True Christians are those who love and worship Jesus Christ, and who believe in His name. The Greek word for name, onoma, also means ‘authority’ or ’cause’. So to do something in the name of Jesus is to do it in His authority, for His cause. Jesus’ cause is to liberate mankind from sin, disease, demonic affliction and eternal death. Christians are called to submit to Christ’s authority, and in the power of his authority do spiritual warfare against the forces of evil.
