Are we foolish virgins?

God has recently blessed me with understanding to the parable of 10 virgins (Matthew 25:1-12), now this had been bothering me for a while as I just felt so confused by the teachings I had received about the oil representing faith when this just isn’t true and made no sense to me as the foolish virgins choose to go and buy some oil last minute, and you can’t buy faith.

Anyway out of the blue it just came to me that this parable of end times is linked to Revelation 13:17 “And that no man might buy or sell save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name”. The foolish virgins were foolish because they weren’t prepared for such an event of not being able to buy without accepting the mark of the beast, they slumbered and slept when they should have been preparing, instead leaving it till last minute when buying some more oil would mean taking the mark of the beast. The reason why the wise didn’t share (which I used to think was really unchristian to not build other faith) was that they only had enough for themselves. This parable is not about faith, its about physical supplies.

I believe God showed me this because us Christians need to be wise, we need to start looking into self sufficancy, such as growing our own food. Because there is comming a time when we won’t have the luxury to stock up at the supermarket. This time is not for sleeping, we NEED to be preparing.

What do YOU think?

do you really want me to tell you or are you just want to try to prove me wrong, this is no game, the bible says,Be ye perfect,as your Father in heaven is perfect, does the bible lie,why would it be told by Jesus you can be perfect if you can not ? In God we can be perfect, from adam until the resurection the HolyGhost was not given, after it is our commandment. look it up

    • First of all, the Bible does not lie and Jesus does not say things, He does not mean. The Scripture you gave me came out of Matthew 5:48. It says, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” I’m glad you mentioned this verse, because I have been thinking about this very verse myself.

This statement that Jesus made was before Pentecost. The church age of grace had not been ushered in. The people He was speaking to were still under the Old Covenant and the Law of Moses.

I imagine that the people who heard Him were wondering how in the world He expected them to be perfect like God. The only way they could possibly be perfect was to keep the whole Law of Moses. The Law was so severe that it didn’t even allow for one command to be broken without it breaking them all. People did break the Law or they would not have had to offer animal sacrifices for their sins. The Law could not make them perfect nor could the animal sacrifices.

The same Jesus that said to be perfect also said the following:

And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast [it] from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not [that] thy whole body should be cast into hell.

And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast [it] from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not [that] thy whole body should be cast into hell. Matthew 5:29-30

Can you imagine how many disabled people there would have been if they followed through with what Jesus said? Who would be brave enough to poke out his or her own eye, or cut off his or her own hand? Jesus was not speaking figuratively. He meant what He said just as much as He meant this: “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”

Therefore I conclude that the only way a person can obey the command to be perfect is by having Jesus in his or her life. Perfection comes with Jesus. Below are comments by Chuck Smith from his Study Guide of Matthew, found at http://www.blueletterbible.org

“If we tried to make commandments out of these teachings we would be as guilty as the scribes and Pharisees. Jesus was explaining the spirit of the law, so we would understand God’s divine ideal for us and the impossibility of meeting His standard by our own efforts. When we believe in Jesus, His righteousness is imputed to us and we are accepted by God.”

      • Holyroller_11 says:

actually, the grace period had just begun,Jesus had not finished it yet by his death.but I will say that our perfection with Christ started with accepting him and by his grace and our commitment to be like him will keep us perfect in his eyes.I think we are finally on the same page, just in our own way.bless you

I found this parable very exciting & equally challenging!
Before teaching this parable, Jesus tells about the Signs of the End times. I would like to quote two verses which can be related to Ten Virgins parable.
    1. Matt.24:36 – Jesus says “No-one knows the day or hour not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son but only the Father”.
    2. Matt. 24:12 “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow COLD, but he who stands firm to the End will be SAVED.”
The ten virgins are given same amount of time “to prepare” themselves to meet the bridegroom. Five of them invested their time & energy to gather the ‘OIL’ to keep their lamps burning while the other five thought that the oil in their lamp will be sufficient.
Today, when we invest our time & energy in preaching, teaching & witnessing, many may think that we’re wasting our time in futility. Some may even think we’re foolish people, but these very ‘foolish people’ will be considered WISE by our Lord.
This our time of preparation. Let’s gather the “OIL” & keep our lamps burning till we meet our Saviour.

    In Christ

Mat 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Mat 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Mat 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Mat 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Mat 25:5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
Mat 25:6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
Mat 25:7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Mat 25:8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
Mat 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Mat 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
Mat 25:11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
Mat 25:12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Mat 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Mat 25:1 “At that time God’s kingdom will be like ten girls who went to wait for the bridegroom. They took their lamps with them.
Mat 25:2 Five of the girls were foolish, and five were wise.
Mat 25:3 The foolish girls took their lamps with them, but they did not take extra oil for the lamps.
Mat 25:4 The wise girls took their lamps and more oil in jars.
Mat 25:5 When the bridegroom was very late, the girls could not keep their eyes open, and they all fell asleep.
Mat 25:6 “At midnight someone announced, ‘The bridegroom is coming! Come and meet him!’
Mat 25:7 “Then all the girls woke up. They made their lamps ready.
Mat 25:8 But the foolish girls said to the wise girls, ‘Give us some of your oil. The oil in our lamps is all gone.’
Mat 25:9 “The wise girls answered, ‘No! The oil we have might not be enough for all of us. But go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’
Mat 25:10 “So the foolish girls went to buy oil. While they were gone, the bridegroom came. The girls who were ready went in with the bridegroom to the wedding feast. Then the door was closed and locked.
Mat 25:11 “Later, the other girls came. They said, ‘Sir, sir! Open the door to let us in.’
Mat 25:12 “But the bridegroom answered, ‘Certainly not! I don’t even know you.’
Mat 25:13 “So always be ready. You don’t know the day or the time when the Son of Man will come.

Mat. 25 is the parables of the wise and foolish virgins. Also, know as the testing of the servants in Jesus absence. Then the future testing of the gentiles when Jesus returns.

The facts are this Mat 25:1:-13 is what the Jewish refer to the Revelation when Jesus comes with his saints. When he comes he will be here to set up his kingdom and punish the nations. The virgins are the attendants to a bride. Bride groom is some translations and marriage or in Mat. 25:10 marriage-feast. In the mist of a midnight cry raised the virgins will be affirm faith in or allegiance to Jewish disciples (rev 14:4; Psa 45:14). When applied to christian s is a warning. The lamp is gods word and the is the holy spirit. The 2 classes here are distinguished between Possessors of Christianity and the the Professors ot it. So I would say yes we need 2 be wise. Why?
Because the hour of Jesus return is coming. It’s very uncertain when which is why we need to be wise and live not only in alertness and readiness but also in actual diligence in his service. Also we need to have works of charity towards our fellow man. We need to prepared. We need to know who Jesus and make sure he knows who we are. It’s not enough to just crack open the bible everyday quote a few scriptures. You have to listen to the voice of the Lord. You have to so when he calls you know and are ready. Don’t you want to ready when he comes? I think brothers right. It’d good to be a wise christian.
Be wise to be ready to-just saying.

Is healing for me? For about 2 months now I’ve suffered debilitating panic attacks, dizziness, faintness, sense of unreality, and more recently, recurring laboured breathing, probably linked to the hypothyroidism I was recently diagnosed with; and I’m now on medication for it. I’ve prayed incessantly for an alleviation of my symptoms and healing, but continue to suffer, and I’m pretty frightened of what the future holds for me: I am weeping for the failing health of one who has barely been ill in his entire existence. I know I shouldn’t be, but I can’t help it, because every day at some point I feel close to collapse; and am more or less housebound for the time being, so can’t attend church; or even seek work, and I have little money. I struggle to the supermarket every day, a pretty fightening experience but I have to eat. Can the miracle of healing I long for be for me? I’m so very desperate, and my future looks so bleak. Yet I believe that healing is part of the atonement: I do believe in miraculous healing. And I consider myself to have been so blessed by God since coming to faith back in January 1993.

    • Holyroller_11 says:

yes, healing is available in todays world, I have found that God wants us to tarry in prayer, when a church is not available,my way is not for everyone,so I will give you my way.If I was to claim giftsfor myself,It would be faith and miracles because I offen find myself seeking after one. but I tarry in prayer until my knees hurt and then some,I knock on the doors of heaven until I recieve an answer,Its not always the answer I want, but I press for an answer any way,I believe he waits until the last minute to deliver, but I do my best to let him know I will not give up until I hear something.but I have seen great thinhs happen because of it.

  4. Roadrunner says:

I’m not too proud to say that the meaning I thought up could be wrong, I’m still learning and there is a good chance the foolish virgins parable has a completely different meaning to the one that came to my mind, when I get the opportunity to speak to Jesus, face to face, I’ll ask him about it. 🙂

However Hollyroller_11, I really hate that false teaching of ‘tongues being evidence of the Holy Spirit’ this is by no means supported by the Bible, and before I had the initiative to investigate for myself what the Bible said one the topic, when I was in a ‘church’ that taught this, it almost cost me my faith. I thought Jesus didn’t want me and could have easily have slipped back into the occult, it’s a miracle I didn’t and the possibilities are something I don’t like to think about. It was only when I started to study God’s precious word for myself that the Holy Spirit really started working in me, my mind was transformed and I was truly born again. Now I am sure that many others find themselves in the same situation as me and maybe don’t look into Gods word to investigate for themselves, maybe they just take the false teachers word for it, think God doesn’t want them and slip into their old ways, losing faith completely. Now I was taught that the Holy Spirit gives people utterance like what happened to the believers in Acts 2 in the day of the Pentecost, all I was told by these false teachers was “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” Acts 2:4.
Now I can’t believe how long it took me to take the initiative to read the rest of this chapter, but thank God I did, now what this church did not tell me was that if you keep on reading, you will find that the believers were speaking other earthly, native languages. The miracle was that they spoke in other languages, not unknown languages. That would be just like me suddenly speaking fluent Spanish, without having previously learnt the language.

