD.

And when did i say that was wise brother Nadan as i mentioned earlier that i speak the truth through the power of the HOLY SPIRIT.

This applies to all the selfish hypocratic people that think the world can not be saved through the love of GOD!!!
‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declared the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.’

          • jesseedavis says:

Seriously, enough is enough! You come here declaring in the very name of God that all people whether they believe in Jesus or the Holy Scriptures or not will be saved through the love of God and Christ. You then turn to anyone that even mentions hell, justice and condemnation and snap at them with this “I speak in the Spirit and you speak against the Scriptures” nonsense. That is enough!

You wrote, “You mean ‘GOD’ is only within christians? what about the other race? such as Jews? Hindus? Muslims? & all other religons?” and, “When Jesus has already asked for forgivness on behalf of mankind, its is obvious enought that Jesus loved us somuch inspite of our sins…than why hypocracy? that the mankind can not be saved through the love of GOD and JESUS.

Note: Mankind does not include only christians over the world, but people from all races
            and religons.
Christianity originated after christ died, so the forgivesness was not only
asked behalf of belivers but for the rest of mankind.

There will be non-believers that perish, and many of them, as it is written in the book of Matthew:

13Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

And I am here to tell you that as surely as you read this that all people who do not believe on the Son of God for the remission of sins will perish in hell and in the lake of fire, for again it is written:

42And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
43And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
44Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
45And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
46Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
47And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
48Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
36He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Does GOD NOT EXCEPT THEM? because they do not read the HOLY BIBLE or they not know JESUS CHRIST?
” and “wat about the rest of mankind of all religons OR people from remote areas who dont have acess to books, media or education? are they too neglecting the scripture? and GOD wont accept them huh?

17For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
            18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
            28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Paul declares to the Romans that all non-believers are shown by God everything needed to be saved. God shows them His power, His Godhead (which includes the Christ, Jesus of Nazareth), He shows them His wrath (and not only His wrath, but His wrath against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men), and all the invisible things of God. He shows them to every one of us, including those who never did or will even so much as hear Scripture, from the very time of creation unto the present day, and all things even understand them to the point of knowing God, but even though they knew God they did not glorify Him as God and did all sorts of evil works. All of this both leaves them justly condemned already before God and takes all excuses that any of us may have away. Maria, God is not wicked and no man is innocent and surely we are not “POOR CREATURES!!”

Maria, why do you go to such extent to declare the unsaved and condemned as saved and part of the very Body of Christ?! Why do you come to “JUSTIFY FOR ALL MANKIND IN THE NAME OF GOD,” as if you stand in place of the very Son of God? Why do you show no respect for those who are declaring Scripture about the just punishment for those who tread the Son of Man under foot?

Enough is enough, you must face a choice right now. Is Christ the only way to enter into heaven and life, or will all mankind be saved regardless of whether or not they glorify Christ as God above all other creations? It is either..or, one or the other, in this you cannot ever have both. Choose…

            Dear sister,

You say you are born-again, so you say you have changed your life & repented??? words won’t justify but your actions will justify your repentance before ‘GOD’, it is not for you to judge yourself, but to pray constantly that he will keep you away from sins through your FAITH in him.
& How on earth do you know that people dont repent other than you? Can you count the number of sinners before GOD? I am definetly one of them and how do you know that you are not one of them?
The term repentance can NOT be defined by man but only by HOLY GOD alone through you actions.

            GOD BLESS YOU.

          • Made a post about this here, just also noticed there is really some misreading going on as well. For instance espertina, warrior daugher never said that people other than her don’t repent in her post to you. She said that if someone repents then God will forgive them. I’m not sure if it’s just the english language barrier?

3chelon…wat does born-again mean? it is to commit youself to Jesus for repentance & save yourself by the blood of christ?? isn’t it??
& She just mentioned that she has changed her life after her born-again experience..
why would someone change their life? because they believe that they are forgiven by the blood of christ..once forgiven right after comes repentance…

ISN’T IT??? or do you have some other logical explanation to convince people..or maybe my ENGLISH perhaps..too hard to understand??

Here are the three verses in the Bible that the term Born Again is used.

