Did God make you and I as Sinners?

Traditional Christian theology teaches that we are born as sinners. It teaches us that Adam’s original sin of disobedience to God is IMPUTED to us – that God considers US guilty of what Adam did, even before we do anything.

Do we really KNOW and APPRECIATE WHO Jesus is?

I’ve come to see a little more why of all the things that could have been recorded in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians concerning the way Paul prayed, one thing that prominently features is as follows:

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, (Ephesians 1:17)

I’ve realised that this really is THE BIG ISSUE. Do we know who He is? I’m not talking about being able to give off a rote answer like little children in a Sunday School class. “I know, I know, Jesus is the Son of God!”. Not like that. I mean, do we appreciate even the meaning of the words we say here?

The Parable of the Lost Son

God’s Attitude towards lost people

Read the story of the lost son in Luke 15:11-32.. The context of this story is found in Luke 15:1,2. “Then all the tax
collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. And the Pharisees
and scribes complained, saying, ‘This Man receives sinners and eats
with them.
‘ ” . In response to this criticism, Jesus tells three stories
which all reveal something of God’s great love for lost people,
and His great joy when they return to Him.

Is God Really Good?

It is natural to ask, especially at times of pain or suffering in our
own lives: “If there is a good God, why does he allow so much pain and
suffering?”

Other people are more aggressive in their approach. They say that the
Bible itself proves that God is evil, according to any standard of human
decency. But see below.

A useful dialogue to read on this subject. Click here

for new believers.

The Holy Spirit

WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the triune Godhead, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, and is ever present and active in the work of convicting and regenerating the sinner, and sanctifying and guiding the believer into all truth. John 14:26; John 16:8-11; 1 Peter 1:2; Rom 8:14.

Introduction

So many people sincerely think of the Holy Spirit as a mere influence or power. They fail to see Him as a person with individual characteristics.

resurrection, glorious ascension, and abiding intercession – Isaiah. 7:14; Matt 1:23; Heb. 7:26; 1

The Nature of God

The Issue of Worship

In the previous lesson we saw that the Bible is God’s word to us and speaks with the authority of God to us regarding many things. One of the most important revelations we can receive from the Bible is the character of God. The Bible tells us what God is like – his attributes, his ways in dealing with mankind, his heart. Our traditions, preconceptions, experiences and reasonings do not always tell us the truth about God. The Bible does however.