And if you read 1 Corinthians14:27-28 “If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret. But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church;”, and if your church services are anything like the ones I used to attend, you will notice the instructions the Bible gives on tongues are not being practiced, and so the whole thing becomes unbiblical. And I would also like to repeat that nowhere does the Bible say speaking in tongues is compulsory in all believers or that it is evidence of the Holy Spirit.

And as for being drunk in the Spirit, everything I have studied so far in the Bible teaches saints to be vigilant, self controlled and sober minded.

    1 Peter 5:8
“BE SOBER, be vigilant: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”
    1 Timothy 3:2
“A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, SOBER, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach”
    Galatians 5:21
“Envyings, murders, DRUNKENNESS, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God”
    Proverbs 20:1
“Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.”
    1 Peter 4:7
“But the end of all things is at hand: BE YE THEREFOR SOBER, and watch unto prayer”
    Romans 12:3
“For I say, through the grace given to me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but THINK SOBERLY, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith”
    Titus 2:2-6
“That the aged men be SOBER, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much WINE, teachers of good things.
That they teach the young women to be SOBER, to love their husbands, to love their children. To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Young men likewise exhort to be SOBER MINDED.”

    Peter 1:13
“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, BE SOBER, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ”

I know some individuals may be too deceived to listen to anything that doesn’t reinforce the false teachings they have been taught, and even as I am writing this I feel it may be in vain. I pray and hope that my effort is not in vain though, that you will all have ears to hear, and test the teachings you hear against Gods word.

    • Holyroller_11 says:

Speaking in tongues is evedence of in the infilling,(a sign only)some have stammering lips,as to being drunk in the Spirit that is also real, but not everyone exsperences it.Only until you do,then you will understand.Exsperences with the HolyGhost has been around since the upper room,I have no reason to lie,but if one is not wanting this,Christ will only take you as far as you are willing to go.I have been in very deep places with God,and know these things personally.I have raised a lady from the dead through Jesus, and have seen great things such as that. Its not all just a belief it is a reality.

      • Holyroller_11 says:

as far as church teaching, every holiness church for the last 300 years has speaking in tongues as evedence of fully baptized saints.(the real one that is)satan always has a counterfit, but as the snakes in moses and the magicians,God always is the winner.

    • lookinforacity says:

      Hi Laura

      When you say
“The miracle was that they spoke in other languages, not unknown languages.”
You are absolutely right, so much so, that the people present made comment about it saying.

      Act 2:7-12
      7) And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
*8) And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
      9) Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
      10) Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
      11) Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
      12) And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

The speaking of he Disciples on the day of Pentecost, was prompted by the Holy Ghost, as “He” gave them utterance, the purpose was to glorify God, and as a wittiness to those present (All Jews), that they were in the last days. (The world as they knew it, was now changing)

      Act 2:17
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

I will say at this point, I have been in churches all the way across the U.S.A. and back again during a two yr. period, and what I have found are two undisputable facts.

      1) All of the tongues I heard sounded the same, but regionally with very little variation, you might even call them (Dialects) of the same language. The tongues were not intelligible, they could be truly called (Un-known Tongues), because of this, I think they would then be categorized as the Heavenly language, ie (Tongues of Angels)

      1Co 13:1
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

Paul says he speaks with the tongues of men and of angels, therefore there are two distinctive types of tongues spoken. Lets not confuse them, or think they are one in the same, whenever the word (Tongues) is used.

      1Co 14:2
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for (NO MAN) understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

      2) Churches across the Country, which indorse the usage of Tongues, seem to abuse the freedom they have been given by God, through the Holy Ghost.
If any so called Pentecostal Church has a service, where the entire congregation has the practice of speaking in Unknown tongues at the same time, they are clearly (OUT OF ORDER).
This type of Church, being out of order, cannot tell you to read the remaining verses for your clarity, because they themselves do not see it, they are deceived into thinking they are doing things correct and in order.

      1Co 14:23
If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

      1Co 14:40
      40) Let all things be done decently and in order.

This type of practice by the church, does not mean the practice of speaking in Tongues is in any way Unbiblical, it only means the Church which does so is out of order.

You are right once again when you say:
“speaking in tongues is not compulsory in all believers or that it is evidence of the Holy Spirit.”

There are entire Denominations which deny the validity of speaking in tongues, and you know what, none of them speak in tongues, even though the all have the Holy Spirit.
Does this mean speaking in tongues is therefore invalid?
“NO” It only means, speaking in tongues is not compulsory for all believers, it becomes a choice to seek it.

      1Co 14:39
Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

Therefore if Christian believers have received the Holy Spirit of God, they have been given the ability to speak.
But this speaking is in unknown tongues, (the tongues of angels), for our own edification.

      Rom 8:9
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

The confusion arises when we see what are called the Gifts of the Spirit coming into play,

      1Co 12:10,11
      10) To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another (DIVERSE KINDS OF TONGUES); to another the interpretation of tongues:
      11) But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

The diverse kinds of tongues that were witnessed on the day of Pentecost, was a gift of the Spirit.
The speaking of (Unknown tongues) in private prayer unto God, is something different altogether.
      We are told by Jesus.

      Mat 6:6
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

      1Co 14:2
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for (NO MAN) understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

      1Co 14:4
He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

The “GIFT” of tongues is the ability to speak known languages of man, but unknown by those being spoken to.
That is why there is need for an Interpreter present when speaking in the Church, to the body, that the body may be edified.

      1Co 14:6
Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?

      1Co 14:27,28
      27) If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
      28) But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.

      Be Blessed
      JIM

  5. Roadrunner says:

Okay so firstly, when you say the spirit talking through people is evidence of the Holy Spirit I assume you mean speaking in tongues, now I wouldn’t go as far to say tongues doesn’t exist because the word of God won’t let me however from my personal experience the guide lines of this gift in 1 Corinthians 14 are not practiced in church resulting in confusion “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints” 1 Corinthians 14:33.
And the Bible teaches that we are saved by faith, not by signs. And Jesus actually says “An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:” Matthew 12:40

The Bible doesn’t teach anywhere that speaking in tongues is evidence of the Holy Spirit and without tongues a person does not have the Spirit. I have never spoken in tongues and always feel the presence of God with me and am continually guided into truth, the Holy Spirit lives in me, there is no way I could have got to where I am now without the Holy Spirit, so I would like to nip that false teaching in the bud, before too many people come on here and read it.

And as for the pre tribulation rapture, I would like to ask where you learnt about that, did you learn about it from the word of God or the currupt teachings of man?
All examples throughout the Bible show Gods people having faith and courage in troublesome times, because this has always been the true test of faith.
I actually am not sure about the pre tribulation rapture, I don’t know whether its true or not because I am new to learning Jesus’s truth through Gods word and would like to apologise for how harsh I came across in this comment before I edited it. I am very cautious because I know there are so many deceptions out there and so many wolves in sheeps clothing. My advise to anyone reading this is don’t take anyones word for it, check to see if its in Gods word, if it isn’t don’t believe it!
Satan is the father of lies, and I assume if this is a lie it could be to stop some people who will believe it from preparing for the times ahead.

“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” Matthew 24:13

    • Holyroller_11 says:

I speak in tongues as the Spirit gives utterence,2nd if you have not experenced the baptizism,or don’t know exactly when you were baptized then you are not.I’m not saying your not saved.but salvation and the inward experence of the HolyGhost are 2 different things.

  6. bornagainbytheblood says:

When the Bridegroom comes, that represents the rapture of the Bride. The oil in this parable is the Holy Ghost. The ten virgins are the born again children of God. 5 of them had been to the Upper Room to receive the fire of the Holy Ghost to work in their lives. The 5 foolish virgins deemed it unnecessary to go to the Upper Room and/or believed that they already had the Holy Ghost automatically, yet the Spirit had never spoken through them, which is the initial evidence of the Holy Ghost baptism; therefore, those 5 foolish virgins will be left behind and spewed in the seven-year tribulation period. They will still be saved if they endure to the end. However, since they rejected and/or neglected the fullness of God during this dispensation of grace, they are not worthy to be taken at the rapture. Many Christians will be confounded when this happens.

Note: willfully speaking in tongues is not the REAL Holy Ghost baptism. When the Spirit comes, He’ll do the speaking using your vocal cords. Many have made a disgrace of the pure things of God.

    • Holyroller_11 says:

the oil is for the lamps,to keep your light shinning, without the oil the virgin’s light wont shine.your either hot or cold, and luke warm makes God sick.this is the meaning!

      • Holyroller_11 says:

new wine is the HolyGhost not oil, when your drunk in the Spirit this is the new wine, also part of the experence of being baptized. also stammering lips,or speaking in tongues. If the vessel is not clean the HolyGhost will not enter in.