            Joh 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
            Joh 3:7
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
            1Pe 1:23
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Where in the 3 previous verses did it say
“it is to commit youself to Jesus for repentance & save yourself by the blood of christ??”

            Eph 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

As you know, God is a Trinity. He is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In the English language, His name is God. In Spanish it’s Dios. He created human beings in His image. Therefore, we are a trinity also. Every human being has a body, soul, and spirit no matter who they are. My body, soul, and spirit is named Brenda, yours has been named espertina (if that is your real name).

The BODY gives us world consciousness and helps us to see, hear, smell, touch, and taste the things in the world. Without a body no one could see us. Our body gives us our identity. The body is temporal. It is subject to decay.

The SOUL is the real you. It is the seat of your will, your desires, and your personality. It is who you are.

The SPIRIT is to give us God consciousness. Through the spirit a person can have a relationship with God. He or she can understand spiritual things. The soul and spirit are eternal. They will never die. As far as animals go, I believe they have a soul, but not a spirit.

If a culture does not know God, they have their ancestors to thank for that. Their ancestors chose to disregard God and go their own way. Some made up their own gods to worship. Unfortunately, those descendants who came after them were dragged along with them. It’s very sad. As much as God wants everyone to be saved, not everyone is going to be saved. God has given man a will. Man can use his will to follow God or man can use his will not to follow God. God does not force Himself on anyone. As far as children who die before having a chance to decide for the Lord, they go to heaven. How do I now? Think of the son of David and Bathsheba who died. David knew he would see his son again in heaven. (See the book, “Heaven Is for Real” by Colton Burpo)

The thing to do today is to get the message of salvation out to everyone we can. Here is the message of salvation: God the Son came down to earth and took on human flesh. His purpose for coming was two-fold: 1. He came to fulfill the Laws righteous requirements, so that His sacrifice would be acceptable to God. 2. He came to save the lost. He did this by dying on the cross for the sins of mankind and taking the punishment mankind deserved. Through Jesus the sins of mankind have been judged and paid for.

When a person invites Jesus into his or her heart and accepts Him as Lord and Savior that person becomes saved. This is called salvation. Salvation is a free gift from God. A person cannot earn it, because that is the way God wanted it.

After a person believes on Jesus, the next thing Jesus wants that person to do is to follow Him. This is His commands: We are to love God and love our fellow man the way God does. That’s how a person follows Him. This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Now let me add that if a person is saved when Jesus returns, He will take that person home to heaven with Him. These decaying bodies we have will be transformed into immortal or eternal bodies, bodies that will never die. Sounds good doesn’t it. I wouldn’t mind having a new body right now. I’m 66 years old.

1st you must have knowledge of sin in order to be held guilty.2nd God breathed in man and he became a living soul (breath of God ) eternal, when man dies the breath returns to God, The spirit of man is freedom to choose his own way. the body is the house that holds these together. we were made in the image of God, a trinty ,animals were spoken into being, man was formed by God

    Dear Brother’s & Sisters!

Christianity is not suppose to be a blind belief! If you want to seek for the right answer, u got pray to our Holy Father, so that the Holy Spirit will teach you the right things that GOD wants you to know. You should only seek for the wisdom that GOD wants you to learn.
Do not fight like Hypocrates, as to who ascended into heaven. GOD IS WISDOM and we can not be smarter than GOD to prove things beyond our knowledge to people.
Do not get into religious debates but only speak the truth by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our religon is purely based on divine love and not hypocracy.

  6. I am A Catholic Charismatic Renewal Member.I want to let you know that all you guys from the Pentecostal Churches do is to critizise the Catholic Church other than taking care of your own Church. Are you guys sure that your Church is better than the Cathlolic Church. The Catholic Church has been in deep darkness in the past not because they wanted it to be so because the devil has been fighting against the Church. The HOLY SPIRIT has delivered the Church by raising up the Charismatic renewal to renew the face of the Church.Gradually the Church will have a different look.We Catholic we respect and honour Mary who was the mother of our wonderful Saviour JESUS CHRIST it is not easy to be the mother of GOD.GOD Almighter, from creation said to the serpent that the seed of a woman will crush your head and you will…………..and who is that woman?is she your mother?GOD was talking about Mary she was prepared right from Genesis. When Mary visited Eliserbeth, what happened? She was filled with HOLY SPIRIT and said why is it granted to me that the mother of my LORD will come to me.GOD himself respected and honoured Mary She played an important role in the Salvation she carried JESUS in her womb for nine months. When a child is in his mother’ womb he lives through the blood of the mother and what ever she eats.I do not accept that mary should be worship we should honour her as the mother of GOD.Why did GOD not find any other woman but mary? She was prepared from the very begining.

