Devotion 1 Peter 1:1 study Mark 1:1-6

1 Peter 1:1

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

My thoughts.

We are called by Christ and called to do His will, not man’s will not a pastor’s will and not even a church fellowships’ will but His will.

Mark 1:1-6

King James Version (KJV)

1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
6 And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;

These are my thoughts please share yours.

1 Jesus is God of, being brought forth from God who is the Father making Jesus the Son.

2 Scripture is taken from Mal 3:1 John the Baptist purpose was to make the people ready for Christ’s coming. Today the Spirit prepares people to recieve the Word but, at this time the Spirit was upon John the Baptist who was preaching to prepare people for Christ’s arrival.

3 The word can guide us down the right path and the word is always true. John the Baptist preached in the wildereness because that is where he lived. John was totally dependent on God by being out in the wilderness, he may have stay in a cave of the Jordan river at one point.

4 John may have started did baptism both in thsi cave an outside this cave in the Jordan river as well. Baptism shows are repentence and devotion to God. Baptism started as a ritual bathing. Baptism as John did stood for being made clean and pure before the Lord. Baptism does not give salvation because those that were baptised by John would need to accept Jesus to recieve salavtion. Baptism without making Jesus Lord is meaningless.

5 Even though John the Baptist was much like a hermitt, people wanted to hear him teach this different message. Poeple thought he was the messiah but, he wasn’t. It is important to know that they confessed their sins before they were baptised, we are not to be baptised before we confess our sins to the Lord. John was in the line of Aaron being a priest. John was like no other priest and he was the last priest God called before Christ became our High Priest. No man has the power to forgive sins, it is important to know them confessing their sins were not like “priests” today but they were confessing to God.

6 John lived off the land. Camel’s hair was forbiden because, camels were unclean animals.