        • lookingforhope2011 says:

This may be a dumb question. But I need to know. If a believer comes to Jesus accepts salvation. Gets baptized in the Holy Spirit. And then backslides terribly. But that believer gets back up and rededicates His life to Jesus. Does that person need to get re baptized in the Holy Spirit also?.

          • healed.restored says:

No you don’t need to be re-babtised. Repent and seek forgiveness. Get your life cleaned up by getting close to God and humbly submitting to Him. He will help you to begin again to walk with Him. Do be careful as satan will try a lot to pull you back into sin. Remain faithful and seek God with all your heart and He will help you overcome all things.
            God bless you.

          • Holyroller_11 says:

The Holy Ghost is not a thing,He is God, if his temple(body) has been defiled with sin and living a backsliden life, you must be resaved, resantified by his Spirit, and then re filled ,period! anything short is only fooling yourself.you don’t just snap your fingers and think the HolyGhost comes running ,we must prove our selves worthy of the trust of such great honor.thousands of so called saints go their whole life thinking, because they ask forgiveness they are restrored to where they were, not so.many are called, few are chosen the bible says.think not that God is not able to raise up rocks to praise him.

          • I am quoting from the paragraph you wrote on November 27: “if his temple(body) has been defiled with sin and living a backsliden life, you must be resaved, resantified by his Spirit, and then re filled ,period!”

This statement, I believe, was in response to lookingforhope2011’s statements and question: “If a believer comes to Jesus accepts salvation. Gets baptized in the Holy Spirit. And then backslides terribly. But that believer gets back up and rededicates His life to Jesus. Does that person need to get re baptized in the Holy Spirit also?”

I wonder if you could give me some Scripture to back up your statement to lookingforhope2011.

I said 1st we know better than anyone else where we stand. but the Spirit of God is holy, and will not dwell in an unclean temple. The fact that the only unforgivable sin is toward the HolyGhost,is enough info to have great respect and be careful. The bible says to do our first works over again in cases of long term backslidden. those people through time the temple is defiled over and over. The HolyGhost will not dwell in an unclean temple(body) The problem with a long term backsliden soul is they think they can just pick up where they left off.and not accepting they need to re everything. Ive known of smokers who were instantly santified and even the desire burned out in 1 hour, years later backslid COMPLETELY and started smoking again and getting hooked all over.then returned to Christ and never got rid of the terrible pull of smoking again. only because they never accepted they need to be resantified to be free,A fallen saint will fall short of these deliverence thinking they already did,(pride) I guess. God doesn’t drop everything just because we take 5 minutes to say we are back.Santification(whole) purpose is to clean the temple for the indwelling.any other way only weakens the saint

If I may jump in here for a second. The reason I asked such a question is because im believing our Heavenly Father for some real tough miracles right now. And I don’t want to miss the mark because I deceived myself thinking I was doing all I could do. So as I respect the advice of a stronger Christian brother I had to ask. Right now im still chewing tobacco so I need to get that habit kicked too. The Lord instantly delivered me once but I started again. That’s small potatoes at this point compared to the things He has delivered me from. The last thing I want is for my doubt and uncertainties grieve the Holy Spirit. Hope that helps where I was coming from

I don’t remember what exactly it was that I googled when I found this site. But im here and feel at home. I can say this. At age 26 I was headed to prison before I got there Jesus made a grand appearance in my life and instantly delivered me from meth. I still ended up getting 5 years in prison but God did a mighty work on me. A year after I got out I got married. Not even 6 months into the marriage we started having problems. My wife never cut the apron strings from her mom. Nothing was ever private between us. I was very un-equiped to handle the problems that came from that. I turned to internet chat rooms, drinking, and isolation. Fell out of church then got back in church then fell out and in. Needless to say 9 years later here I am on the verge of losing it all and staring down the barrel of serious legal issues again. Through it all I’ve had to start my whole walk with the Lord over again. And this time I want to get it right. Even if she leaves me again. And I never see daylight again. I do not want to shame my Lord Jesus anymore.

          • Greg. King David was a Man after Gods own Heart. He even Missed the Mark & that’s Why we Need Jesus in the First Place. If there are those who don’t think that they haven’t fallen at some point on their walk I don’t think they are done yet. The flesh is always fighting the spirit. Look at Peter. He was chastized for several things even after he was back in the Fold. But Whom God Loves he chastizes. He doesn’t condemn, He convicts BUt he is faithful even when we are faithless. Take Heart My Brother & get back up & sin no more. Keep running your race. & help others who are still running & those who haven’t even heard that the race has begun. Love, YSICJ, Annette

Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Your heart will be hardened through the deceitfullness of sin. You need to Seek Jesus Looking For Hope. You need to ask to be given a new heart one not hardened by the decietfullness of sin.
Eze 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
Eze 36:28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

You cannot walk in the statues of the father untill your heart is made soft of flesh again. Look at what the ERV says.

Eze 36:26 I will also put a new spirit in you to change your way of thinking. I will take out the heart of stone from your body and give you a tender, human heart.
Eze 36:27 I will put my Spirit inside you and change you so that you will obey my laws. You will carefully obey my commands.
Eze 36:28 Then you will live in the land that I gave to your ancestors. You will be my people, and I will be your God.
Says he will give you a new spirit to change your way of thinking. I suggest you seek ye first the kingdom of god and the rest will be added unto you. You need to seek the things where Jesus is, you are now a branch growing off the vine Joh 15:2. Seek to bear the fruit of the spirit. Go to Galations 5

Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Gal 5:26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

            ERV
Gal 5:19 The wrong things the sinful self does are clear: committing sexual sin, being morally bad, doing all kinds of shameful things,
Gal 5:20 worshiping false gods, taking part in witchcraft, hating people, causing trouble, being jealous, angry or selfish, causing people to argue and divide into separate groups,
Gal 5:21 being filled with envy, getting drunk, having wild parties, and doing other things like this. I warn you now as I warned you before: The people who do these things will not have a part in God’s kingdom.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Gal 5:23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these kinds of things.
Gal 5:24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their sinful self. They have given up their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do.
Gal 5:25 We get our new life from the Spirit, so we should follow the Spirit.
Gal 5:26 We must not feel proud and boast about ourselves. We must not cause trouble for each other or be jealous of each other.

I can’t say much more this pretty much sums it up. Oh yeah one more thing don’t confess doubt. If you believe doubt and uncertainties you will you get what you believe. Rebuke these lies you don’t have them. I don’t agree with you I believe you have faith and are certain that Jesus is the son of God and he is your friend!!! As I have believed it is so ask Jesus.

By using the tobacco industries product, you are helping to make them rich. Do you really want to do that? Not only that, you are affecting your own health. I’m sure you know that already.

My husband smoked for years, but he finally had to quit due to health problems, mostly from smoking. I had to watch him suffer for 3 years with severe COPD. He was in and out of the hospital almost every month. He finally died last year. My dad chewed some during his lifetime. When he was in his late 70’s, he developed colon cancer. But, that was not what got him. He finally died of lung cancer at age 86. He liked smoking cigars, until he developed the colon cancer. Then, he quit. Don’t wait until it is too late to quit. You can stop. Others have done it. You can too. The Lord wants you to be free of that habit. However, it is your choice. Make a bet with yourself that you can quit for good.

            Hi Joseph

Corresponding to your Matthew 12:43,44 is Luke 11:24-26

            Luk 11:24-26
            24) When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.
            25) And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished.
            26) Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

Notice in both of these passages, the last thing they both say is, ” and the last state of that man is (WORSE THAN THE FIRST)”.

Don’t both of these passages point us towards Heb.6:4-6 rather then saying they should do there first works over again.

            Heb 6:4-6
            4) For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
            5) And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
            6) If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

          • I have read the Scriptures you gave me. I’ve been trying to see how they fit in with the statement you made to lookingforhope2011 about being “resaved, re-sanctified and refilled.” I need more convincing evidence.

In the Old Testament, every time a person sinned they had to bring a new sacrifice for each sin. That’s because the previous sacrifice died and stayed dead. Under the Old Covenant, God allowed the animal to take the punishment for a person’s sin. Parts of the sacrifice were either burned or eaten. What was done to the sacrifice could not be undone in order to be used again. This is an important element. These animals were simply a substitute, until Jesus came to give us the ultimate sacrifice, which comes under the New Covenant.

Jesus is a living, ongoing sacrifice for mankind. That’s why He only had to die one time. Whereas the animal sacrifices were temporary, Jesus sacrifice is permanent. Whereas the animal sacrifices could not be restored, Jesus could and was restored to His original state that He had previously in heaven. He is alive and will remain alive. That’s how he is able to KEEP those who come to Him for salvation. No one can benefit from His sacrifice unless he or she receives Jesus Christ into his or her life as Lord and Savior. As John 2:1 states, Jesus is there with the Father as our advocate, defending the Christian who happens to sin. It behooves the saved person to live the best that they can for Jesus, because of the wonderful thing He has done for them.

IF Jesus sacrifice isn’t good enough to keep a person saved, there is nothing else out there that can. He either keeps a person saved or He doesn’t. There is no in-between ground. The fact that you told lookingforhope2011 that he had to be resaved, re-sanctified and refilled, shows that one cannot keep his or her own salvation no more than he or she can keep the Ten Commandments. So, people are back to square one again. The New Covenant is between God and Jesus, not between God and mankind. If it was between mankind and God, mankind would break the Covenant the first time he or she sinned. There would be no more covenants out there to rescue man from hell. God gave His all with the New Covenant.