That is why I say Christians are the ones disgracing Christianity. We have other relegions fighting us like Jehova’s witnesses,Islam talking all sort of things about our wonderfull LORD JESUS CHRIST.Instead of us to stand as one family to glorify the name of JESUS CHRIST by making them to know that Christ is the only solution the world has we are there fighting ourselves.Doctrinal dispute is spoiling Christianity does the Catholic refuse the deity of Christ? No does the catholic Church refuse the doctrine of the Trinity? No we are many parts in one body we should stope fighting ourselves and but rather pray for each other. If the Catholic Church is going wrong you should pray to GOD and committ the church into the hands of GOD that GOD should help correct things that are wrong in the church for example GOD has formed the Charismatic renewal in order to renew the Church because we the catholic Charismatic believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit. You are not even righteous but you are critizising another .If Catholic teaching is from GOD, you will not Change it but if it is not from GOD,HE HIMSELF will change it by using catholic Charismatice renewal. Please christians learn to grow up we should pray for one another for the sake of Christ

She deserve to be honoured.Even though some catholics makes it look as if she is been worshiped.

    • Hey Buddy ,

Let me tell you that I am a Catholic and I was in the ‘renewal’ too.

The Catholic Church has more than its share of paedophiles ,
      adulterers and murders.

It is time the church , rid itself of them.

They are not even willing to acknowledge the problem.
They just present a grand and very holy picture.

Wake up and see the truth !!!

The Holy Spirit is not adequately present in the Catholic Church ,
and He is not given his due either.

The sooner you stop you false defence of the Catholic Church , the better.

      In the Lord Jesus

    • God used mary as an instrument to execute his plan for salvation. She was an instrument in his hands. God needed a woman for that purpose and that was mary. Its God the Father who chose to bless her. It’s God, the father who protected her all through her pregnancy and even after that. She definitely must have been faithful before God so that he chose her. Mary is a woman who has to be admired and respected but just like how we admire Abraham, moses, David…… for their faith, submission and obedience. Not based on the thing that She is the mother. Christ came in flesh but now he is a spiritual being.

” 46 As Jesus was speaking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. 47 Someone told Jesus, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, and they want to speak to you.”[g]
48 Jesus asked, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 49 Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. 50 Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!”” (matt 12:48-50)

” The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.”
4 “Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.” (john 2:3,4)

Christ always looked forward God the Father and did according to his will. So let us first give honor and importance to God the father and Christ more than anyone else. making idols of mary and keeping it in the church, prayers and songs in the name of mary, is not the way of honoring her. Rather it is a way of dishonoring God and his purpose. Pls stop portraying Christ still as a baby in Mary’s hand.

the catholic church does not promote reading the bible. they believe in purgatory. but why do you go there ? and for how long. christ died on the cross for our sins once and it was final. nothing that man can do can top that. what man on earth can possibly be given the power to turn a piece of bread into the body of christ ? the church coddles and protects pedofiles, is there any greater sin than that ?how can those who do this expect any other than to perish in hell. another topic the catholic church does not speak of “hell”. the church never addresses how one can be born again and find salavation. i could go on and on so let me put a period here. Hi Henery

        2 cent answer.

        Mat 1:25
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

In this verse we see a couple of things.
        1) It says Joseph knew her not until.
In today’s language this means, he did not have sexual relations with Mary, until she gave birth.
        2) A woman’s virginity is not determined by how many children she has had, but by the fact that she has had, sexual relations with a man.

Or are you saying she, didn’t have intimate relations ever with Joseph, that’s wrong.
What then would be the purpose of Joseph and Mary getting married, to legitimize the birth of Jesus?
This would also be wrong, because God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is the Father of Jesus.

