Pain, pressure, perplexity, setbacks and death in ministry

My wife and I were just considering a passage of Scripture today from 2 Corinthians 4:8-11:

“We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed – always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always being delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.”

I am aware that God has made promises to His children. God has promised many good things.

Answer to a young person

I thought it good to answer on this website to some good questions that someone recently wrote:

I am a young person, who is currently confused. I have not been brought up in a particularly religious household so I do not have a certain religion that I follow, so to speak. I have friends from a variety of religious backgrounds who are all telling me about their own religion. My grandparents are Christians but parents are Pagan.

Persecution News

Today, more than ever, Christians around the world are suffering for being obedient to the faith.

Wherever he can, the devil stirs up hatred and trouble for those who actively shine the light of Jesus Christ and the knowledge of the gospel in a dark place.

If you want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus you will suffer persecution, so remember those in prison as if chained with them (Hebrews 13:3).

The State of Justice in the U.S.A.

I refer to the article at http://www.cnn.com/2007/LAW/06/08/winkler.sentence.ap/index.html

Of course, you never know how much of what is reported is true, but for now, I will write as if what is written here is true, and see what this might mean from a Christian point of view.

It seems that this woman, Mary Winkler, who willfully shot her husband to death might get off with 7 months jail time.

She was convicted of “voluntary manslaughter”. That term makes about as much sense as “involuntary murder”.