I would like to go a step further and say to all the Christians who read this: Stay away from anything that would defame your Lord and Savior. Watch how you talk. Watch what you wear. Watch where you go. Watch what you do. Watch what you see. Be careful who you hang around with. I am NOT suggesting this to you to keep your salvation. I am suggesting it, because it is the right thing to do. Remember, what you do reflects back on God and what the world thinks of God. If you are in a backslidden state, get out of it and get back on track. If you are serious about it, God will help you. Otherwise, you will suffer the consequences of your backslidden state in your body and in your daily living here on earth.

The admonitions in the Bible serve as warnings not to get involved again with the things of the world. Be imitators of God and not imitators of the world and you won’t have to worry about those admonitions.

          • Holyroller_11 says:

I am surprised this is not plain to you, so I try again, 1st to be saved, you must confess,so if tomorrow I decide to kill someone and die mimutes after,I lost my salvation. If while I was saved then santified then baptized,do you think The Spirit of the Lord stays inside me after my crime and died before I could ask forgiveness again,no yet the blood sacrifice was still available, but refused,This is not the fault of Christ.so again I say you can lose your salvation,so if you lose salvation, then you lose the Spirit that brought it to you. no man can be saved unless the Spirit draweth.

          • Holyroller_11 says:

do you think salvation can be lost if a believer decides he doesn’t want to be saved anymore? do you believe in instant healing or cleansing,by the Spirit,? to imply one saved always saved is wrong.so either you lose or you can;t lose,if you can’t lose then no one has to fear judgement,to serve God,saved santified ,baptized is a package deal ,take it or lose it.

          • So if you keep going back to god & asking for Jesus to be re sacrificed. Ans do you have your name Blotted out of the book of life, I do not claim to be perfected yet, but I believe that Christ does a Good work in me. The person who falls Down, isn’t He/she still Loved of God. And Didn’t jesus die for everyone. The big difference. Is that he has our name in his hand. Is he supposed to have been Sacrificed once & for all. Why would you place a stumbling block infront of fallen believers. The fact that we asked him to be a savior says we need him always. I do not think you can loose God when you find him but many believe they can. Excuse me again. When we are saved we can do whAt we want to do. But no one Here has concidered that we are not the same & that Jesus. Changes our Want to. Some are delivered instantly. But some have a root that needs weeded out of the Garden in our heart. We all have had failures and I don’t know about anybody else here. I still get put in the oven from time to time. But I’m not done yet until its the ent of my world and on that day he will pull me out of the fire & say. Well Done my Good & faithfull servent. Who on here has come to the end of the race yet. So how can you think that there may some place that you may stumble. I have seen jesus work in many & you would never think they would fall down. Jesus does a good work inn each of us, but he doesn’t throw us away. He does in some instances allow the devil to burn some sins out Of believers but we are not to shun them for very long. Yes he has said Go & sin No more. But if you concider whom he preAched against. It was the religious of his time. I don’t know if anyone here has this religious spirit. But just because it is taught one way does not that is the right. Way. And just because they use the Name Jesus ; doesn’t mean its the same Jesus we believe in and just because they say things in God does not mean that it is God. It may not be. in man’s eyes no one is perfect, but I am not in any way saying a child of God does not have ups and downs in Christ,or even get distant from him,I say if a person turns from God intentionally and willful want nothing to do with God for time, and latter in life returns and seeks forgiveness,( if the Spirit draws him back)he must do his first works over!!!!this has nothing to do with a saint who stumbles and falls and gets back up,but to say once saved always saved is a LIE from satan to decieve for his cause ,which is to take from God all he can! Why is this so hard to understand. If you WILLFULLY SIN against GOD and repent not, because you were serving God before in yor life, will not help you now if you refuse to REPENT today and you die tomorrow you will burn!!!the word is WILLFULL!

          • I understand what you are saying. What I am trying to comprehend is how you came to that conclusion. That is why I asked you for Scripture to back up what you have said. I’ve read and studied the Bible many times over in the 54 years I have been a Christian. I don’t recall any Scripture that says if a Christian sins, he or she has to be resaved, or re-sanctified or refilled. I thought maybe I might have missed something. The Scriptures you have given me so far have not shown me that a person has to be resaved, or re-sanctified, or refilled after sinning.

You said, “You can lose your salvation, so if you lose salvation, then you lose the Spirit that brought it to you”. The kind of salvation you are talking about is like living on the edge of a cliff. One never knows when he or she might fall off and that would be the end of him or her.

Why would a Christian want to murder someone? Murder is a terrible crime. However, didn’t Christ die for that sin on the cross? Didn’t He pay for that sin in His own body? Or did He just die for certain select sins? The Ten Commandments come in one package. If a person breaks one he or she has broken them all. God is actually the only one who can keep the Ten Commandments. Jesus proved that while He was here on earth.

Jesus didn’t just save a person from his or her past sins; He paid for all that persons sins. Why would He pay for some and not the rest? How would that benefit mankind? A person needs ALL of his or her sins forgiven to stay in right standing with God.

Earth is a reflection of what heaven is going to be like. For instance, we have trees here, so does heaven. We have water here so does heaven. The trees and the water are not the same as here on earth, but we can get the general idea of what it is like. Now take the human family. Once a person is born into that family, he or she becomes a part of that family. Nothing can undo that. I was born a Sullivan, but I married a Sumrall, does that make me not a member of the Sullivan family anymore? No. It’s the same with the family of God. Once you are born into His family you are a member of His family forever. Jesus said, “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” [John 6:37] Do you see any conditions on that?

There is only one thing that I know of that a Christian can lose, whenever he or she sins, and that is his or her joy in the Lord. A saved person can’t be happy about sinning and this affects his or her fellowship with the Lord.

          • Holyroller_11 says:

the once saved always saved is your belief, the problem is not the gift of salvation, but it is man,and man can throw it away. as long as you hold to this,no one can explain because it is oil and water,it don’t mix.just because a chance is given to escape the curse of adam’s sin,man has a will of his own to take it or leave it.with the saved always saved,it is a lie from satan to remove the conviction of sin. an escuse to sin,but no sin can enter in to heaven.you ask why would a christian murder,a real one wouldn’t,but being sorry for getting caught and sorry for sin against God isn’t the same thing.God will seperate the wheat from the tares, anyone thinking they can have salvation as a passport forever and not live holy to God is in for a terrible shock.the road to hell is paved with good intentions.many are called but few are chosen.

          • It’s sounds as if you expect perfection out of a Christian. Before any sin entered the world, Adam and Eve WERE perfect. Even though they WERE perfect, they still sinned. This shows that man cannot keep his own perfection. After they sinned, they lost that perfection. Up until the time Jesus came and provided salvation, no one could be perfect. Jesus is the only man who ever lived a perfect life.

How can a person attain perfection today? How can he or she get it back? They can get it back by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ and receiving Him as Lord and Savior. [Thank you Jesus!] How does that give us perfection? When Jesus comes into a person’s life, HIS PERFECTION COMES WITH HIM. Perfection is not something a person earns, just like you cannot earn salvation. Perfection is something Jesus gives us. The thing a person needs to remember is that Jesus is his or her substitute. Whatever He has that person inherits also. When a person is given that perfection, that person can rest and be at peace with God. That’s what Jesus came to do, to give mankind peace with God.

            I’m finished.

A foolish virgin is one who is saved, living free from sin, but lacks the flame of the Holy Ghost. A foolish believer, however, is one who thinks that he/she can get through the gates of glory with their sin. I’d like to ask such a person: If no one can live free from sin, then what kind of sins are allowed by God? How many times can one commit these sins?

          • lookinforacity says:

            Hi Stephen

            You say:
“A foolish virgin is one who is saved, living free from sin, but lacks the flame of the Holy Ghost”
“The oil in this parable is the Holy Ghost”

            Could you please explain then.

8*) the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
            9) But the wise answered, No; lest there be not enough for us and you: but ye go to them that sell, and buy for yourselves

            1) If the oil represents the flame of the Holy spirit, how would the wise virgins give of their Holy Sprit to the unwise virgins?

            2) If the wise virgins gave some of their Holy Spirit to the unwise virgins, how would they not have enough for themselves?

            3) In light of the following verses, how can the unwise virgins go and buy more of the Holy Spirit?

            Act 8:18
And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,

            Act 8:20
But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

Your interpretation, the oil in the lamps is the Holy Spirit, is a wrong interpretation.

A Parable is a story told to convey a message.
There isn’t any significance in the Oil, just as there isn’t any significance in the lamp, or the wick.
The message being conveyed by the story of the 10 virgins is “ALWAYS BE READY” period.
When you get to spiritual in a matter, you lose understanding.

          • Chris Petersen says:

            Hi Jim,
Your closing statement is absolutely correct about the parable of the ten virgins.

The proposition”A foolish virgin is one who is saved, living free from sin, but lacks the flame of the Holy Ghost.” is an oxymoronic statement. The two prerequisites to enter the Kingdom of God are to be “Born of Water” and “Born of the Spirit”, so how can the foolish virgin be one who “is Saved” and not have the flame of Holy Ghost.