We also, who are Born again, have God as our Father, through the power of the Holy spirit, because Jesus said Himself, we are born of the Spirit.

        Joh 3:5,6
        5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
        6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

        How can this be?

        1Jn 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

The seed of God, which is the Holy Spirit, dwells within us, making us, born of the Spirit also.

Moving on we come to the next truth within your statement.

“she had brought forth her firstborn son” this denotes that Jesus was not the only child she bore.

As it says in relation to God.
        Joh 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I’m sure you have seen these scriptures before, are both Matthew, and Mark wrong?

        Mat 13:55,56
        55) Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
        56) And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

        Mar 6:3
Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

        Be Blessed

        • henry jose says:

Matthew 1:24-25- “Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.”
According to Protestants, this proves that Mary ceased to be a virgin after the birth of Jesus. This is quite wrong. The Greek word for “until” or “till” (heos) does not imply that Joseph had marital relations with Mary after the birth of Jesus Christ. It simply means that they had no relations up to that point, without saying anything about what happened after that point. This is proven below by many passages. We should also bear in mind that the Bible was written several thousand years ago. It was written at a time and in languages which don’t express and imply things the same way that they would be expressed and implied in modern English.
For instance, in 2 Samuel 6:23 (2 Kings 6:23 in the Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible), we read that God cursed Michal, David’s wife. He cursed her because she mocked David for the manner in which he rejoiced before the Ark of the Covenant. As a result, Michal had no children “until” the day of her death.
2 Samuel 6:23- “Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child until the day of her death.”
Does this mean that Michal started having children after her death? Obviously it does not. This verse demonstrates that when Scripture describes something as being true “until” or “before” a certain point, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it ceased to be true after that point. Here are numerous other examples of this:
Hebrews 1:13- “But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?”
This refers to the Son of God. Does this mean that He will cease to sit at the right hand of the Father after God’s enemies are made His footstool? Obviously it does not. He will remain at the right hand of God the Father.
The Biblical Basis for Catholic teachings on Mary 22
1 Timothy 4:13- “Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.”
Does this mean that they should abandon reading and doctrine after he comes? Obviously it does not.
Acts 23:1- “And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.”
Does this mean that Paul necessarily ceased to have a good conscience after that day? Obviously it does not.
The preposition “before” can be used the same way.
John 4:49- “Come down before my child dies.”
Here we see that the word “before” can be used in a similar manner to the word “until.” This child did not die; Jesus healed him (John 4:50). Thus, the statement in Matthew 1:18, which is quoted below, that Mary was with child “before” she and Joseph came together, doesn’t mean that they came together after she was with child. It simply means that she was pregnant without any sexual contact.
Matthew 1:18- “Now the generation of Christ was in this wise. When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost.”
It’s quite certain, therefore, that Matthew 1:25 and Matthew 1:18 do not contradict Mary’s perpetual virginity in any way. Protestants cannot legitimately claim that these passages constitute proof that Mary ceased to be a virgin. These passages do not prove her perpetual virginity, either. Her perpetual virginity is proven by other things in the Bible.

          • henry jose says:

Luke 2:7- “And she brought forth her firstborn son; and she wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
Matthew 1:25- “And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.”
“Firstborn son” is a legal title given to a first-born male child in a Jewish family: in other words, it is given to a male child who is also the first child.
God specifically commanded the Israelites to sanctify (i.e., set apart) their first-born sons for a special consecration and service to God. The title “first-born son” held additional importance because it entitled that child to a double portion of the inheritance (Deut. 21:17). This title of “first-born son” was given to the child regardless of whether the woman had any other children after him. As an example: “we can see this from a Greek tomb inscription at Tel el Yaoudieh (cf.”Biblica” 11, 1930 369-90) for a mother who died in childbirth: ‘In the pain of delivering my firstborn child, destiny brought me to the end of life.’” (Quoted in “Brothers and Sisters of Jesus,” by William Most)
In Exodus 13 and 34, we read about God’s prescription that the first-born be consecrated to Him. There was a ceremony for the “sanctification of the firstborn” (Exodus 13 and 34:20). It’s not as if they postponed the ceremony for the “first-born son” until after the woman had a second child.
The Biblical Basis for Catholic teachings on Mary 23
Exodus 13:2,12- “Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine… Thou shalt set apart all that openeth the womb for the Lord, and all that is first brought forth of thy cattle: whatsoever thou shalt have of the male sex, thou shalt consecrate to the Lord.”
Thus, the statement that Jesus was the “first-born son” of Mary (Luke 2:7) does not in any way contradict Mary’s perpetual virginity. It simply means that He was her first and male child. It says nothing about whether any came later.

