God has given us "exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these [we] may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust". (2 Peter 3:14)
"For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him, Amen, to the glory of God through us." (2 Corinthians 1:20)
If you have trouble of any kind in your life, God wants you "through faith and patience" to "inherit the promises" (Hebrews 6:12). A lot of times are circumstances indicate that we have failed to receive God's promises as yet. Instead of calling God a liar, we ought to seek to humble ourselves so that God can be pleased to bless us.
"God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6). You and I don't want God to resist us, because when that is happening, things just don't go right. Sometimes we think "I deserve better than this" but its good to consider that anything outside of hell is grace - something we don't deserve! Because of God's great love for us, He has not only paid for our sins - sins we deserved to pay for - but also made available to us incredible spiritual and natural resources in order to enable us to fulfil the destiny he has planned for us. It would grieve the heart of God our Father if we were to ignore His provision and simply seek to go our own way in the power of our own resources, ignoring what He has promised.
So we have to be willing to overcome our ignorance of God's promises through study, research and meditation. When God's promises enter our hearts, and begin to come alive in us by the power of the Holy Spirit, we should make them part of our speech, by regularly speaking them out, and even muttering them to ourselves. We should do this as an act of thanksgiving. We can do this in faith, even before we have seen the manifestation or appearing of the promises in our lives. In fact, the more we say the truth, the more it enters back through our ears and into our hearts and minds, and the more we will believe it. We should keep on repeating to ourselves what God has spoken that is relevant to our situation. We need to get our mind on the end result, ignoring if need be discouraging circumstances that speak of hopelessness, and speak God's Word out with conviction. Meditation on the Word will enable us to do actions that correspond with what we are saying (see Joshua 1:8 - "meditate that you may observe"). God eventually responds to this by causing the spiritual "seeds" we so plant to grow and produce a "harvest" of blessing.