And in response to this ”I’d like to ask such a person: If no one can live free from sin, then what kind of sins are allowed by God? I would say this. If a foolish virgin can live free from sin, then why can’t a Wise Abiding Christian? In answering the question of what kind of sins are allowed by God, the answer is NONE! However, all sins are forgiven through Jesus Christ except one, that being “speaking out against the Holy Ghost” shall not be forgiven. “Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.” Matthew 12:31-32

            God Bless you all,
            Christopher John Petersen.

Secondly, Jesus would not refer to a sinner as a virgin; a virgin represents someone who is pure and clean; therefore, the five foolish virgins are saved, living free from sin, but are foolish because they don’t have the flame of the Holy Ghost. The baptism of the Holy Ghost is not an automatic blessing when entering into the family of God. Oftentimes, it takes much time on our knees seeking the face of God for the fire of God to fill a holy vessel. Foolish virgins, however, find this unnecessary, or they simply won’t contend for the faith once delivered to the Saints. In either case, into the tribulation period they will go. They think they are ready for Jesus’ second coming, but He’ll declare that He does not know them as His Bride.

Matthew 25:11-12 – Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

There isn't any special significance placed on the Oil, just as there shouldn't be any significance placed upon any other of the inanimate objects found within the parable. The message of the 10 virgins is "ALWAYS BE READY," nothing more nothing less For you know not, at what hour your Lord doth come. "THE JEWISH NATION WAS NOT READY FOR THEIR MESSIAH'S COMMING" There is also the parable about "two grinding at the mill" There is also the parable about "the thief in the night" All three of these parables tell the same story, so where is the Holy Spirit represented in the other two? Oh, in case you didn't know, Jesus did not speak any of His parables to Christians, they didn't exist yet, He only spoke parables to the Jews. The parables were in relation to the Jewish Nation missing the kingdom, and not Christians missing the rapture.

These sinning believers of today are not even of the fold of the foolish virgins, for they are still lost and undone; they’re simply in need of a real born again experience, not just turning over a new leaf nor making a new year’s resolution to try to do better. Shame on these dead preachers who don’t come against sin, for the flock remains bound by the powers of the devil through their ear-tickling sermons. I’m sure, however, if these preachers really preached and lived the pure Word of God, then the pews would empty out and the money would dry up. So be it; if it’s of God, then God is able to bring in new members who hunger for righteousness and thirst for holiness.

          • Your question: Why would Jesus set someone free from sin for them only to continue to sin?
My answer: He wouldn’t. That kind of commitment is not legitimate. If a person feigns to accept Christ on the pretense that they can continue in sin, they have not made a genuine commitment. He or she is just fooling his or her self. That is a dangerous thing to do. “They are still lost and undone” just as you said.

You mentioned preachers who don’t preach against sin. There may be some out there, but thank the Lord, I have never sat under any like that. When my husband was in the military, we lived in different places. We were very fortunate to find some good churches with pastors who didn’t mind telling the truth. I feel as if the Lord led us to those churches.

If a true Christian sins, not habitually, the only thing stopping God‘s wrath from following on that person is the blood of Jesus Christ. His blood is between the Christian and God’s judgment. However, I will mention this. A Christian can suffer consequences here on earth for any sins he or she commits. It’s like this: Sin has side effects. But as far as eternal consequences, that’s been taken care of by the blood of Jesus Christ.

As a matter of fact, every letter to the 7 churches, were all written to the angel of each church.

I agree that you should definitely seek Jesus if you have sinned. Which this is something were all guilty of. In my experience we should see what the bible tells us all about sin. Also, we should know what it says about forgiveness. I can tell you Holyroller and Healed restored guys can both tell you what they think. However, it’s still what man thinks. We need to know what Jesus thinks. Jesus is our light to the truth of God. So let’s see. What does the bible say? The word sin is mentioned 448 times within the KJV. Here’s just the one from the new testement.
            KJV
Mat_12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
Mat_18:21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Joh_1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Joh_5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
Joh_8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
Joh_8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Joh_8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
Joh_8:46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
Joh_9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Joh_9:41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
Joh_15:22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
Joh_15:24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
Joh_16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
            Joh_16:9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;
Joh_19:11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
Act_7:60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
            Rom_3:9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
Rom_3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Rom_4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Rom_5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Rom_5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Rom_5:20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Rom_5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom_6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom_6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Rom_6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom_6:7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Rom_6:10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
Rom_6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom_6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Rom_6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Rom_6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Rom_6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Rom_6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Rom_6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Rom_6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Rom_6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
Rom_6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Rom_6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom_7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Rom_7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Rom_7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Rom_7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
Rom_7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
Rom_7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Rom_7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom_7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom_7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom_7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Rom_8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom_8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Heb_9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Heb_10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
            Heb_10:8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
Heb_10:18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Heb_10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
            Heb_11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
Heb_12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Heb_12:4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
Heb_13:11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
Jas_1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Jas_2:9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
Jas_4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
1Pe_2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
            1Pe_4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2Pe_2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
1Jn_1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1Jn_1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn_2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1Jn_3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1Jn_3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1Jn_3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jn_3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1Jn_5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
1Jn_5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