          • henry jose says:

Non-Catholics often bring up the passages which mention the “brothers and sisters” of Jesus. First of all, it must be mentioned that never once are these “brothers” described as the children of Mary, Jesus’ mother.
Mark 6:3- “Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.”
Matthew 13:55- “Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? And his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?”
In the original Greek the words used are adelphoi (“brethren”) and adelphe (“sisters”). The words adelphoi and adelphe can refer to actual siblings. However, the Bible also uses these words to describe people who are not brothers, but cousins or relatives or step brothers or close neighbors.
Lot was Abraham’s nephew. Abraham was his uncle (see Genesis 11:31; 14:12). Yet, the Bible twice describes Lot as Abraham’s “brother.” That’s because the word “brother” doesn’t necessarily mean a sibling. As stated above, it can mean a cousin or a relative or a step-brother or a close family friend.
Genesis 14:14- “Which when Abram had heard, to wit, that his brother Lot was taken…”
Lot was Abraham’s nephew The Bible also calls him his “brother”
Gen.11:27- “Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.”
Gen.12:5- “And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son….”
Gen.14:12- “And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.”
Gen.14:14- “And when Abram heard that his brother [Lot] was taken captive ….”
Gen.14:16- “And also brought again his brother Lot….”
Some Protestants attempt to respond to this by arguing that the Old Testament was not written in Greek, but Hebrew. Therefore, they say, the case of Lot doesn’t prove that adelphos can refer to a person who is not literally a brother. This is refuted by pointing out that while the Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew, it was famously translated
The Biblical Basis for Catholic teachings on Mary 24
into Greek by seventy scholars a few centuries before the coming of Christ. This famous translation is called the Septuagint.
This Greek translation of the Old Testament, the Septuagint, is quoted about 300 times by the inspired writers of the New Testament. That means that the New Testament writers accepted the Septuagint. In the Septuagint, the same Greek word adelphos is used to describe Lot as Abraham’s brother. Adelphos is the singular form of adelphoi, the word used in the New Testament for the “brothers” of Jesus. Therefore, the Old Testament does use adelphos to describe someone who is not literally a brother.
But the point can also be proven from the New Testament. In Acts 3:17 and Romans 9:3, we see that adelphoi (brothers) is used to describe people of the same nationality who are not siblings. Consider these verses to be the death-blow to the Protestant argument in this regard.
Moreover, in Luke 10:29, Matthew 5:22 and Matthew 7:3, we see that adelphos (“brother”) is used for neighbor, not necessarily sibling.
The Catholic Church teaches that Mary is ever-virgin and had no other children. The Catholic Church does not teach that all the “brethren” of Jesus were necessarily His cousins. They may have been extended relatives or close friends or people considered part of the family by marriage or law or homeland. For instance, in 2 Samuel 1:26, King David calls Jonathan his “brother.” Jonathan and David were not brothers or cousins. David had married Jonathan’s sister, Michal, the daughter of King Saul. So David married into the family.
The number of Jesus’ “brothers” (adelphoi) mentioned in the Bible seems to suggest that some of them were not even extended relatives, but considered part of the family in other ways. If even one or a few of them were not cousins, but more extended relatives or neighbors or close family friends, then the word adelphoi would have been used. Therefore, the fact that the word for cousin was not used does not in any way prove that Mary had other children.
