Another Side of Grace: FAITH

“Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith”.

Romans 12: 6.

I want you to notice the way grace and faith are used in this scripture. He said gift differs according to the grace that is given to us and that we should minister the gifts according to the proportion of our faith. If we follow the flow of thought from the fact that gifts differ by the grace that is given, then we could conclude by saying “let us prophesy according to the grace that is given.”

But instead the Holy Spirit suddenly changes from grace to faith. In other Words, grace given is equivalent to the proportion of faith. The grace of God upon a man is determined by the proportion of faith in his life. You cannot walk in faith more than the proportion (or measure) of grace upon your life and vice versa.

“And Stephen, full of faith and power did great wonders and miracles among the people”.

Acts 6: 8.
“NowStephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people”. Acts 6:8 (NIV).
Stephen we were told was full of faith, the same WORD `full of faith’ was the same WORD `full of God’s grace’ as we can see in different renditions of the same scripture.

Fullness of faith connotes fullness of grace. Stephen was able to walk in the fullness of faith because he was full of the grace of God. You are a man of faith to the level to which you are a man of grace.
If grace is not in place, faith is out of place. For by grace are ye saved through faith.

“Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”.

Romans 5: 1.

“That being justified by His grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life”.

Titus 3:7.

“Being justified freely by His grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”.

Romans 3: 24.

Do you seethe way the Holy Spirit is using grace and faith interchangeably. Justification by faith; justification by grace. Wherever you see grace there you will see faith. In the Old Testament they were under the law living by works, in the New Testament we are under the grace living by faith.

“Therefore it is of faith, that is, it might be by grace… Romans 4: 16.
In fact, you come for grace by faith. The measure of faith by which you approach the throne for grace determines the proportion of grace you will come back with. The Bible says we should come to the throne of grace boldly. Boldness is an attitude of faith. The Bible says that

“God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him”. Hebrews 11: 6.

He is a just-rewarder, you approach Him by faith and His reward is according to the measure of your faith. You cannot receive from him beyond the measure of your faith. God gives in measures. If you approach Him with a cup He will fill it. If you approach Him with a tank, He will fill it. You determine the measure you receive from Him. There is no unconditional release of grace even though we do not merit it yet, we must do something to attract His grace. If we look at every man that found grace, they sought for it. Grace is only given when we fulfill the condition.Fulfilling the condition is not the prize for grace; it is priceless. It is just a way of assuring God that we value it. When He said come to the throne of grace to find grace, He meant exactly that, you must come if you don’t, you can’t find.

He said it is only those who seek that find, and not just seek. He said in Hebrews11: 6 that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. It is only when we confess our sins that we receive the forgiveness of our sins.

It is only when we walk in the light as He is in light that we have fellowship one with one another. There is no scripture that teaches unconditional grace. Even in salvation, you obey and accept the gospel and confess that Jesus is Lord before you can be saved; there is no other way.

So it is the proportion of faith that you take to approach Him for grace that determines the measure of grace that you will receive.

Your diligence in seeking Him reveals your level of faith in Him and determines the measure of grace you receive from Him. Doubt guarantees no response from God. When you doubt you come out empty. The Bible says that `if any man has a lack he should go to God in faith not wavering’.