Mat_5:28 But I tell you that if a man looks at a woman and wants to sin sexually with her, he has already committed that sin with her in his mind.
Mat_5:29 If your right eye makes you sin, take it out and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body than to have your whole body thrown into hell.
Mat_5:30 If your right hand makes you sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
Mat_5:32 But I tell you that any man who divorces his wife, except for the problem of sexual sin, is causing his wife to be guilty of adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman is guilty of adultery.
Mat_13:41 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will find the people who cause sin and all those who do evil. The angels will take those people out of his kingdom.
Mat_18:6 “If one of these little children believes in me, and someone causes that child to sin, it will be very bad for that person. It would be better for them to have a millstone tied around their neck and be drowned in the deep sea.
Mat_18:7 I feel sorry for the people in the world because of the things that make people sin. These things must happen, but it will be very bad for anyone who causes them to happen.
Mat_18:8 “If your hand or your foot makes you sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose part of your body and have eternal life than to have two hands and two feet and be thrown into the fire that burns forever.
Mat_18:9 If your eye makes you sin, take it out and throw it away. It is better for you to have only one eye and have eternal life than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
Mat_19:9 I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for the problem of sexual sin, and marries another woman is guilty of adultery.”
Mat_23:32 And you will finish the sin that your ancestors started!
Mar_3:29 But anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. They will always be guilty of that sin.”
Mar_9:42 “If one of these little children believes in me, and someone causes that child to sin, it will be very bad for that person. It would be better for them to have a millstone tied around their neck and be drowned in the sea.
Mar_9:43 If your hand makes you sin, cut it off. It is better for you to lose part of your body and have eternal life than to have two hands and go to hell. There the fire never stops.
Mar_9:45 If your foot makes you sin, cut it off. It is better for you to lose part of your body and have eternal life than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.
Mar_9:47 If your eye makes you sin, take it out. It is better for you to have only one eye and enter God’s kingdom than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell.
Luk_6:35 “I’m telling you to love your enemies and do good to them. Lend to people without expecting to get anything back. If you do this, you will have a great reward. You will be children of the Most High God. Yes, because God is good even to the people who are full of sin and not thankful.
Luk_17:1 Jesus said to his followers, “Things will surely happen that will make people sin. But it will be very bad for anyone who makes this happen.
Luk_17:2 It will be very bad for anyone who makes one of these little children sin. It would be better for them to have a millstone tied around their neck and be drowned in the sea.
Luk_19:9 Jesus said, “Today is the day for this family to be saved from sin. Yes, even this tax collector is one of God’s chosen people.
Joh_8:11 She answered, “No one, sir.” Then Jesus said, “I don’t judge you either. You can go now, but don’t sin again.”
Joh_8:21 Again, Jesus said to the people, “I will leave you. You will look for me, but you will die in your sin. You cannot come where I am going.”
Joh_8:34 Jesus said, “The truth is, everyone who sins is a slave–a slave to sin.
Joh_8:46 Can any of you prove that I am guilty of sin? If I tell the truth, why don’t you believe me?
Joh_9:2 Jesus’ followers asked him, “Teacher, why was this man born blind? Whose sin made it happen? Was it his own sin or that of his parents?”
Joh_9:3 Jesus answered, “It was not any sin of this man or his parents that caused him to be blind. He was born blind so that he could be used to show what great things God can do.
Joh_9:34 The Jewish leaders answered, “You were born full of sin! Are you trying to teach us?” And they told the man to get out of the synagogue and to stay out.
Joh_9:41 Jesus said, “If you were really blind, you would not be guilty of sin. But you say that you see, so you are still guilty.”
Joh_15:22 If I had not come and spoken to the people of the world, they would not be guilty of sin. But now I have spoken to them. So they have no excuse for their sin.
Joh_15:24 I did things among the people of the world that no one else has ever done. If I had not done those things, they would not be guilty of sin. But they have seen what I did, and still they hate me and my Father.
Joh_16:8 “When the Helper comes, he will show the people of the world how wrong they are about sin, about being right with God, and about judgment.
Joh_16:9 He will prove that they are guilty of sin, because they don’t believe in me.
Joh_19:11 Jesus answered, “The only power you have over me is the power given to you by God. So the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”
Act_7:60 He fell on his knees and shouted, “Lord, don’t blame them for this sin!” These were his last words before he died.
Act_15:20 Instead, we should send a letter telling them only the things they should not do: Don’t eat food that has been given to idols. This makes the food unclean. Don’t be involved in sexual sin. Don’t eat meat from animals that have been strangled or any meat that still has the blood in it.
Act_15:29 Don’t eat food that has been given to idols. Don’t eat meat from animals that have been strangled or any meat that still has the blood in it. Don’t be involved in sexual sin. If you stay away from these, you will do well. We say goodbye now.
Act_21:25 “In regard to the non-Jewish believers, we have already sent a letter to them saying what we think they should do: ‘Don’t eat food that has been given to idols. Don’t eat meat from animals that have been strangled or any meat that still has the blood in it. Don’t be involved in sexual sin.'”
Rom_1:29 They are filled with every kind of sin, evil, greed, and hatred. They are full of jealousy, murder, fighting, lying, and thinking the worst things about each other. They gossip
Rom_2:1 So do you think that you can judge those other people? You are wrong. You too are guilty of sin. You judge them, but you do the same things they do. So when you judge them, you are really condemning yourself.
Rom_2:12 People who have the law and those who have never heard of the law are all the same when they sin. People who don’t have the law and are sinners will be lost. And, in the same way, those who have the law and are sinners will be judged by the law.
Rom_2:22 You say they must not commit adultery, but you yourself are guilty of that sin. You hate idols, but you steal them from their temples.
Rom_3:9 So are we Jews better than other people? No, we have already said that those who are Jews, as well as those who are not Jews, are the same. They are all guilty of sin.
Rom_3:20 because no one can be made right with God by following the law. The law only shows us our sin.
Rom_3:24 They are made right with God by his grace. This is a free gift. They are made right with God by being made free from sin through Jesus Christ.
Rom_4:8 It is a great blessing when the Lord accepts people as if they are without sin!”
Rom_5:12 Sin came into the world because of what one man did. And with sin came death. So this is why all people must die–because all people have sinned.
Rom_5:13 Sin was in the world before the Law of Moses. But God does not consider people guilty of sin if there is no law.
Rom_5:14 But from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, everyone had to die. Adam died because he sinned by not obeying God’s command. But even those who did not sin that same way had to die. That one man, Adam, can be compared to Christ, the one who was coming in the future.
Rom_5:15 But God’s free gift is not like Adam’s sin. Many people died because of the sin of that one man. But the grace that people received from God was much greater. Many received God’s gift of life by the grace of this other man, Jesus Christ.
Rom_5:18 So that one sin of Adam brought the punishment of death to all people. But in the same way, Christ did something so good that it makes all people right with God. And that brings them true life.
Rom_5:20 The law was brought in so that more people would sin the way Adam did. But where sin increased, there was even more of God’s grace.
Rom_5:21 Sin once used death to rule us. But God gave us more of his grace so that grace could rule by making us right with him. And this brings us eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom_6:2 Of course not! Our old sinful life ended. It’s dead. So how can we continue living in sin?
Rom_6:6 We know that our old life was put to death on the cross with Christ. This happened so that our sinful selves would have no power over us. Then we would not be slaves to sin.
Rom_6:7 Anyone who has died is made free from sin’s control.
Rom_6:10 Yes, when Christ died, he died to defeat the power of sin one time–enough for all time. He now has a new life, and his new life is with God.
Rom_6:11 In the same way, you should see yourselves as being dead to the power of sin and alive for God through Christ Jesus.
Rom_6:12 But don’t let sin control your life here on earth. You must not be ruled by the things your sinful self makes you want to do.
Rom_6:13 Don’t offer the parts of your body to serve sin. Don’t use your bodies to do evil, but offer yourselves to God, as people who have died and now live. Offer the parts of your body to God to be used for doing good.
Rom_6:14 Sin will not be your master, because you are not under law. You now live under God’s grace.
Rom_6:15 So what should we do? Should we sin because we are under grace and not under law? Certainly not!
Rom_6:16 Surely you know that you become the slaves of whatever you give yourselves to. Anything or anyone you follow will be your master. You can follow sin, or you can obey God. Following sin brings spiritual death, but obeying God makes you right with him.
Rom_6:17 In the past you were slaves to sin–sin controlled you. But thank God, you fully obeyed what you were taught.
Rom_6:18 You were made free from sin, and now you are slaves to what is right.
Rom_6:19 I use this example from everyday life because you need help in understanding spiritual truths. In the past you offered the parts of your body to be slaves to your immoral and sinful thoughts. The result was that you lived only for sin. In the same way, you must now offer yourselves to be slaves to what is right. Then you will live only for God.
Rom_6:20 In the past you were slaves to sin, and you did not even think about doing right.
Rom_6:22 But now you are free from sin. You have become slaves of God, and the result is that you live only for God. This will bring you eternal life.
Rom_6:23 When people sin, they earn what sin pays–death. But God gives his people a free gift–eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Rom_7:7 You might think I am saying that sin and the law are the same. That is not true. But the law was the only way I could learn what sin means. I would never have known it is wrong to want something that is not mine. But the law said, “You must not want what belongs to someone else.”
Rom_7:8 And sin found a way to use that command and make me want all kinds of things that weren’t mine. So sin came to me because of the command. But without the law, sin has no power.
Rom_7:9 Before I knew the law, I was alive. But when I heard the law’s command, sin began to live,
Rom_7:11 Sin found a way to fool me by using the command to make me die.
Rom_7:13 Does this mean that something that is good brought death to me? No, it was sin that used the good command to bring me death. This shows how terrible sin really is. It can use a good command to produce a result that shows sin at its very worst.
Rom_7:14 We know that the law is spiritual, but I am not. I am so human. Sin rules me as if I were its slave.
Rom_7:17 But I am not really the one doing the evil. It is sin living in me that does it.
Rom_7:20 So if I do what I don’t want to do, then I am not really the one doing it. It is the sin living in me that does it.
Rom_7:23 But I see another law working in my body. That law makes war against the law that my mind accepts. That other law working in my body is the law of sin, and that law makes me its prisoner.
Rom_7:25 I thank God for his salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord! So in my mind I am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful self I am a slave to the law of sin.
Rom_8:2 That is because in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit that brings life made you free. It made you free from the law that brings sin and death.
Rom_8:3 The law was without power because it was made weak by our sinful selves. But God did what the law could not do: He sent his own Son to earth with the same human life that everyone else uses for sin. God sent him to be an offering to pay for sin. So God used a human life to destroy sin.
Rom_8:10 Your body will always be dead because of sin. But if Christ is in you, then the Spirit gives you life, because Christ made you right with God.
Rom_13:13 We should live in a right way, like people who belong to the day. We should not have wild parties or be drunk. We should not be involved in sexual sin or any kind of immoral behavior. We should not cause arguments and trouble or be jealous.
Rom_14:23 But anyone who eats something without being sure it is right is doing wrong. That is because they did not believe it was right. And if you do anything that you believe is not right, it is sin.
