What is the Goal of the Christian Life?

Here is a short but oh so true essay taken from the book Classic Christianity by Bob George.

THE GOAL OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE
By: Bob George

The Christian world is obsessed with sin. It’s all we talk about. Most of our preaching and teaching is directed toward getting people to quit sinning. Are you ready for a really shocking statement? The goal of the Christian life is not to stop sinning! To use the analogy of the starving man, most Christian teaching is like a person following a starving man around saying, “You stay out of the garbage! Do you hear me? Don’t eat the garbage!

Did God make you and I as Sinners?

Traditional Christian theology teaches that we are born as sinners. It teaches us that Adam’s original sin of disobedience to God is IMPUTED to us – that God considers US guilty of what Adam did, even before we do anything.

Are you Secure as a true follower of Jesus?

There are those that argue that once a person is truly in Christ they can never walk away from the Lord in such a way as to be finally lost. One Scripture that could support this idea is in John 10:27-29. But before you quickly assume that you are one of the people Jesus is referring to here, please check and see if you meet the qualifications. And if you do meet the qualifications, be sure that you are in a place where you keep on meeting them. God will give grace for that.

Backsliding, I need a new start.

I have been seeing changes in myself for the worst lately. I have been sucked into pornography, video games, and self-gratification. About 2 months ago I was fasting and praying for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and for a cleansed and pure heart and after not receiving it, I became very bitter and basically gave up. I stopped reading the Bible and started giving myself to the lust of the flesh. Every now and then I become overwhelmed with guilt and seek forgiveness and maybe read a chapte4r or two in the Bible, but for the most part, I seem to be the old sinful man I used to be.

Strategy for a Multiplying House Church Movement

I’ve given some consideration to what I believe is an appropriate framework for believers in a house church setting who are serious about fulfilling the Great Commission. I’m talking about people who are serious about preaching the Gospel to all people, and making disciples, who choose to embrace a church life that is closer in form and hopefully in power to that of the early Christian church. Here then, are some of the key elements I believe are important.

A Christmas gift you DONT want to receive.

This article was recently published by “Share International”, a major force in the roll out of New Age ideology.

Share International Reveals Christmas Miracle

“LOS ANGELES, Dec. 12 /PRNewswire/ — For years the world has been
filled with miracles of all kinds. In April 1995 Time magazine devoted an
eight-page spread to its cover story on miracles and concluded: “People are
hungry for signs.”

Look now for the biggest miracle of all.

Pray for people I am leading to Christ

Last night I spoke with a young vietnamese man in the centre of Brisbane who goes by the name Don. He had been hearing some street preachers for some time and he was just waiting for someone to help him to start following Jesus. He prayed to God and felt some relief, and took a New Testament and said he would read it.

Please pray that Don becomes a true disciple of Jesus.

I would like to lead one person to Christ per week through personal evangelism, and give them all an opportunity to do Bible studies with me. I’ve had enough of waiting for churches here to encourage me to do this.

Online Fellowship Experiment through Paltalk

I would like to begin a Paltalk chat room for those who wish to have fellowship online. I see a lot of potential in using the net for online prayer and encouragement.

Please add a comment to this post if you’d like to meet up online at paltalk.com.