Matthew 13:55- “Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? And his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?”
James and Joses are two of the names given as “brothers” of Jesus. It can be shown, by the following points, that these were children of another woman and not siblings of Jesus. Please follow this carefully.
There were three women at the foot of the Cross: 1) the Blessed Virgin Mary (the mother of Jesus); 2) Mary the wife of Cleophas (who is said to be the Blessed Virgin Mary’s sister); and 3) Mary Magdalene.
John 19:25- “Now there stood by the cross of Jesus [1] his mother, and [2] his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and [3] Mary Magdalene.”
Mary, the wife of Cleophas, is also described as “the other Mary” in Matthew 28:1. The Bible tells us that James and Joses are the children of this Mary:
The Biblical Basis for Catholic teachings on Mary 25
Matthew 27:56- “Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedees children.”
Thus, James and Joses (who are called the “brothers” of Jesus) are not His siblings, but at least His cousins. However, they are probably not even first cousins. This is because Mary of Cleophas (the mother of James and Joses), who is said to be the “sister” of Jesus’ mother (John 19:25), is also named Mary. It’s extremely unlikely that two siblings in a Hebrew family would be given the same name. Most likely they were not sisters, but members of the same clan who were called “sisters” in the same way that James, Joses, Simon and Judas were called “brothers” of Jesus. All of this shows that none of the statements in the Bible about the brothers and sisters of Jesus disproves, in any way, the perpetual virginity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Now we must look at the proof that Mary had no other children and that she was perpetually a virgin.
While dying on the Cross, Jesus entrusts His mother to the care of St. John the Apostle.
John 19:26-27- “When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son. After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple [John] took her to his own.”
Scholars point out that this was a formal act of entrustment. (Gerry Matatics, Op. cit.) Jesus entrusted His mother to St. John so that he would take care of her. If Mary had other children, as Protestants contend, Jesus would not have told St. John to take Mary for his mother. She would have been put into the care of one of his many “brothers.” The fact that Jesus entrusted Mary to St. John proves that she had no other children.
Protestants try to respond to this by arguing that Jesus’ “brothers” were not believers and that’s why Jesus entrusted her to St. John. However, that’s refuted by Acts 1:14. It indicates that Jesus’ “brothers” were believers. Jesus certainly knew that they were or would become believers and hence He would not have entrusted her to St. John if they were His siblings.
It’s also quite significant that when Jesus was found in the temple at 12 years old, there is no indication whatsoever that Mary and Joseph had other children (Luke 2:41-51). The indication is that He is an only child. He is also referred to as “the son of Mary” (Mark 6:3), not as a son of Mary. Never once is Mary said to have had other children.
Luke 1:30-34- “And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not man?”
The angel appears to Mary and tells her that she will conceive and bring forth a son. Mary responds by saying: “How shall this be, seeing I know not man?” The actual meaning is: how shall this be since I am a virgin. How shall this be? Mary understood how children were conceived. Her response only makes sense if she had taken a lifelong vow of virginity. She was asking how she could conceive while a virgin.
The Biblical Basis for Catholic teachings on Mary 26
It should also be pointed out that Mary’s engagement to Joseph doesn’t contradict the notion that she had taken such a vow. Moral behavior at the time dictated that women committed to virginity have a male protector who would guard and respect the vow. That was Joseph’s role.