1Co_1:30 It is God who has made you part of Christ Jesus. And Christ has become for us wisdom from God. He is the reason we are right with God and pure enough to be in his presence. Christ is the one who set us free from sin.
1Co_5:1 I don’t want to believe what I am hearing–that there is sexual sin among you. And it is such a bad kind of sexual sin that even those who have never known God don’t allow it. People say that a man there has his father’s wife.
1Co_5:2 And still you are proud of yourselves! You should have been filled with sadness. And the man who committed that sin should be put out of your group.
1Co_5:8 So let us eat our Passover meal, but not with the bread that has the old yeast, the yeast of sin and wrongdoing. But let us eat the bread that has no yeast. This is the bread of goodness and truth.
1Co_5:9 I wrote to you in my letter that you should not associate with people who sin sexually.
1Co_5:10 But I did not mean the people of this world. You would have to leave the world to get away from all the people who sin sexually, or who are greedy and cheat each other, or who worship idols.
1Co_5:11 I meant you must not associate with people who claim to be believers but continue to live in sin. Don’t even eat with a brother or sister who sins sexually, is greedy, worships idols, abuses others with insults, gets drunk, or cheats people.
1Co_6:9 Surely you know that people who do wrong will not get to enjoy God’s kingdom. Don’t be fooled. These are the people who will not get to enjoy his kingdom: those who sin sexually, those who worship idols, those who commit adultery, men who let other men use them for sex or who have sex with other men, those who steal, those who are greedy, those who drink too much, those who abuse others with insults, and those who cheat.
1Co_6:13 Someone else says, “Food is for the stomach, and the stomach for food.” Yes, and God will destroy them both. But the body is not for sexual sin. The body is for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.
1Co_6:18 So run away from sexual sin. It involves the body in a way that no other sin does. So if you commit sexual sin, you are sinning against your own body.
1Co_7:2 But sexual sin is a danger, so each man should enjoy his own wife, and each woman should enjoy her own husband.
1Co_7:28 But if you decide to marry, that is not a sin. And it is not a sin for a girl who has never married to get married. But those who marry will have trouble in this life, and I want you to be free from this trouble.
1Co_7:36 A man might think that he is not doing the right thing with his fiancée. She might be almost past the best age to marry. So he might feel that he should marry her. He should do what he wants. It is no sin for them to get married.
1Co_8:9 But be careful with your freedom. Your freedom to eat anything may make those who have doubts about what they can eat fall into sin.
1Co_8:12 When you sin against your brothers and sisters in Christ in this way and you hurt them by causing them to do things they feel are wrong, you are also sinning against Christ.
1Co_8:13 So if the food I eat makes another believer fall into sin, I will never eat meat again. I will stop eating meat, so that I will not make my brother or sister sin.
1Co_10:8 We should not commit sexual sins as some of them did. In one day 23,000 of them died because of their sin.
1Co_14:24 But suppose you are all prophesying and someone comes in who does not believe or who is without understanding. Their sin will be shown to them, and they will be judged by everything you say.
1Co_15:56 Death’s power to hurt is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
2Co_3:9 This is what I mean: That old agreement judged people guilty of sin, but it had glory. So surely the new agreement that makes people right with God has much greater glory.
2Co_5:21 Christ had no sin, but God made him become sin so that in Christ we could be right with God.
2Co_11:29 I feel weak every time another person is weak. I feel deeply upset every time another person is led into sin.
Gal_3:22 But this is not possible. The Scriptures put the whole world in prison under the control of sin, so that the only way for people to get what God promised would be through faith in Jesus Christ. It is given to those who believe in him.
Gal_5:19 The wrong things the sinful self does are clear: committing sexual sin, being morally bad, doing all kinds of shameful things,
Gal_6:1 Brothers and sisters, someone in your group might do something wrong. You who are following the Spirit should go to the one who is sinning. Help make that person right again, and do it in a gentle way. But be careful, because you might be tempted to sin too.
Eph_4:26 “When you are angry, don’t let that anger make you sin,” and don’t stay angry all day.
Eph_5:3 But there must be no sexual sin among you. There must not be any kind of evil or selfishly wanting more and more, because such things are not right for God’s holy people.
Eph_5:27 Christ died so that he could give the church to himself like a bride in all her beauty. He died so that the church could be holy and without fault, with no evil or sin or any other thing wrong in it.
Col_3:5 So put everything evil out of your life: sexual sin, doing anything immoral, letting sinful thoughts control you, and wanting things that are wrong. And don’t keep wanting more and more for yourself, which is the same as worshiping a false god.
1Th_4:7 God chose us to be holy. He does not want us to live in sin.
1Ti_5:20 Tell those who sin that they are wrong. Do this in front of the whole church so that the others will have a warning.
2Ti_3:6 Some of them go into homes and get control over weak women, whose lives are full of sin–women who are led into sin by all the things they want.
Tit_1:15 To people who are pure, everything is pure. But to those who are full of sin and don’t believe, nothing is pure. Really, their thinking has become evil and their consciences have been ruined.
Heb_3:13 But encourage each other every day, while you still have something called “today.” Help each other so that none of you will be fooled by sin and become too hard to change.
Heb_7:26 So Jesus is the kind of high priest we need. He is holy. He has no sin in him. He is pure and not influenced by sinners. And he is raised above the heavens.
Heb_9:12 Christ entered the Most Holy Place only one time–enough for all time. He entered the Most Holy Place by using his own blood, not the blood of goats or young bulls. He entered there and made us free from sin forever.
Heb_9:26 If Christ had offered himself many times, he would have needed to suffer many times since the time the world was made. But he came to offer himself only once. And that once is enough for all time. He came at a time when the world is nearing an end. He came to take away all sin by offering himself as a sacrifice.
Heb_9:28 So Christ was offered as a sacrifice one time to take away the sins of many people. And he will come a second time, but not to offer himself for sin. He will come the second time to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Heb_10:8 Christ first said, “You don’t want sacrifices and offerings. You are not pleased with animals killed and burned or with sacrifices to take away sin.” (These are all sacrifices that the law commands.)
Heb_11:24 Moses grew up and became a man. He refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose not to enjoy the pleasures of sin that last such a short time. Instead, he chose to suffer with God’s people. He did this because he had faith.
Heb_12:1 We have all these great people around us as examples. Their lives tell us what faith means. So we, too, should run the race that is before us and never quit. We should remove from our lives anything that would slow us down and the sin that so often makes us fall.
Heb_12:4 You are struggling against sin, but you have not had to give up your life for the cause.
Heb_12:14 Try to live in peace with everyone. And try to keep your lives free from sin. Anyone whose life is not holy will never see the Lord.
Heb_12:16 Be careful that no one commits sexual sin. And be careful that no one is like Esau and never thinks about God. As the oldest son, Esau would have inherited everything from his father. But he sold all that for a single meal.
Jas_1:15 Your desire grows inside you until it results in sin. Then the sin grows bigger and bigger and finally ends in death.
Jas_4:8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. You are sinners, so clean sin out of your lives. You are trying to follow God and the world at the same time. Make your thinking pure.
1Pe_2:9 But you are his chosen people, the King’s priests. You are a holy nation, people who belong to God. He chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He brought you out of the darkness of sin into his wonderful light.
1Pe_2:24 Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross. He did this so that we would stop living for sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you were healed.
1Pe_4:18 “If it is hard for even a good person to be saved, what will happen to the one who is against God and full of sin?”
2Pe_2:14 Every time they look at a woman, they want her. They are always sinning this way. And they lead weaker people into the trap of sin. They have taught themselves well to be greedy. They are under a curse.
2Pe_2:18 They boast with words that mean nothing. They lead people into the trap of sin. They find people who have just escaped from a wrong way of life and lead them back into sin. They do this by using the evil things people want to do in their human weakness.
2Pe_2:19 These false teachers promise those people freedom, but they themselves are not free. They are slaves to a mind that has been ruined by sin. Yes, people are slaves to anything that controls them.
2Pe_3:14 Dear friends, we are waiting for this to happen. So try as hard as you can to be without sin and without fault. Try to be at peace with God.
1Jn_1:7 We should live in the light, where God is. If we live in the light, we have fellowship with each other, and the blood sacrifice of Jesus, God’s Son, washes away every sin and makes us clean.
1Jn_1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we are fooling ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn_2:1 My dear children, I write this letter to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone sins, we have Jesus Christ to help us. He always did what was right, so he is able to defend us before God the Father.
1Jn_3:5 You know that Christ came to take away people’s sins. There is no sin in Christ.
1Jn_3:6 So whoever lives in Christ does not continue to sin. If they continue to sin, they have never really understood Christ and have never known him.
1Jn_3:8 The devil has been sinning since the beginning. Anyone who continues to sin belongs to the devil. The Son of God came for this: to destroy the devil’s work.
1Jn_3:9 Those who are God’s children do not continue to sin, because the new life God gave them stays in them. They cannot keep sinning, because they have become children of God.
1Jn_5:16 Suppose you see your fellow believer sinning (sin that does not lead to eternal death). You should pray for them. Then God will give them life. I am talking about people whose sin does not lead to eternal death. There is sin that leads to death. I don’t mean that you should pray about that kind of sin.
1Jn_5:17 Doing wrong is always sin. But there is sin that does not lead to eternal death.
1Jn_5:18 We know that those who have been made God’s children do not continue to sin. The Son of God keeps them safe. The Evil One cannot hurt them.
Jud_1:7 Also, remember the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and the other towns around them. Like those angels they were full of sexual sin and involved themselves in sexual relations that are wrong. And they suffer the punishment of eternal fire, an example for us to see.
Jud_1:8 It is the same way with these people who have entered your group. They are guided by dreams. They make themselves dirty with sin. They reject God’s authority and say bad things against the glorious ones.
Rev_2:14 “But I have a few things against you. You have people there who follow the teaching of Balaam. Balaam taught Balak how to make the people of Israel sin. They sinned by eating food offered to idols and by committing sexual sins.
Rev_2:21 I have given her time to change her heart and turn away from her sin, but she does not want to change.
Rev_14:8 Then the second angel followed the first angel and said, “She is destroyed! The great city of Babylon is destroyed! She made all the nations drink the wine of her sexual sin and of God’s anger.”
Rev_17:2 The rulers of the earth sinned sexually with her. The people of the earth became drunk from the wine of her sexual sin.”
Rev_17:4 The woman was dressed in purple and red. She was shining with the gold, jewels, and pearls that she was wearing. She had a golden cup in her hand. This cup was filled with terribly evil things and the filth of her sexual sin.
Rev_18:3 All the peoples of the earth have drunk the wine of her sexual sin and of God’s anger. The rulers of the earth sinned sexually with her, and the merchants of the world grew rich from the great wealth of her luxury.”
Rev_19:2 His judgments are true and right. Our God has punished the prostitute. She is the one who ruined the earth with her sexual sin. God has punished the prostitute to pay her back for the death of his servants.”
Rev_21:8 But those who are cowards, those who refuse to believe, those who do terrible things, those who kill, those who sin sexually, those who do evil magic, those who worship idols, and those who tell lies–they will all have a place in the lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
Rev_22:15 Outside the city are all those who live like dogs–those who do evil magic, those who sin sexually, those who murder, those who worship idols, and those who love to lie and pretend to be good.

