  1. Thanks so much for the thorough explanation of being filled with the Holy Spirit! I received the gift of speaking in tongues, not right away, but after much prayer and yielding my voice to God as a little child. I was at summer camp, waiting for chapel time to start, and just began praying in tongues right then! I was so thankful and excited. I was eleven years old, if I remember correctly.
Now as I teach this to the children in our church, I can share with them about the awesome annointing God provides through the Holy Spirit. Once we understand the scriptural basis for the Holy Spirit, I think we should approach it as a little child would.
It is such as joy to see the excitement on the childrens’ faces when they receive the power of the Holy Spirit.

This is article is amazing. Our God is amazing!

I have prayed for this many times and have not received it. The second or third time I prayed for it I fasted for purity in the Lord’s eyes and then went to a Church of God that is really incredible and had the elders and pastor lay hands on me and we prayed and prayed..and nothing happened. Needless to say I left very embarrassed and after a little while I became bitter. The pastor had taken my aside after it was all said and done and told me what the Lord told Him was going on. The truth is that I was afraid and that I was holding back on the Lord. The same thing is happening here tonight. I’m scared. I’m scared of opening myself up to demonic influence, or to end up faking it with some sort of fleshly version of it. (They call it emoting or something.)

I need the baptism and I need more of God, but what is going on! Needless to say, I’m in tears and I feel embarrassed and like a failure.

    • Jessee, I know what you are saying. This is where faith comes in. I did not receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit outwardly when I first asked for it. I was pulled aside and asked if I had ever heard preaching against the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I said, “I even taught it myself.”

Repented. Read scripture and did not see the need to go back for another prayer. Why not? because I had asked God for it and then I read the Bible.

Matthew 7:8-11 “For EVERY ONE that asketh RECEIVETH; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Did I ask God for the Holy Spirit baptism? Yes. Did I receive it? No. Oh, wait a minute… by sight, “no”. By God’s Infallible Word, “YES” I asked, and so I received, even if I did not perceive. Sight said no, faith in God said yes.

So here I am in the middle ground. I asked, I received, but I did not perceive. I held onto the truth. I talked to God about life in the middle ground. I let Him know that I knew the truth, that I had asked, that He is good and faithful, and so I indeed had received. I thanked Him for it, because I KNEW He delights to give good things to His children.

Within a few days I had broken through the fear of the devil using it, and trusted God to speak through me instead. I found it easier to sing in tongues on my way to work and back. One day I sang to my wife in tongues and she told me that the Lord used it to minister to her. I now had a witness that the Lord had answered my prayer.

Jessee, You have asked God for the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Repent for fearing the devil more than trusting God. Lean into Him and trust that He will speak through you.

Side note: Fear of sinning. We should not be afraid to sin. Fear of sin will keep us from doing much good. God is not afraid of our sin, so why should we be. It is better for us to sin out in the open where we can see it for what it is and then repent, than it is for us to hold it in and never deal with it.

EXAMPLE: Peter. The Lord said “you will deny me thrice.” Peter said, “No way Jose’!” Jesus knew Peter was entering into a sin season. If Jesus was afraid of Peter sinning, He could have sent him back to Galilee to get his watch (that’s silly, Peter slept on his watch) or his money bag – anything to get him away from the area.

Jesus saw the fear in Peter’s heart. Peter, like us, saw only his faithfulness and courage. “You say you see, therefore your sin remains with you,” Jesus told the Pharisees. Peter HAD TO SEE the sin in his heart by witnessing it pouring forth in denial of Jesus Christ, before he could truly REPENT for his sin.

What was the gravity of the sin Jesus allowed Peter to sin? “If any man deny me, I will deny him to the Father.” Pretty serious sin issue. Yet, it was cleansed upon repentance.

So, do not let the fear of sinning keep you from the goodness of God. Be afraid to not sin. For it is in sinning that we can see the evil within and repent of it from the heart and be set free. If you trust God and an evil spirit speaks through you, there is repentance and forgiveness and healing. But to hold your tongue from letting the Holy Spirit minister to and through you, that is as great a loss as if Peter had never gotten over his fear of martyrdom by living in denial of it.

      Blessings and Peace,
      Timothy

I know what you mean. To make things worse, I woke up bitter this morning. I just hate this! This is how I feel:

I reach out to God, seek Him, pour everything into Him, and now I’m left feeling empty and rejected. To be honest, it hurts. It truly does. It happened the first time, and I hated God for it, I ran from Him, slowly He led me back, and now, though, I refuse to, I feel like doing it again. It just doesn’t seem there is anything good in this. I honestly feel like I have been abused.

        It doesn’t make sense.

        • warrior daughter says:

First of all God will not give to you anything to cause you distress….He will not give you a spirit of fear but He will give you power, love and a strong mind….
You are seeking the baptism of the the Holy Spirit ……You are wanting more of God and this is excelllant…

Remember Luke 11:11…If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or is he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then being evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?
When it comes to having people lay hands on you, know who it is and do not let just anyone randomly lay hands on you…

Reject those feelings and rejoice that God is able and willingly will give you your heart’s desires…….

My heart goes out to you and I know it hurts but just hold on to our Friend and Saviour for joy shall come in the morning and He will do much more than what you can ever imagine or think…….

