This is the second chapter of our eBook
on Prayer Pastoring. The first chapter dealt with step one praying
for mercy. We often have judgements against us that halt our prayers
for ourselves therefore we need God’s mercy. Without mercy our
prayers are hindered. We often mistake opposition as coming from
spiritual warfare but many times it is coming from God himself and we
are reaping what we have sown. This opposition is the judgement of
God. Chapter one explains this process.
The great movements of God have had their origin and energy in and were shaped by prayers of men.

Answered prayer is exciting
Paul Washer tells it like it is in this short clip. He is saying that there are true sheep of God in most large churches but in order to please the large unconverted crowd in the church, the pastors will not give true sheep what they need. Instead they feed the goats what pleases them.
I draw your attention to the passage in Ezekiel 34:1-6
Are you called to be a shepherd of
God’s people? (The word pastor is just another word for shepherd).
The ministry of being a shepherd to God’s people is an extremely
responsible one. It is actually a very important job and if you are
going to do it YOU JUST CAN’T TAKE IT LIGHTLY.
Something struck me as I was reading the Scriptures today. In Acts
6:2-4 it says:
Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said,
“It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and
serve tables.
Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven
men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we
may appoint over this business;
but we will give ourselves
continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
Somewhere in my fresh spiritual journey God had re-aligned my heart. Times of adversity can inadvertently cause our hearts to fall out of step with our Heavenly Fathers. Weariness causes us to become slack and inattentive to the details of our lives and sometimes the most important things lose their importance.