I choose Mt 5:29 to talk about. Have you ever wondered why this refers to sin? Or even what the heck it’s talking about? Well here goes people.

Well it’s like this. The Hebrews like many others of the human race would represent their affections of their mind by using body parts (Rom:7:23 Rom6:13). For example the bowels meant compassion. Which is like the heart, affection and feeling. The evil eye means sometimes envy Mat. 20:15. Then sometimes it means an evil passion or sin Mar 7:21-22. In 2Pet 2:14 the expression of the evil eye expresses strong adulterous passion or some unlawful desire. They use the right eye and the hand because we use them a lot. Meaning even though we use them a lot we still need to cast them out. So even though we use our hand for everything. If it causes you to sin get rid of it. Meaning sometimes we sin because we think we need it to live our daily lives. Well I tell ya what we need Jesus to live our daily lives. Jesus is the light the way and the truth. He is the vine and we are branches growing off him. It also says there in John 15:1-2 that Jesus said his father is also the vine dresser. So if were growing off of Jesus his father is the gardener trimming the branches on the vine. Why so they stay healthy and can grow stronger. So they can produce fruit in their season. Well, wouldn’t one be able to say by this that we need to repent of our sin. Then cast them out. Ask our Father in heaven in Jesus name to trim the dead leaves and dead stuff off of us. He will ya know. Then once that stuff is cut off and cast away it makes the way to grow stronger as a branch. It also opens space for healthy fruit to grow. Look in Gal for the fruit of the spirit. I always say seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and the rest will be added to you. Which isn’t me at all. But the holy spirit guiding threw the grace of Jesus who was sent by his father in the kingdom of heaven. Without Jesus it’s not possible to bear fruit. So ask him Whatz up. Then I am sure you will find the lighted path of truth. And be pruned by the gardener and the dead stuff cut off. And bear new fruit.
Have ya ever noticed to in a garden. You cut back one bunch of dead stuff come back the next day theirs again new dead stuff growing on the branches of your plants. Same concept. Keep repenting of your sins. We all should repent. If were not sure ask to be shown if there be any sin within us we are not aware of then ask it to be cut off of you in Jesus name, so new fruit can grow in it’s place. Be Blessed You Guys!!!

As the subject line states, I am in a similar condition. Please pray for me as the enemy is trying his best to keep me from a full commitment to God. I need lots of prayer, counseling, and most of all protection. Thank you Barbie for the word of God you shared. In some ways it is almost TOO MUCH to take in right now. I wish I had someone close to me to help me through this! Richard in Michigan

          • Dear Richard, What is keeping you from having a full commitment to God? Is it your fleshly Desires, or Some sort of evil influence? I have had similar experiences. & usually it is my laziness. I am not saying that you are Lazy. You Are just Not sure why you aren’t jumping into God with both feet. It could be any number of things. But Most of the time it is just not realizing that we need to Die to ourselves each day. And let Jesus live Big in us. MAybe it is a little bit of Fear of what others may say or think of you. But what others mAy say isn’t what matters. Sometimes we. Allow their words to hurt us for no reason. But if they are trying to harm with words than we have an opporttunity to empower ourselves & others with Gods Words. For the power of Life & death is in the tongue. Our God is a Big Big God. & no matter what others say or do. We are Loved by him. I don’t know about you, but My dad could give me a look of dissappointment that could just break me in Two when I messed up. I see God in a Different Light than this. I see that the Devil goes around saying look at what he did, he messed up here & he did this & thAt. I believe he sees us and once you askto be forgiven It is not remembered & is cast into the sea of forgetfullness. What I want you to concider is not what others think or say about you, but consider and meditate on what god thinks of you & what he wants you to do. & where he wants you to be. Because when it comes down to the End. I believe you want to be Counted as one of his rather than being counted as one of the enemies. Your Sister in Christ Jesus, Annette

            Annette,

Perhaps to a great extent you are correct on all points. I do have a lazy streak about me for one, and I also have some fears of what I will be thought of … And I know the enemy (Satan) does not want me to. I believe I am a saved, born-again, spirit filled believer as I had a dramatic salvation experience when I was younger. My life took so many turns and I never spent the time to develop as a Christian (and you could say I was backslidden more than I was walking the walk). Then when life crashes in on me, I find myself repenting (or attempting to) and trying “to get right again” with God I am once again at that point in my life. I want the Yo Yo life I lead to end. (And the enemy would let me END it if I let him convince me that there is no hope for me in God) But I still have a small hope that God loves me and that I am forgiven from ALL the terrible things I did and from all the pain I may have caused others along the way. The hope I have is that I can feel good about myself again. I believe most people see me as a good honest and loving man, and that helps, but I see so many lost and suffering people out there in the world…. HOW can I be any use to God?

I want to see God as you all describe Him here. A father who loves me unconditionally and withour reservation. I have confessed all known and all unknown sins to Him, and I want to go forward in faith however, I am in a BIG HURRY as I want this pain to end now! And I am wanting God to “fix” me and make it all better. Sounds childish I know, but then I am a child of God and my Father in heaven is still the same loving Father I once knew when I got radically saved 40 years ago (right??).

          • I woulld suggest that you Fast for at least 3 days & meditate on the Lord, than you will know what to do. There are so many different views on this subject and you have no idea who’s advice you should follow. That is why I say for you to fast. The best Councelor is the Wonderful Councelor. Jesus! But you must realize that no one can Force you to do this. It is up to you. So many have fallen, Yet they got back up and followed the Lord. Peter fell & Jesus had him promIse to take care of his Sheep 3 times. Now you can try it on your own and Fail or you can Die to yourself & seek God with all your Heart strength soul & Mind Yes you have Fallen, but you will never get anywhere by standing still or giving up. He is not a half way God. He is Faithful even when we are not. Start over, I encourage you. don’t be like a Dog who goes after its own Vomit and keep Greiving the Holy Spirit of God. Don’t Give Up, Be like the Woman who wouldn’t stop asking Jesus to heal her Daughter and she didn’t give up even after he called her a Dog. Seek Him for he is the only one who knows your Heart. Love your sis in Christ Jesus, Annette

Annette and Holyroller, You both have spoken clearly. I am so impatient! I do not plan to give UP! My desire is to live a sold out life to God. Please pray that he gives me the strength needed to be victorious! Thank you.

PS: Please pray I find some local Christians to befriend me.

I’m glad you plan to stand, Life sometimes rattles our foundations, but only believe, I’d rather face trials with God than without him, where can we go but to the Lord.be blessed

If I told you I buried 10000 dollars in your back yard how long would you dig for it. An answer from God is worth much more,so pray without ceaseing until you recieve, and you will find what you seek.very quickly

          • Holyroller_11 says:

depends,on many things, you can lose the indwelling, ask to be saved and the binle says to do your first works over, many saints won’t agree, mostly because of pride or shame.you don;t lose on just anything, most know if they have lost, thats just it,clouds with no water,a show but no power.io think you cannot lose the inqwelling is the greater danger

    • Holyroller_11 says:

not being baptized, won’t stop a believer from being raptured, ask the thief on the cross, the cold and luke warm christian will be left.as were these virgins, they lost their zeal for the lost.as for the tribulation, this is for those who missed the rapture to have a last chance to saved.these also may never be baptized ,but may still repent and be saved. tribulation’s only reason for its being is for a last chance for souls.its not for punishment, that will come to the ungodly anyway.

      • bornagainbytheblood says:

Based on your reply to my post, I think you may have read the information that I sent to you via e-mail. The thief on the cross indeed made it to heaven, but he was not raptured like Elijah, Enoch and Jesus. Based on the Word of God, I do believe that those who have not been baptized in the Holy Ghost will be spewed into the tribulation period, for they did not fully obey and that’s why they don’t have the Holy Ghost. Jesus is coming for His obedient Bride. The Word of God says that God will give the Holy Ghost to them that obey. We must seek until we receive. We must get all the stones of disobedience out of the way so we can receive the promise of the Father.

        • Holyroller_11 says:

If anyone misses the rapture,I have no doupt they were not looking for him to come.but a sincere believer, filled or not,as long as they were seeking with a whole heart they will make the rapture, 2 will be working in the field, one taken and one left. we are not so far apart here, the main thing is to be seek God first and everything else will take care of itself when that day appears.God bless

          • bornagainbytheblood says:

We’ll have to disagree on this issue. There will be a lot of Christians looking for the Rapture who will be left because they did not have the power of the Holy Ghost (the Oil) working within. This is the meaning of the ten-virgins parable. Only the Bride of Christ will be taken in the Rapture, and all born again children of God do not make up Jesus’ Bride. The five foolish virgins went out to meet the Bridegroom at the time of the Rapture, but they had no Oil. Jesus will tell them, “I know you not”, meaning He does not know them as His Bride. The five foolish virgins must go into the tribulation period because they were not accounted worthy to escape the things that will come upon the earth. Ye with an ear, hear what the Spirit is saying.

            Hi Stephen

            1) Who was this Parable of the 10 virgins, and all of the other Parables of Jesus spoken to?
            2) What was Jesus purpose of speaking in Parables?
            3) When did Jesus speak in Parables?
            4) Why did Jesus speak in Parables?

A Parable cannot be understood, until you understand the purpose of a Parable.
Who then can understand this Parable, and all parables?

            1) Who was this Parable of the 10 virgins, and all of the other Parables of Jesus spoken to?

The Parables of Jesus were spoken, only to the Jews of that Generation.
            Mat 13:15
For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
            Mat 23:38
Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
            Mat 24:34
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

            2) What was Jesus purpose of speaking in Parables?

The Parables of Jesus were spoken to fulfill prophesy about the Messiah.
            Mat 13:35
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

            3) When did Jesus speak in Parables?

The Parables of Jesus were spoken, every time He spoke to the people.
            Mat 13:34
All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:

            4) Why did Jesus speak in Parables?

The Parables of Jesus were spoken, as a fulfillment of prophesy
            Mat 13:11
He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
            Mat 13:14
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