          • lookinforacity says:

            Hi Henry

Maybe the point you are arguing is the moot point that shouldn’t be argued.
When it comes down to it, it does not matter one iota whether she had only Jesus, or if she had a total of 7 children.

It does not affect our Salvation, which is all that does matter.

The only thing that matters in regard to this question is, the Catholic Church has made Mary, EQUAL to Jesus, by proclaiming her to be what you call – – MARY C0-REDEMPTRIX – Coredemptrix Mediatrix Advocate or the 5th Marian Dogma.
Dogma is only another word for Assumption, such as the Assumption of Mary.

The Veneration of Mary is more Catholic Dogma

veneration, from L. venerationem (nom. veneratio) “reverence,” from venerari “to worship, revere,”

            Worship, Adoration, Devotion

Mary did not participate in the redemptive process, Mary’s Blood was not shed, she is not equal to Jesus, and therefore should not be worshiped.
            Luk 4:8
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

We worship Jesus because He Is God.

A specific tenet or doctrine authoritatively laid down, such as the dogma of the Assumption; or the dogma of papal infallibility
A prescribed doctrine proclaimed as unquestionably true the church.
The established opinion of the church, conviction, or belief held to be the truth. (Such as the veil of Veronica)

Catholic dogma does not fix a limit on the operation of reason in dealing with divine truth.” Rreligious dogma is only the culmination of rational belief. Religious dogma, being purely subjective, relies only on the authority of the church, rather than evidence. Dogma a religious opinion, doctrine or system of doctrines proclaimed by Eecclesiastical Authority as true. It should be noted, the term dogma is being applied to statements put forward by someone who thinks, inappropriately, that they should be accepted without proof. When you can come without all of the extra biblical writings of the Catholic Church, and the Dogmas found within them, then maybe. Be Blessed JIM

James{1:10} But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. {1:11} For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the
fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away
            in his ways.

  8. I have to women in mind of the catholic faith Both are special to me the one most special is a hard core devout catholic and is elderly now. I am reading your site in search of scriptures and words that will help me explain to them. One thing I am looking for is in regards to the so called ascension of Mary. One of these women has brought this matter up when asked where in the bible she didn’t know. I know Mary did not ascend into heaven as Jesus did after rising from the dead and staying on a bit.
If you have any ideas on how to share in love that Mary is not an intercessor and did not “ascend” into Heaven like Jesus did. All the honor goes to Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior! Thanks!

I am only reading this article to help teach a Catholic the truth. What you teach about baptism and salvation is wrong. Read what the bible says in: John 3:5, 1 Peter 3:21, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3-4, Mark 10: 38-39, Acts 10:48, Galations 3:27, Matthew 28:19, Colossians 2:11-12, Acts 22:16, Matthew 3:16. Its my job as Christian to teach the truth.

The only baptism that saves is being actually immersed into CHRIST HIMSELF. The water is a symbol of this, not the substance. This is the baptism referred to in 1 Peter 3:21 – NOT THE REMOVAL OF DIRT when you go into water. Read the text.

Being born of water is NOT baptism in water. The water is the Word of God (Eph. 5:26) and 1 Peter 1:23 says we are born of God’s Word. If not then all the great revivalists that were not baptists were unsaved.

Mark 16:16 says NOTHING about the person who truly believes and is NOT baptized, or about the person who believes and is not baptized – but other Scriptures DO, like John 3:16.

Baptism is required by informed believers. Refusal to do so when knowing it is the will of God is proof that a person does not savingly believe the gospel.

Sadly we have inherited a situation of much religious confusion. And today we have plenty of baptized in water people who have nothing like the practical sanctification of many of the people of the past who trusted God and did great exploits for God, and were changed in their hearts greatly by the love of God.

What counts is Christ. He who has the Son HAS life. 1 John 5:12. Being IN HIM is what counts. And we know if we are in him by the SPIRIT he has given us, not by a baptismal certificate.

Once you are in Christ, get baptized to prove yourself an obedient disciple of Christ.

But please remember who it is that saves you, and Who you must cling to if you want to be saved.

Baptism is VERY IMPORTANT to become salvation. I knew that John 3:16 only believe to be saved. My question. Are you 100% BELIEVE? I mean 100% If you are, then you MUST FOLLOW AND OBEY JESUS’S COMMAND…

        In Matthew 28:16-20
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

I can write long articles, however I provide you link in below which is pretty detail fact.

I don’t care what people’s disagree opinion, vision, but show full TRUTH from ONLY bible. Lot people will debate with different religion. That why lot church has been divide. Best way to avoid the conflict believer. You NEED saved yourself to find TRUTH from bible and become salvation. JUST FOLLOWING what bible tell you what to do. Let Holy Spirit guide your path what you will find the answer. AMEN

If your 100% immersed in Jesus walking in faith not by site then you will not even want to sin. You will be so strong in the word you not look to the right nor to the left. This take a lot of commitment to lord. Which many people can lack due to lack of time put forth within the studies of the word.

  10. Ye speak the truth.

But remember our Catholic brothers and sisters are blinded by the legalism of religion. They need our help in finding Jesus. On one of our missions through a town in California I was amazed at the many Hispanic Catholics that didn’t understand the true meaning of salvation.

My wife who is bilingual mixed evangelism with our mission of planting a new non-denominational Christian Church in Lathrop. They really need our help as do followers of the Church of Latter Day Saints and many others…