        • I really do understand how you feel.It used to happen to me only that it was slightly different in that i would go in to seek the Lord and close the door and nothing seemed to have been happening ,i really did not feel anything and i would wonder if i wasn’t just talking to myself,so i would quickly leave the room, until one day i decided to stay a little longer “talking to myself” that i started feeling his presence!

My advise – Stay a little longer my Brother/Sister.Bless you

    • I belive that you need the holy Spirit to confess Jesus Christ!! If its speaking in tounges the problem worry not, God will hear your heart!! God Bless you

      • 1CO 12:1 Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant. 2 You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. 3 Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

1CO 12:4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.

HEB 13:15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise–the fruit of lips that confess his name.

RO 10:5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: “The man who does these things will live by them.” 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, `Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 “or `Who will descend into the deep?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile–the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Absolutely we who call Jesus “My Lord and Saviour” can only do so by the Spirit of God!

      Hi jesseedavies,
I think you should die to your flesh completely and dont care what people around you think if you want to receive this gift because the flesh and the spirit are constantly at war but the spirit should and will always win but it’s up to you. It’s a choice at free will.
I received the gift just by asking and having faith to receive and the rest is histrory in Jesus name. Practice make perfect as i now use it everyday and everytime I pray, am so excited.
Do not care after being prayed for if what you are saying makes sense or if it’s fake, just open your mouth in faith and utter anything that comes out eventhough at first the language would not make sense but continue in faith and the holy spirit would help and perfect it with time. Don’t give up, put the devil to shame because he does not want you to have it. He is to scared and a coward!
God bless and we must keep up our faith, always live in spirit and in truth……….Amen

  4. Thank you Michael, for loving God and allowing Him to use you to educate His children. I thank God for you,I knew all along that I had rceived the blessing of the Holy Spirit, but I felt Him very mild in me , and when I saw other people vibrate with the manifestation I felt I was lacking, and for years I’ve prayed and prayed for God to manifest His Holy Spirit in a more vibrant way, Thank God this year 2008 in the month of March I receive my request and each time the manifestation comes even stronger and I am really joyful in the Lord, Now I am praying for the gift of talking en tongues to praise and glorify God , to witness and prophesy for Him In the Holy Spirit.
I had lot of questions about the subject and today on your page I have received lots of answers and explication, I was born and brought up in a church that dosen’t do water baptisim but they believe in the baptizm of the Holy Spirit, when I was old enough I slipped away and was baptized in water, and went back to the church because of tradition, now I am 60 years old I have decided to give full control to the Spirit of God in me and I visits another congregation where I feel very much at home because of their sound doctrine on the Holy spirit. but I needed more information and the Lord has led me to your web side, I’ve search the web before but never found any information so satisfying. Thanks again May God continue to bless inspire and use you as you work for His kingdom.

Having read this site, i thank God for using you as an instrument to preach or to teach the Word of God.

Can I ask a question? I learned that Sabbath day falls on a Saturday, is it bad to worship on a Sunday especially with fellow Christians and with the preacher teaching the Word of God? instead of a Saturday?

    Thank you

1 Cor 14, some churches majoring in the minor thing. Not all Christians can play same musical instruments. Means we all have different gifts to cultivate and practice. Once we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior then we are renewed and saved. We all as believers should read the Bible, understand, review it always. god will reveal Himself to you. God Bless us all!

I am very worried and scared, that God must not have taken me as his child, for it has been many years since I ahvve been asking him to please baptize me, i really want to serve, love and honor him, but i am unable to do so with myown strenght, i think that if he baptized me it would help ad it would make me be assured that i am really His.

My brother was seeking for the in dwelling of the Holy Ghost for many yrs and he was never discourage but kept pressing on and seeking until the time came that God amazingly filled him. It also took me a while to be filled, I was praying and praying and nothing seems to be happening, it felt like my prayer was hitting the roof and bouncing off, I left the alter w/ tears and told God I need a break through,I was really demanding a break through from God, He began to anoint a lady who came and took ahold of my hands and lead me back to the alter, this lady did not hear my cry for a breakthrough but God did, that night I got filled with the Holy Spirit…. Keep on pressing on seeking God, lay your all at the alter, He will fill you

      God bless

It was reassuring that we alreadii have the Holy Spirit in us being born again believers. I remember asking my Uncle the exact same thing, because i did not understand the difference between the Holy Spirits empowering and whether the empowering was when he actualli came into my life meaning i wasn’t sure if i had the Holy Spirit when i was born again.

My uncle answered me just the way u have explained it this article. Its just nice to see another person with the same view. Gives me more reassurance.

LoL the most appealing thing on this page to me now is the verse from Luke 11:13, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him”.

I’m thankful to Lord God that he has given u, Michael, the job of reaching out to others through the internet and offering your dedication to this site. In my time of fasting, hehe 2 more days to go, this site has been very affirming in information and i have used most of it to strengthen my faith during this fast n draw closer to Him.

=P and thanks to you for being so obedient to the Lord God, that u have worked hard and can now bring all these awesome messages and testimonies to thounsands of people out there in search of a one true loving, merciful and healing God !

    God Bless =D !
